Eastern Conference

Florida (8) vs Boston (1)

NY Islanders (7) vs Carolina (2)

NY Rangers (5) vs NJ Devils (3)

Tampa Bay (6) vs Toronto (4)

Western Conference

Winnipeg (8) vs Las Vegas (1)

Seattle (7) vs Colorado (2)

LA Kings (5) vs Edmonton (3)

Minnesota (6) vs Dallas (4)

By Conference seeding of course...

I'll hope for a team that has never won one minus Vegas. So Minny, Seattle, Winnipeg in that order because of fans. Sorry Winnipeg, your fans are as obnoxious as Vancouver's.

My brain says Boston. How is anyone overcoming that Defence?

I know, I know, "nobody if the Flames aren't in".

There should be some epic hockey. Hopefully we get to patio weather by Rd 2.

Go Sting.lol

For many years I had a rule where I would cheer for Edmonton if the Flames wren't in.

That kind of ended with the "Oil change" TV series and all that followed.   They are just...impossible...to like lol.

Their D is sorta maybe up....I....guess, the goaltending imho not really.  So I expect them to get clobbered by 1 of 4 teams, very likely LA.

I'm a big fan of Makar, so for that reason I like to see him do well until he comes to his senses in a few years and signs with us.  Again with colorado it's going to depend a lot on whether one of their goalies gets hot, and they already overplayed one of them but at least they have built up some depth there.

Other than that I have no real love for any of them.  I'll be cheering mostly for the Wranglers :)

Carolina, then ownership sees that building well through the draft pays off.

Count me as surprised that the Kings win in OT.

Oilers got a long 5-3 PP to make it 2-0.

Kings get back to 2-1, then fall to 3-1.

Kings press and het back to 3-2.

Dumb-arse Bouchard cross checks with just around 2:14 left.

Kings pull the goalie and tie it with 16 seconds left.

In OT, Deharnais takes a penalty for no good reason.

Kings score on it.

Suck it Oilers.

LA badly needed that one tonight.

they got the PP’s in key spots. To their credit they cashed in. They also held McDavid off the scoresheet.

Edmonton is likely gonna get a couple power plays early in game 2. McDavid is also gonna have a big game.

LA EDM is actually becoming a pretty solid rivalry

Kings score on literally their only chance in OT,

I don't know that you will see the epic game 2 and 3 collapse from LA that you did last year.

No Quick.

I liked the intensity.  EDM seems to think they are a tough team now.

Really they have a couple of bigger guys but really no tougher than last year.

They manage to get away with using the pick.

I would say that the Oilers took undisciplined penalties, while LA got away with marginal missed calls.

Bouchard cost them the victory.  Well, if Connor doesn't score, they don't often win.

Not that i think it will end this way and really hard to cheer for anyone left with much gusto but...

I hate Doughty but I hate Edmonton more.  Go Kings Go!

Jets & Knights?  Meh neither really but I'll root for the underdog Jets and hope they wipe that shine on those obnoxious helmets.

Wild over Stars please - Jamie Benn is more of an arse than Dumba.

Cannot see Colorado lose out to Seattle and just in case the Oiks get to the Conf Final I want the best team there to beat them.

Bruins over Panthers - Boston been so good this year they deserve to go all the way.  Not overly a fan but I do remember Bruins v Oilers finals from the distant past.  Plus Hathaway is with them and that guy is awesome.

Carolina for me.  Like the way the manage their affiars but I have always had a soft spot for the Islanders.

Go Lightning Go - no more to say.  Choke again Laughs please.

Go Devils - Cannot stand the NYR.

Nice to see LA sneak one without Fiala, hopefully he's not out long.

I always cheer Korpisalo for quietly being good throughout some lousy situations. He's UFA so can gain a lot of traction for a fair contract either with LA or a solid rising team.

It was definitely playoff hockey on night 1.

That last angle showed no touch at all.  You would think they could do like a virtual shift of the angle to show from the top.

It's close but the stick avoids contact.  The player isn't stupid, he's not going to tap it.

Oh, but Connor called it.

Give me a break.

Like he's never said anything that wasn't true.

He wanted a stopage and the faceoff outside the zone.

The linesmen watch the puck a lot closer and they didn't see it.

The NHL has 10x better views of the play and they didn't see it.

It's one thing to rule a kicking motion, that's a judgement call.

It's different with a puck hitting the stick where all they need to see is one view that shows a touch.

That one 5 second video showed IMHO a fluttering puck that didn't stop fluttering after the stick came close to it.

The arc of the puck didn't change whatsoever.

They spent a lot of time (8 minutes?) looking for the touch and didn't see it.

Had the puck movement changed, there might be a better argument for overturning the goal.

Oof Oilers just got jobbed.  Kings high stick not detected even after video review.  Kings goal stands.

Not really jobbed when you were going to lose regardless.

Analysts seem to keep acting surprised that Korpisalo is a really good goalie.

The funny thing is the coach said the the best player in the world saw a high stick touch.

The position of McD at the time was 20 feet away.

Yeah but Woodcroft post game said McD was only 3 feet away, once McD says something it must be always true according to Woodcrofts thoughts.

Point is they still scored.. Touching the puck regardless had no effect on the goal scored , the fluttering puck didn't change from what I seen.
