  1. My pool picks and the Flames draft implications have me hoping for the Nucks and Knights to come out of the west but I'll openly be rooting for the local guys just as a **** you to anyone who has teams like the Jets, Flames, Sens on their no trade lists. /no I'm not bitter.
  2. My local draft picks tell me to root for the Bolts and Canes. I dont think theres any clear winners in any of the series but all I know is that battle of Florida is going to be tooth and nail.
  3. 2019 was my first season. I'm easy to forget as I'm usually nowhere near contention.
  4. Gms would adopt different roster strategies. You would see less of the bad contract dumping grounds of Arizona (SLC), and the dreadful asset management of the Oilers all the while having bottom feeders being a bit more hesitant on long term/high $$ contracts (SJ with EK and BUF with Skinner)
  5. Markstrom for the Easter Bunny and a case if creme eggs. Do it.
  6. Should be interesting. 4 of the 6 d-men werent on the roster at the half way point.
  7. Theres also 1 against Edmonton and Vegas, 2 against LA. Winning those 4 would be vital. As would be the game against St.Loo.
  8. TDL has come and gone, moves have been made and theres 20 games remaining. Currently: -6 pts from last wild card spot, -4 pts from #8 pick -11 of the last 20 game are divisional (15 in conference) I'm not holding hope they'll squeeze in but I'm also not expecting them to roll over and give up either so it most likely be another "mushy middle" finish. The question is how does the season play out vs what do you want to see? Stumble into the playoffs only to face Dallas, Winnipeg or Vancouver (which has trade condition implications) or pick in the mid teens again and hope it turns into a roster player eventually. There wasnt alot of expectations going into the season but the future looks bright. As a diehard I want to see them get in but if youre going to do a reset this is the time. New faces, new attitudes, new start come October.
  9. Why Talbot or Rittich? Talbot is older than Marky and Rittich has been a 3rd string goalie at best the last few seasons. If thats the path in the offseason then target Nedejkkovic, Brossoit, or run with Vladar. I would also guess any deal for Marky would include a goalie coming back.
  10. You mean Vegas? Your stand is based on one outlying season? I'm not going to argue the benefits of keeping/trading Marky but thats a weak foundation to base your reasoning.
  11. This season and two years ago yes, last season and his first with the team, not so much. It seems either feast or famine with him and his history shows next year could very well be another down year. I'm not advocating to move him just because but I dont think moving him would negatively affect the "culture" too much. They're all professionals and as long as they trust the system and the timeline they'll be fine.
  12. Shilly lookin good out there, didnt take long to get up to speed. Makes losing any D men a little easier to digest.
  13. That and even though its the US its no "closer to home" than Calgary which seems to be Hanifins ideal.
  14. That is the shift that needed to happen. Going back to Conroys statement pre season and by Colemans recent quote the environment in the lockerroom starts with filling it with people who want to be here. It already seems to be turning for the better, just need to see how it holds up after all is said and done post TDL.
  15. Thats fine and all but I think a main piece should be more of a difference maker since thats whats going the other way.
  16. No argument that he could be a very good player, hes just not at the point that hes the key piece coming back. If Tanev and Hanifin are gone then you need replacements Markstrom + 3rd for Nemec + Vanacek Jersey wants to win asap, make them pay.
  17. I think Mercer is being overvalued, at barely a .5 ppg he shouldnt be the main piece of a deal. As an RFA he should get a show me deal if anything.
  18. History has also shown us that Marky having a good year tends to mean the next one wont be, which in turn negatively affecting his value. That tells us the time to move him would be now but it would be nice if there was a better picture how Wolf is going to transition then maybe that gives you some direction moving forward. IF Marky gets traded tomorrow you've got a Wolf/Dansk combo until Vladar comes back. Get rid of 2 veteran D men also and you're setting up your tandem for failure.
  19. Exactly. Theres really no time constraint to move Marky as opposed to Tanev and Hanifin. My worry is if Conroy is taking time listening to offers for Marky then the Tanev/Hanifin scenario is either at a stalemate or there hasnt been an offer worth noting. I would hope the focus is still on the D men and this is just a stalling tactic to gain interest in the offerings.
