LouCifer
Clearly it’s Tanev’s teeth. And the history between them justifies it. Tanev should have the save% column added to his stats for how many shots he blocks. I think the teeth are a nod to the “2nd goalie” we have on the ice when Tanev is out there. Sick mask nonetheless. I appreciate the nod to kip, Vern, and kidder. Absolutely love it. I Want a replica!
jjgallow
One of the ones that got away, I feel, was Andrei Trefilov. If we look back at some of the most talented goalies we ever had in our organization, I think, personally, he made the list. Not sure what happened to him, maybe a concussion. Just look at that padding lol.....this is when goaltenders needed skill. And whatever happened to 12 rounds at the NHL draft? One or two NHL veterans were produced from rounds 11 and 12 every single year, consistently. Tells you how many undrafted players could still do it if given a chance. travel_dude
Nice to see Marky leading in SO. Pretty high number in SA% and low GAA. We have gotten to 7-0 vs the East. Let's keep that going and manage the goalie starts on the upcoming roadie. SJS at home before the big trip. B2B against MTL then TOR; let's shut them fans up. Put Marner back on the Schnide. Keep Lucic with more goals than Matthews.

Kinda killed his GAA and SA%. Sutter no-nonsense about starting Vladar. Said the plan was to give Marky a break. Still calling him raw but doing the things a backup needs to do. travel_dude
It's early yet, but I like the blistering start. Last year, he was really good, then was crap after the injury, then was good to really good. It's probably safe to say that the Nuck defense really hampered his play. This year's D corp is much better at letting him make the initial save and clearing out the crap. Still some work to do, but we are second in goals against. Trailing CAR by 6 goals. Freddie is helping them, but they take far less penalties than we do. In fact, you could almost attribute the difference to be one game against the Oilers. I agree he's been as good as he's had to be. Defensive structure has helped a lot and this is what an elite goalies numbers tend to look like behind a solid defense. Liked what I've seen from Vladar as well so far.
LouCifer
Agreed. Loved Sutter’s comment about shutouts/save% being a team stat. He really knows how to make players accountable for all areas of the ice and aspects of the game. This team went from zero accountability to 110% under Sutter. 😂
jjgallow
Very impressed. https://www.nhl.com/news/ottawa-senators-place-goalie-matt-murray-on-waivers/c-328389906 Couldn't the Flames or whoever just claim him and put him on injured reserve? For sure he's got long covid, and decent bet he'll be great next year. Risk as well, because he hasn't really been "Matt" since 2019. But seems like a low risk move? I do not understand hoe he's not on injured reserve.

Has a game where he let in a couple of goals. Killed his stats. LOL I really hope they start using Vladar a bit more. The defense is really tight when he is out there. He's cool under pressure. Pretty much has to be covid effects, which he's chosen not to disclose. He hasn't been the same since he went into covid protocol and he's no spring chicken. it would make sense that it doesn't take much to throw him off, he is unusually at the top of his game this year, ruining all my super negative and depressing predictions. But I would imagine everything has to be perfect healthwise for him to perform at that level. The possibilities outside covid are pretty limited. I mean there was that year Theo Fleury was "injured putting up Christmas Lights" lol
