It's Game Day Biotches

So far, no changes to any lines or pairings except for the goalie.

Marky gets the start today.

Darth Vladar gets NJ tomorrow.

Two wins in a row is nice, but I really wonder about Monahan with Lucic and Ritchie with Mange/Dube.

Neither of those were good the last two games, except for maybe some moments for Mange/Dube.

Classic case of good results covering up a bad process. Not making changes to those forward lines is IMO a bad mistake by Sutter because right now the Flames are being 100% carried by their top line and most of the other new combos have been beaten up, especially the Mang-Dube -Ritchie line. They have been awful.

Mangiapane managed a goal in game 3 and a PP goal in game 4.

Other than that and Coleman's goal in game 2, all of the scoring from line 1.

Balanced?  Not really, unless you classify Ritchie as balancing anything.

Or the need to take an offensive player and slow him down even more.

It is indeed game day you persevering and revitalized Eichel-absorbed maniacs.

Drop your Monahan trade-talks and grab your sox.

Time for 4-in-a-row. No Hughes, Wood, Blackwood or Bernier.

What could possibly go wrong?

Can we play according to our ability and not play down to the opponent?

Nobody was overplayed last night, and if you think about it Monahan and Tkachuk played less minutes than they are used to.

Hard to tell without gameday skate, but it "appears" according to some there will be no changes except in nets.

A little far from home, but I expect Johnny's family will make the trip.

He plays well in front of them.

We would be well to not give time and space to Dougie.

He's got a rocket.

Like the new avatar you have.  Flaming Bread.

I really don't know what to say about Mangiapane's line.

Dube is getting chances and helping keep the puck moving in the right direction.

It still seems like Ritchie is a waste of real estate.

He does good things, but I think he would be more useful in a 4th line role.

Monahan is starting to look more himself, but he can't float Lucic and Lewis.

That's a tall order.

Whatever.  The team is gelling.  Have played some weak sisters, but we have looked good in every game regardless.

Defensive pairs are relatively even for skill/skating.  No real 3rd pair that struggles (no Ceci/Keith).

Most of the top 6 performing at a top level.

3rd line is getting better and can create havoc.

Goalies both keeping the team in it during lulls of play.

Pitts will be a test on how we deal with a hard forecheck and fast team.

Hard to believe Saturday will mark only our 2nd home game.

Max 2 days off before the 5 game roadie.

1 day off before the home game.

Critical stretch coming up.

1 game in PITTS.

5 game home stand.

7 game roadie with a B2B to start (MTL/TOR) and another to finish (NYI/BOS).

It is gameday ex-Eichel fans, and this might be good news:

https://www.nhl.com/flames/news/flames-recall-walker-duehr/c-327564744

Walker should add some jam to the team.

Not sure how they plan to use him.

Would be an obvious fit with Mange and Dubbs, but what do I know.

As far as NHL ready, he is one of the few in Stockton to actually show up in camp.

By far Ruzicka is showing as being too good for the AHL.

But, you know, can be frustrating for consistency.

As far as fit, Ruzicka would need to play LW or C, so replacing Ritchie with Duehr makes sense.

Would be cool for Duehr to win a spot. Great first step speed, decent snipe, can be physical enough.

I suspect he might be a more offensive player than say Lewis.

Will see what he looks like with Dube if that's the plan.  Hope so.

Either that or move Monahan up.

Unfortunately, I get the sense that Duehr will get the inevitable healthy scratch treatment.

Richardson will likely slot in with Monahan and Lewis.

Lucis will get bumped up to Dube's line moving Mange to RW.

Hard to say, lots of options. Duehr may have arrived late though...

He didn't dress last night's game, so he was likely already here.

EDIT - I may sound overly negative, but Richardson has done nothing since being acquired.  Played a few pre-season game and hasn't had any game time since.  AT least Duehr has games played.  Did you see anything of Richardson that would lead you to believe he's worth playing?

Richardson is here for 4th line duties and the PK.  Replaces Ryan's role... At a fraction of Monahan's salary I'd hate to add.

According to Sutter in his presser said Dueher is a RW and we had a right winger go down, that is what they need for the roster. It would be nice if he gets in with Dube and Mags, I would say he would do quite well.

Absolutely.

We shall see who actually slots in.

Well, I was hoping the Ritchie thing would change. Mony could move back to that line, Richardson C the 4th line if Duehr isn't drawing in. That's the only other way that I'm okay with. Sutter did say all 30 guys would play...

Something I didn't give much thought to.... the covid thing sure makes me happy we have lots of bodies.

That kinda how I thought it would be without even considering Duehr.

If ever a city needed a good, sound beating, LET'S DO THIS THING!!

I am okay with TOTAL DOMINATION.

Doesn't allow us to puff out our chest too much, since it's Ottawa.

g-g-g-g-Game Day

Turn and face the strange

g-g-Game Day

ooh look out, you rocknrollers

First question...do you roll out Vladar again?

Ride the hot goalie or keep both rolling?

2nd question/demand lol, keep Duehr in.

Can Philly decide which of Gud-Z they'd prefer to dump the puck towards? One thing I was reading when we got Z is that the dump-and-chase and zone entries tend to avoid his side due to hitting. Now what with Gud on the other side?
