I would suggest that any of those LD could play with any of those RD.

Valimaki can play RD, so you have even more options.

Hani-Ras

Valimaki-Tanev

Zaddy-Kyl

Hani-Ras

Kyl-Tanev

Zaddy-Valimaki

I think Dutter would like to experiment with both of those setups.

You want your young guys to gro with a vet.

Kyl and Vali both have that chance depending on which sets.

Each of those pairs a skater with a guy capable of shutting down the offense.

Hani-Ras is the long term future top pair.

Let's face it, Tanev is older and more likely to be injured.

Stone

MaKey

here is the reasons:

1. Hanifin and Tanev click.

2. Valimaki is a LD, puck

mover and Anderson is RD and all round type D, should be a good comment to each other…I can see a Gio/Brodie team here.

3. Zadorov is a LD defensive D, Kylington is a puck mover and skater and can play RD so the styles should mesh well and with Kylington being able

to play RD makes better sense to move him to RD Vice moving Valimaki to RD.

Stone is the perfect 7th D fill in…

MaKey, better than Stone and should replace stone as the 7th D over the course of the season

I really like all of these options as none of them include Gudbranson.

No Chucky?  That should keep the speculators active.

We lost Coleman to the season start due to a needless suspension.

There's a bit of bad blood between these teams as it is.

Keep Chucky's nose clean for game 1.

It seems like they are playing basically the starting lineup minus Tkachuk.

Kirkland is a fill in.

Froese is there to see if he can look better than Lewis.

Some comments about the lines:

  • Dube on LW and Mangiapane at RW; is this to be able to use Tkachuk on LW?
  • Gawdin seems to be getting the early nod for a C spot
  • Lucic with Duehr; might be a good thing to go with
  • Froese has looked better than Lewis, but I don't know he is NHL material
  • Valimaki getting the Kylington treatment with Tanev; see if he can respond
  • Kylington with Gudbranson; repeat...see if he can carry another weak D-man

Really hope Duehr gets to stay up, at least to start the season. Sure looks like he's earned it.

I'd throw Gawdin in there too.  I understand the likes of Lewis and Richardson bring a veteran presence but both Dueher and Gawdin are going to be hungry at the chance to prove their worth.

I think Gawdin and Duehr have a shot to be in the opening night lineup.

At this point I think it's likely Pitlick will be out for the opener. Could start the season on IR. Obviously Coleman is supended.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Mangiapane

Tkachuk-Backlund-Dube

Lucic-Backlund-Duehr

Richardson-Gawdin-Lewis

Lindholm?  Guess he is Backland 1 😁

Richardson injured.

Pitlick out.

Game 1 also no Coleman.

Kylington stuck with Guddy.

Valimaki looks good with Ranev (surprise?)

Hani-Ras a good pair.

Not sure who is playing tonight, due to the Richardson injury.

JG-Mony-Lindholm

Dube-Backlund-Mange

Lucic-Gawdin-Lewis

Kirkland-?-?

Maybe Froese?

The more I listen to Sutter post game interviews the more I think Gudbranson is "his guy".  We also heard the rumour Sutter personally reached out to Gudbranson when UFA season started asking him to considering coming to Calgary.  The fact Gudbranson's signing waited until the last minute before camp suggests to me BT may have been hesitant but reluctantly signed him in the end because the Eichel thing was dragging out too long and there was no other RD remaining on the market.

Anyways, I think Sutter is going to play Gudbranson all season long no matter what.

Well that’s a tad dramatic, but maybe he will be deserving.

Gudbranson was quoted as saying “yes Sutter called me”.

So lets not call it a rumour, but rather take the man for his word.

If we are subtracting D bodies via trade tmrw then yes I see Gudbranson getting leaned on this season, otherwise our D looks to have depth, and I see him in an out of line-up depending on the match-ups and availability.

Let’s judge the big G after he has played a string of meaningful games and stop critiquing the team for having depth.

Personally, I haven’t watched much of the preseason but I do understand the physical addition.

Well of course I hope he holds his own (and secretly hope we get Eichel for Andersson+).  Just saying, even if he doesn't play well Sutter mentions him by name as a veteran on D who offsets the youth on D.  So, I think Gudbranson plays a lot this season.

well, let’s look at the trends over the years. Easy to say give a guy a chance but when he’s been a horrible player for many years and then is signed fo give a veteran presence, is that the presence we need? Someone who constantly drags his partners down?

A good tool box is filled with a variety of tools. You don’t use a screwdriver to put in a nail and you don’t use a hammer to put in a screw. Suter obviously feels he needs a hammer from time to time. The front of our net has been a tea party for the opposition for over a decade, maybe Grabranson can start knocking over some tea cups.

I have learned if your going to have a goodtool box Fill it with Quality tools or you will have paid for a screwdriver and and will still need a hammer to put in a screw.

This might be the worst analogy I’ve ever heard.lol

c’mon red and cheers.

So your making a ham and cheese sandwich and the mustard just flies out too fast. So you add mayonnaise and it turns into a disaster. Kind of analogy.lol

All these analogies...

I like may on ham and cheese.

Not with mustard added to it, though.

I think we have a large pizza with the works.

Not many people like anchovies (Lewis) and some are alergic to it.

Onions add flavour, but it leaves a bad aftertaste (Gudbranson).

Without a lot of cheese (Chucky), the pizza is a little boring.

The sauce has to taste right or the pizza sucks (Giadreau).

The crust has to be firm but tastey (Sutter).

Mony is probably pineapple then. I like it but others want nothing to do with it.
