Have you watched any of their games?

I have.

Dominating on the scoreboard but nowhere else is regression in the making.

Playing the weakest teams in the league (at this point) and really bad goaltending doesn;t really mean anything.

You're right, I watched a period against philly and they seemed ok like any other game or team and scored some nice goals. It was only a period but they scored goals much like goals scored against us, off of mistakes. Great players make you pay and we make mistakes and they kill you. Good on the oilers for making it count.

We kind of don’t make other teams pay for their mistakes often enough, not like the way other teams do to us.

Arguably the CHI game was the toughest test so far.

McD held off the scoresheet and a -2.

Crawford has been the best goalie they have faced so far.

That there is pretty telling.

Edmonton is averaging the least amount of shots at 25.6 shots per game and are giving up 33 shots a game. They are getting out shot and out chanced every night.

They also won't be able to sustain anything near the 45.5% on the PP.

Reality is going to hit them in the face hard.

They are winning games right now and good for them, but it isn't because they are playing well, it's because they are playing weak teams and getting lucky with weak goalies.

I just can't see anyway that they will be in the playoff mix down the stretch if they continue to play the way they are.

Have to agree. They are taking advantage of poor teams and it appears a great set up in scheduling. They have played more than half  games where lesser teams are coming in from a B2B situation. The best team they have played to date is Chicago, tonight they get the Wings after the Flames, sets up for another easy test. Good on htem for taking advantage, however, let us review this after they play some teams that are a test.

Neal with yet another goal tonight

this guy says he scores 30 this year......😕

Hey, easy there now, don't walk too far out on the plank.

One goal every 3-4 games from here on out should get him there.

Any other fearless predictions?

Yep....Neal with 30, and the Oiler’s still miss the playoffs!

Lucic with 3......

General question.  If Toby Rieder scored 12 goals last year at exactly the same point in a game and deficit as his first as a Flame, would the Oilers have made the playoffs?  Because they only lost by 3 or more goals 24 times last season.

I never undertood that comment when he said it.

The Oilers won games in OT when they were down a single goal.

Their PK was terrible, but that's not on one player.

Perhaps if they weren't leaders in negative goal differential they would have gotten in.

12 goals would not have made a dent in that.

BTW, the Oilers look no different this season.

Little to no scoring in the bottom 6.

Little attention to detail on defensive play.

No doubt they can win 9-8 games.

Those would be McDavid 5 point nights.

The funny thing is that goals were easy to come by in games against feeder teams, but two games in a row against structured teams.

WPG is a team lacking defense but a structured team.

Minny has issues, but playing defensively is not one of them.

The Panther's put the run on Smith to start the 2nd. 3 goals in 1:16 I think it was. The Panthers are making the real Oilers stand up.

3-0 Pants after 2. They haven't lost in regs in 6. Good luck Edmonchuk. This is what a good team looks like.

He took a shot on the Cats' PP where he was barely able to play.

Finished out the period and started the one where he gave up a bunch.

It did not look that the "injury" had any thing to do with the 3 goals.

They were typical Smith goals.

Watch the 3rd goal. Watch his reaction. Look familiar?

I watched the Boyle goal and that was classic Smitty.

Played in a crouch, then face first unable to wait out the guy with the puck.

Launch forward to make the save.

Like the line goes, 50% of the time it works every time.

Looks like Neal is reverting to being completely one-dimensional.

10g 1a -4

Lucic is 0g 3a -3

To make matters worse, Neal has resulted in Nuge going dry.

Twice that I have seen, Nuge has taken a shot on the PP and Neal deflects it in.

Neal isn't adding any assists on Nuge goals, suffice to say that he isn't able to set up Nuge.

So, they have added potentially a 20 goal scorer and have subtracted a 20 goal scorer by him playing with Nuge.

Bumped off Nuges line tonight, but adds on the PP.  Last night had a nice turnover on Detroits winner.  Neal this year is essentially like a lefty specialist in baseball, only provides one value to a team and can only be relied on for a small percentage of the game and not every game.  The main difference is the lefty specialist is in high demand and can perform on any team, Neal can only perform when he plays with the best players.
