I think because the odds are so low, the flames are going to beat the golden showers tonight.

There's always a first.

We took years to win in ANA.

Interesting to note, after a OTL we have one win all season.

We have a bunch of losses and OTL's.

That's not a positive thing, but interesting.

Much like 20 losses when outshooting the other team by more than 10 shots.

Is 20 losses when outshooting the other team by 10 or more an NHL record?

That is how you play hockey. 60 minutes of full team aggression on the fore and back. Attack.

Quick was not the level of goalie we have lost to.

It was a win and I will cheer that on, but we put them down on plays he normally would stop.

Quick was on a roll. That performance stopped his roll. The golden showers were outplayed period. I give credit where due.

The last time we faced him we scored 6.  This time 6.

It was a glorious win over a goalie we seem to beat frequently.

Points in 7 of the last 9 games. I never really mean die, when I say die. That blow out against the kings may have been the results of a mutiny. It's a hard row to hoe in Sutter's game but it's still the style of game I like. I don't like the constant dump and chase, and the seeming lack of creativity but I still like his work ethic, and a defencive approach. Lanny on the interview said to keep the shots coming, and hit the net.

I say aggresive energy not reactive energy. Don't play hot potato. Is it Marchand or Bergeron who sinks 68% of his shots? When you get inside the castle walls, have a head... and save a move for the goalie.

We all wish they could have started playing like lately but earlier in the season. It wouldn't be such a nail biter just to try to make the POs.

So this is how it feels in the eye of the storm.

Is anyone able to calculate a magic number yet?

If the preds get in I am going fishing. I've lived through the Almighty Unstopable Coiler's Medicine Show Dynasty once already back in the 1980s. They don't need or get my witness this time. The so called battle of alberta don't need my precious life blood, time. My dad taught me not to be anybody's dummy... twice.

No real magic number, since it relies on many teams.

Only teams like CHI, ANA and SJS will not be able to pass us.

ARI can still hit 86, VAN 91, STL 92.

Our max is 94

NAS max is 104

Jets max is 103

So really, no team, not even Vegas is set.

9-13 games remaining.

Based on win %, WPG then NAS then us have the best chance at making the playoffs.

Thanks.

We need Peter Maher to, "... put it in the win column!"

We led the league in some dumb stats this season. How many posts last night?

Vegas started it with their post hitting.

But then they decided to aim for the space in between.

One has to be impressed with Duehr, kind of like a breath of fresh air. When you can make Lucic look good we have something. Backs and Toffoli having good seasons, Dube has possibly turned a corner. The AHL squad is at the top of the league and Wolf, Zary, Porier look to be progressing fine to. Quite possibly we hear Corronato has signed gives some form of rays of hope in a dreary end to the season.  In order to grow you have to have dark and rainy days to, but in all of this there is always a crack of daylight in the most darest of days

Hockey is a simple game.

Now that is positive.

Beautiful pass to Lucic, and a beautiful lift to the shelf by Lucic.

Ya, there's all kinds of bright stars in the organization.

As for trashing Sutter, I am not there. That article where our best player, Toffoli, indicates that Sutter is the best coach he has ever had? I wonder if Treliving should have Sutter pick players that don' t cry about a 'defence first' style i.e. Kadri, Huberdeau. Maybe trade or sell Hube to Montreal; they still owe us for Monahan. Hube wants to play there/they want him.

Kadri just ain't that good; he has a good shot. Since when has he been a super star?.. Anyway

Or maybe Treliving should look for something else?

I have hope for next season.

The Flames should at least make the play-offs.

Both goalies will be better, especially Markstrom.

I just can't envision him being this bad again next year.

The team will be better at finishing.

They have hit around 79 posts or crossbars (tops in the league?), that's not going to happen again.

Kadri, Backlund, and especially Magiapane are all below their career averages in shooting %, I expect that to correct itself.

Dube looks to be steadily trending upward.

Huberdeau, Kadri, and Weegar will have had more time to adjust to their new team and systems.

Pelletier, Ruzicka, and Duehr will have had more experience.

Phillips, Zary, Pettersen, and Wolf will push for a spot on the team.

Coronato may sign.

Hopefully, Kylington will be back.

Finally: Lucic, Lewis, Ritchie, and Stone should be gone off into the sunset.

I like the old game more than the new game. It was more of a physical game. The way the league and society are talking, they will be playing unisex with tennis rackets soon. 'The best offense is a good defense' but that doesn't seem to be good enough for the modern speed addicts, and the seasoned players get prematurely thrown on the scrap pile.

It's not Sutter's fault either. The new players on the roster should be ready to play the coaches game. What's with that?

I too have hope for next year. We seem to have 1 good year 1 bad year rinse and repeat.

I don't understand why he wasn't up earlier in the year. I felt he should have been. Good to see him doing well.

Do you really need to ask?

But, at the time, I believe that at the time, the leading scorers were:

Phillips

Pelletier

Zohorna

Not sure if Zary was up there at that point.

Duehr got in on Jan. 10th, Pelletier not until Jan 21st.

The annoying thing is Duehr only ever plays with the 4th line, almost like they want to justify the 4th line.

Meanwhile Kadri stagnates on the 3rd line with Ritchie.
