With all the pieces the Oilers took, I have no way to figure out how they get Neal or Klefbom or Russell back in.

They need to keep him from getting 2 more goals.  The only thing is AA may make the Real Deal look like Jere Lehtinen

They can only keep him on IR is the doc says it's okay.

They could scratch him once healthy.

But the point is the dollars against the cap.

I know this time of year, a big salary means less (% of AAV), but it's still a fair bit to come back in.

Neal and Klefbom are almost $10m.

Russel is 4m, but he's probably done for the season.

Will come back for the playoffs.

I can;t figure out the dolars myself.

It changes every game.

Bit late, but found this funny last night

Kassian caught Johns with a very similar hit to the one Tkachuk got him with.

”Good, clean hit” from the Oilers crew, then compared it to the Tkachuk hit.

They all whined about it when it happened to Kassian. Hypocrites

Are you saying they said they were basically the same, and the whining was when it happened?

I watched the Dallas-Oilers game.

There was no way the Oilers should have been in the game.

I know Dallas doesn;t score much, but they completely dominated the Stars.

Talk about an un-earned win.

Kassian clobbered Johns. That's fine to the Oil crew, then they mention it was like the Tkachuk hit. But a 6 weeks ago when the hit happened, it was malicious, dirty, but when it's an Oiler it's good "battle level" as Loui Debrusk would say

When I watch an Oilers game, I turn the sound off.

Quinn gets so excited when an Oiler has the puck he can barely contain himself.

Every post whistle scene is McDavid skating to the bench or back to the circle.

They never focus the replays on the dirty hits, or the penalties he avoids.

It's annoying to listen to.

Louie is about the most one-sided color guy I have ever heard.

The other team scores, it was a breakdown of the Oilers.

Not a positive for hard work but a negative for poor work.

TBH, I don;t even have the sound up for a BOA game in EDM.

Doesn;t matter what the score is, the Flames are not the reason for a win or loss.

Can’t stand them either. I mean I watch a lot of Oiler games, because I love hockey and blackouts are a thing. But those two are terrible. I’ll often be doing some work while the game is in the background and you can hear Kevin Quinn getting riled up because Mcd has the puck, I’m thinking it’s a scoring chance and here it’s a 1 on 3 while the Oilers are changing LOL

Then when they score, my goodness it’s painful, let alone an OT win. No wonder Rick Ball does playoff games and he sits at home .

You would think a team that has two top end players would find a better commentator to make games more enjoyable. Quinn can go work for a US team where nobody watches

IIRC, last year EDM faced teams that had played the night before more than any other team in the league.

They would play EDM after playing us or sometimes after playing the Canucks.

This year is no different.

I think they have close to the most of that again.

Next week they play Vegas the day after we play Vegas.

2 games later, they face the NYI the night after we play them.

The East's version of a B2B is play in Tampa and then in Miami.

Or Play NYI and NYR or NJ.

Those games you could stay at the same hotel for all 3 games.

Sad news on the oilers front today as Colby Cave passed away at age 25.  Sad to see anyone die so young.  I believe he died after a brain operation trying to treat a brain bleed.

It was sad news...   For those that didn't know what happened, as ABC923 said, it started with a brain bleed, and then he had surgery on Tuesday to remove a cyst that was putting pressure on his brain...   https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/edmonton-oilers-forward-colby-cave-dies-age-25/

Condolences for his family and friends...   Tough thing to go through for anyone, especially since he was so young...   RIP Colby...

I can’t think of a pro sports franchise in recent memory that has done less with what they’ve been gifted than the Oilers.

it’s almost amazing at this point.

And yet, they can't even seem to understand how badly they play on a regular basis.

They were only a > 500 team due to the PP and to a lesser extent the PK.

Have two of the best players in hockey, yet can't design a modern lineup.

They both need help in playing without the puck, and it may just be poor coaching or not buying into a plan.

Kassian is a dinosaur.

Neal is a PP specialist that bleed more goals then he scores.

Nurse is one of the worst D-men in the league.

Klefbom is okay.

Bear is pretty good.

Larsson does nothing but hit.

No 3rd and 4th line C's.

They don't even have wingers for McD.

Looking at their roster signed for next season, they are as bad off as they were before Holland came.

AA and Bear need new deals, and the only one worth anything is Bear.

I can't believe Nurse is making $5.6m.

What a joke.

They have no forwards other than Yamamoto that are NHL ready (or capable IMHO).

Their biggest hope past Broberg is Bouchard.

Another Nurse without the NHL level skating.

Lavoie is perfect for their team.

Possibly only a 1st and 5th through 7th.

The pain will continue until Holland cleans out the trash.

The Oilers biggest issue is that they have two of the most skilled players in the league, but untill those two figure out that they have to play just as hard away from the puck as they do with the puck, they are never going to win anything.

Everytime McDavid makes a highlight reel goal hcokey media gushes over him, and talk about how he is the best player in the league. Till he figures out the defensive side of the game he isn't a top 5 center in this league, guys like Crosby, Bergeron, Toews, O'Reilly, Barkov are all better players than McDavid right now. He has the ability to be better than those guys, but right now he thinks putting up points is the only way to win.

Draisaitl will never figure it out, he is way too lazy and takes too many days off. Great offensive player has no idea where the defensive zone is.

and yet, Draisaitl is going to win the Hart Trophy this year. Not that I’ve seen him play that much though, so I dunno...

Which is a shame why we ended up handcuffed to the Lucic contract. Oilers would have been so screwed having his NTC in place, probably would have to let a player like Nurse exposed to the expansion draft.

Still means nothing though, 12 out of 13 years and no playoffs! That kind of stink is hard to wash out. Draisatl and McDavid MUST put up multi point games in order for the Oilers to win games...that’s not the signs of a good team...which they obviously aren’t lol. Damn though 12 out of 13 years though! They even had home ice advantage the entire playoffs!

Don’t be surprised when the Coilers land Lafrieniere! Holland will know what to do with that kind of trio of talent, he’s the most sensible GM they’ve had in a decade.
