Adirondack Flames Updates [2014-15]

Recommended Posts

Is there a Flames fan alive that wants this guy in our system after this incident? Highly unlikely.

Get this berserker out of our system.

Who do we contact in the Flames mgmt to voice our utter contempt to?

This could have been a Gaudreau-sized player, it was simply the 1st guy he could grab in his rage. You can easily see the force he tried to slam Carrier into the ice with before awaking from his rage.

Unforgivable, no apology accepted, this guy needs counselling.

This is beyond despicable, even Bertuzzi's split second lack of foresight pails in comparison.

Even MacSorley's stick to the head didn't carry intentions like this did.

This guy can snap like this? Please Flames, drop him, like, right now.

Want to give hockey a REEEAAAL bad name? Give this guy a chance to snap like this again.

Anyone have an adjective to describe this? I'm out of words.

Despicable, disgusting, atrocity, contemptible...none quite cut it.

It's a low day to have seen this in our system.

I hope mgmt can see the positive in a knee jerk reaction in this instance.

Drop this guy. Show respect for your fellow mgmt teams.

Or invite them to pull this, I don't know...thing, on our players.

Seems pretty clear to me.

FLAMES DOWNED BY DEVILS IN HOME OPENER - adirondackflames.com

Adirondack fails in home opener to Baby Devils.

The taint of Scorch's debut spills over to team.

Slow start, but given the apparent talent on our farm team, they will start to prevail going forward. B)

And in more Scorch-related news......

Flames to replace controversial mascot.

GLENS FALLS -- Scorch, the original mascot of the Adirondack Flames, will not take the ice, after a controversial preseason unveiling skit in which the puck-head mascot overpowered an actor portraying a Glens Falls firefighter.

“We’re extinguishing Scorch,” Brian Petrovek, president of the Adirondack Flames, said in an interview on Tuesday. “The misjudgment we made was such that we came to that decision.”

The team issued an apology for the skit on Oct. 9, shortly after The Post-Star reported about it.

The mascot did not appear at the Flames’ home opener at the Glens Falls Civic Center on Saturday, and will not appear ever.

Petrovek said the management is designing a new mascot that will be associated with fun, not fear.

Adirondack Flames Snuff Out Scorch, The Firefighter-Murdering Mascot - Barry Petchesky - deadspin.com

Excerpt (Check link for full article):

The Flames quickly released a statement apologizing for the particulars of Scorch's unveiling, but the damage was done. Scorch is, after all, a cheaply constructed anthropomorphic flame whose only possible upshot is teaching kids it's OK to touch fire.

So even as the embers of Trevor Gillies's inexplicable hockey career still smolder, the Flames poured a bucket of sand on top of Scorch, and then kicked some wet earth over his ashes.

:P

Scorch..You're gone before I even got a chance to meet you.

You were so extremely bad you were great.

I will always remember what could have been!

Adirondack looking to end their winless streak against the Flyers AHL farm team (last yr's Adirondack Phantoms).

This team includes ex-NHLers Zack Stortini & Jay Rosehill justifying the need for similar players in our system to counter this. The tough guy / enforcer days are not over yet.

Many people's pre-season enthusiasm about having a supremely talented Calder Cup challenging team is slowly fading away. Baby Flames - Turn it around NOW!

4 consecutive losses to start the season. 1 consolation pt for pushing it to OT tonight.

Hopefully the team morale holds up as there should be wins galore in the months ahead.

Replay tomorrow night against same team, but in Glens Falls.

3 games in 3 nights & we thought the Calgary Flames had a tough season starting schedule.
