  1. This is why I hate the growing trend of conditional picks included in trades
  2. Agreed. The fact Sutter apparently has a great relationship with ownership is scary, as he likely has a lot of pull in player movement/acquisition and we all know how we wasted most of Iggys prime with Sutter pulling the strings.
  3. Caught my first game in a long time so its unfortunate to be on the losing end. Couple of things; Pretty bad first period but outside of that I thought the Flames really carried the play for the majority of the game. Only thing worse to me than the final score was the absolute piss-poor job done by the officials tonight. I counted no less than 3 blatant missed calls, one of which should have been a 4-minute high-stick in which the ref was standing directly in front of the play in question and somehow missed it still. Like, did buddy forget to wear his glasses today?
  4. I'm of the mind that Stone has never been better than he is right now. Always been a solid dman, but he has looked progressively better with each new contract.
  5. Absolutely. Its been hard for me to watch much hockey so far. I rely on streams as I dont live in NA and can't justify buying a sports package because most of the games are on during the ungodly hours of the morning.
  6. I heard much about the competitive nature of Johnny Gaudreau during his tenure here, and while it showed at times I dont think it even comes close to the type of edge both Huberdeau and Kadri play with on every shift. Absolute leaders out there.
  7. Was a good hockey game. Won 2 out of 3 periods I thought. Kadri looked great out there and that second line has been clicking so far. Lots of speed and tenacity.
  8. Agreed. I watched a fair bit of Panthers games last season and in my eyes Weegar is one of the best transitional D in the game.
  9. 1. Playoffs YES or NO - Yes, indeed 😁 2. Pacific Division 1 -Calgary 2 -Edmonton 3 -Los Angeles 4 -Vancouver 5 -Vegas 6 -Anaheim 7 -Seattle 8 -San Jose 3 - GOALS 1 -Lindholm 2 -Mangiapane 3 -Toffoli 4 - ASSISTS 1 -Huberdeau 2 -Kadri 3 -Andersson
  10. Despite what we have seen in pre season so far I suspect Dube is in for a big season. 20-20-40 im thinking. His fitness levels over the last 2 seasons and his finish to last season have been encouraging. And like you said, he is still just 24.
  11. I agree with this. Backlund is not the type of 2nd line center you win a cup with. But he is absolutely the type of 3rd line center you win a cup with.
  12. Hubie didn't play with Barkov much. Played most of the season with Bennett and Duclair.
  13. Hubie probably engaged physically more in this game than Gaudreau would in an entire season. Entirely different style of game.
  14. Huberdeau looked good in YYC Vladar was solid as well. Thought Eakin was just okay. Did his job and potted a goal. Milano outside of a few flashy plays wasn't as impactful as id hoped.
  15. I tend to think its the effect Gio had as a leader. It is now being carried on by Backlund. I've heard a lot of players and announcers and such talk about the work ethic of Gio off the ice to always be in pristine condition. When your captain does these things other players (and especially the leadership core) take notice.
  16. I personally think Pelletier and Schwindt are near ready for the NHL. Both were very good on the penalty kill and provided energy. The only thing that concerns me about Schwindt is the turnovers. Klapka is a big boy but lacks polish. Poirier has a lot of talent but needs more seasoning. Was actually pretty impressed with Kuznetsov, he plays a simple and effective defensive game. Zary showed flashes again but also needs more time, as does Pettersen. Solovyov had some poor reads but once he works on his decision making he could be a nightmare to play against. Walker Duehr was once again our best forward. Just provides a ton of energy on every shift and is a relentless forechecker. Could be a dark horse once again for a bottom 6 spot.
  17. Thought Pelletier was good on the PK as well. Plenty of prospects showed flashes but it was a sloppy game. To be expected. Wolf is a special prospect though I will say.
  18. I think it was more of the fact that Lindholm and Backlund can't be on the ice at all times. Sutter specifically mentioned the fact that we were missing a regular C in Mony as a big reason we couldn't stack up as well.
  19. Absolutely. And if you think about championship teams (especially ones under Sutter) they were all very solid down the middle of the ice. The Kings had Kopitar, Richards, Carter and Stoll. Not all star players outside of Kopitar but guys that can eat up minutes and don't give up much defensively. As good as Backlund is he isn't a 2C on a championship squad. Hes the perfect 3C.
  20. According to offseason comments from Sutter, we were mostly exposed at the center position against Edmonton. I've heard him stress the importance of center depth countless times over the years. I believe we may have rectified this issue.
  21. Personally I thought Schwindt looked pretty inconsistent as well. Some good plays but also some completely unforced turnovers.
  22. I'm not sure if Tanev has hit a snag in his recovery, but but by all accounts since last we heard he should be ready by the start of the season and likely even for training camp.
  23. I remember this game vividly. Home opener against Vancouver. Gio scored on a nice wrister from near the blue line. He was not yet part of the leadership group. (Yes it has been that long)
