Years ago I presented a lottery system that withdrew 10 or 20 % of the lottery percentages given to the non playoff teams. At the end of the season the total number of wins by the 16 non playoff teams after game 41 were counted and divided by that 10 or 20 %. Each win after game 41 would increase your lottery %. Realistically under this system teams could only tank from games 1 to 41.

I am really not sure about Celebrini as I think he tops out as a Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. I would have no problem trading down to get a couple top D. ie. 1st OA to Mon for their 7th 25th and our own 2025 1sr

Looks like we will be in the Yakemchuk or TJ range just like I was hoping a month ago.

Instead of trading decent players to get picks I would be more inclined to trade the Van 1st for a decent player. No coin flip on the pick, you get what you pay for. ARI is desperate for 1st round picks and I would be inquiring on how many of their 2nd rounders (they have 10 in the next 3 years) they would be willing to trade for the Van 1st. We could then trade the acquired 2nd rounders and cap space for positional needs in our organization. On a limited view I trust Conroy more on trades than draft choices.

I didn't realize Celebrini was a franchise changer

So let's say the hockey gods shine down on us and the Flames win 1st OA. The question is are we ready to put Celebrini into the lineup full time next year. If so, Conroy will be out spending cap money like a drunken Notley on UFA's. If we don't play Celebrini 1st year he will be gone first chance. If we do win 1st OA that would push SJ or CHI to 3rd or 4th. Would then a trade with SJ for their 3rd and Pitts 1st 15 OA or Chi 4th OA plus TB 1st 21st OA + a 2nd be a better long term play, Tough to trade an elite 1st OA but throwing these 1st OA players out 1st year has shown consistently over the last few years injuries to these players.

Every time I get close in points to Rocket he seems to catapult to a big lead. If I would have stuck with just 2 or 3 trades after the draft this year i would probably be leading. But what fun is that, I enjoy moving players in and out of my lineup. Gives me my own little game within a game. I would be proud to come in second to Rocket but will be giving it my damnest till the end of the season.
