Wings, baby, Wings

Hosting the Oilers Wednesday, don't Blockchain this up!!

Modest 3 game winning streak, but still haven't really gotten back on track since the injury torments. Just 5-5 in the past 10 including the modest streak.

Oilers in on a 7 game heater.

The Wings used to not take many penalties. Hopefully the shine comes back, but the D...again. Near the top of the league for O-stats from the D and near the bottom for D stats.

I'm sure everyone's aware of how I despise Dmen that hide their Satoshi Nakamoto D play behind O stats. Ghostisbehere, Petry...

Just beat the Oilers. Score early, score often, don't sit back at any point in the 3rd, that's when they really push hard. Seider, just do your usual and stare right at 97's chest. I absolutely love Seider for that. They teach Dmen that when they're, like, 6. It seems most have long forgotten about it. LOOK AT THE MAN, NOT THE PUCK. Drives me nuts...don't Blockchaining look down.

Big game in Toronto tonight. Win and move into the 1st wildcard spot, 1 pt back of the leafs, though they have 2 in hand.

D has been looking better, GOTTA be better. One of the best GF in the league, one of the worst GA. She's an adventure.

LFG! GWG!!

Oof, Wings didn't get to the arena until 6pm, so they pushed the start back from 7 to 7:45. Ouch.

Spolier alert, as if you didn't know, the Wings won.

How is the Leafs sending so many players to the All Star game?

Because Canada is full of idiots?

She was a tight one! Good game by Reimer and D clearing his rebounds. Kane injured on 1st shift. Needed a regulation win. Toronto only has 13 regulation wins this season. Ottawa has 12, for comparison.

The league should prolly revisit their point structure. But then again, whenever they mess with something, they make it worse.

The inundation that is TML head to Western Canada. Keep 'em there for a few months woodja? We need a break. Especially the excessive media. Who's the next player on the cross of their media to feed a fan frenzy?

EDM is not much different for fickleness.

Losing streak, fire everyone and fire the goalies into the sun.

Waive a new signed goalie (last year's).

Winning streak and the cup is ours.

Only a few of the recent streak were against playoff teams.

3 of 10 were OT or SO wins.

TO media and assault on West home games is sickening.

What do you do the rest of the year if you aren't at a Calgary or EDM game?

Nobody cares what player in TO has a hangnail.

Nobody cares how bad a coach TO has.

So few people seemed to see Detroit as the improving team over Buffalo and Ottawa, I found it a bit of a headcratcher.

Toronto’s commentary was pretty much, “not only were they stuck in an airport and arrived just 90 minutes before puck drop, it’s only Detroit”.

The Wings have given away at least 6 games they should have had this year. If they put it all together they can be a really good team. It seems like few want to believe it. Kane left the game after his first shift. Didn’t really matter, just screwed up their PP because he runs it/great at entries.

Plus, Leafs, the Wings didn’t play all that well. Fairly poorly really.

So, perhaps this thread should just be facepalm gifs.

Teas are sputtering into the playoffs right now, especially their last 10.

WPG 5-5-0

EDM 5-3-2

PHI  4-4-2

TOR 5-4-1

DET 3-7-0

NYI 3-6-1

Other than WPG and TOR, the other teams have a points % of less than .6

That's 92 points on the season.  Talk about backing in.

DeBrincat-Larkin-Raymond

Tarasenko-Compher-Kane

Rasmussen-Copp-Berggren

Motte-Veleno-Fischer

Not bad, pretty good balance.

Chiarot-Seider

Edvinsson-Petry

Gustafsson-Maatta

Johansson, Wallinder and Pellikka, please hurry.

Lyon, Talbot, Husso

Decent depth.

Cossa, Augustine are decent prospects.

Copp needs a solid bounce-back. He looked out of place too often last year. Don't love half of those dmen.

Waiting on prospects is tortuous. Something the Flames will be finding out in the coming years.

Bruh... Make all the picks at once and they will all NHL ready together.  But no, you want to spread out the picks over several years.

If we traded Andersson at the draft, then maybe we could've had BUF or Utah's pick and taken Buium or Dickinson.

Sure, whatever you believe.  I’m sure if those teams were willing to just trade away the picks they would have.  I don’t for a second believe they called offering those picks for Andersson.

You're absolutely correct. This is 100% the result of my opinions becoming decisions.

There was probably never a trade for Andersson that allowed us to draft a top young D but that's aside from the fact you guys wouldn't support doing so even if it was there.

If we want all our prospects to hit full stride at the same time then we have to draft them around the same time.

I said I didn’t where?  Not believing teams will pay high picks for a middle pair D man isn’t the same as saying I don’t want to.

Dude. What are we doing here, US politics? I wasn't huge on the Wings re-signing Kane. Am I going off about it somewhere? If Conroy had made a trade in that regard, I'd happily discuss/assess it.

Because I didn't agree that you wanted to throw every remaining asset at it isn't the same as being unsupportive.

The people fans tend to get out of their minds as drafts approach. Every pick is for sale. Within the bounds of a realistic, fair deal is Yeti sightings. lol

Unlikely to be real.

We just had a great draft, by all accounts. Let sleeping dogs lie. We can still trade assets.

Datsyuk crossed the pond for the Wings dev camp. It's been some years. By all accounts, he was overjoyed to come back and steal pucks from the kids.

I found out about this place today....

I totally want to invest in one and am going to check it out in a fortnight.

Zetts has a gig in Sterling Heights, ridiculously close, just a bridge and a drive to Olds from Calgary away.

I'm intrigued, for sure.

Good to know we are all on the same page then.  If that trade was/is there, then we take it.

There is some logic to having all your at bats the same year.  Trade Ras for a 1st, assuming Utah or Buff really wanted to.  Then you have a bunch of players you need to sign by date X.  Date X depends on their status, so you have to consider Russians and Euros who delay coming here and college bound players that you have rights to until they leave.

The problem with that idea is that you can only have so many contracts.  You only have a couple years to sign from the CHL.  Chances are you let go of a good one because you have to sign the higher % of likelys NHL ers.  You can graduate all of the players at the same time, since you have a salary cap floor to deal with.  You can't keep them all in the AHL because they lose their waiver status before you can get all of them in the NHL.

There is logic in spacing out over several drafts.  More time to get them in and less chance of not signing one because you are at your 50 limit.
