  1. 💯... Washington likely has no cup without DSP..and there is a reason Pat Maroon still has a job.
  2. My guess is top 4 D and centers .. we have mega depth at wing.. and d that will be worked in.. but if we can we should target a top 2 center .one that's not expecting high term ...and d that can play minutes in the top 4
  3. Except you forget Yegor plays all 3 forward positions including center ... Power play, and kills penalties .. does he need more experience at all 3, sure , but in the end he's not "just a winger" But .. what is gonna happen , will happen.. I was highly relieved when Connie outlined just what the plan and blueprint is.. it is 100% NOT bottoming out .. it's getting better every year ..kids what played this year need to take a step next year .. He named Dallas as the model.. Veteran core at all 5 positions ..so don't expect him to be shopping Markstrom.. if NJ wants to blow us away , maybe he listens ..but if that happens expect a vet quality starter to come back thru the door ( Talbot?) I don't rule it out cuz when asked about Markstrom he did say " we'll see" Trades will be for ages 18-23 Free agency ..expect some reinforcements from there .. likely nothing long term or high ticket but significant adds From there..need to hit on draft picks on all rounds .. expect him to be more frugal with trading any picks than his predecessors. Quantity gives you a higher chance of hitting quality Again.. we can hope..we can wish all we want , but that is the blueprint in action straight from the source
  4. He was behind 2 potential future hall of famers.. I'd say if we get ourselves a hischier and a Hughes that's a great problem to have ..worst case he'll still have great trade value to a team that doesn't have that luxury
  5. Agreed .. I don't put a whole lot of stock on those statements unless they're definitive . I do like Kadri shutting it down for example ..he likes it here ..wants to be here ..period I would argue however that yegor should be a key piece. Yes it was a career year ..but that was due to where he played in the lineup. This wasn't truly a breakout becaue in NJ when he was given the opportunity to play up the lineup, he produced at the same rate he produced here .he just got buried down the lineup due to the Hughes ' and Hischers ahead of him. He got I think it was 22 in NJ his rookie year cuz he was played higher .. I think you can safely consider him a 25-30 goal scorer . Giving him the contract you tried giving Lindholm would make sense to me
  6. To me, changes to equip started to evolve around the time goalies started to get bigger . In the old days they relied heavily on athleticism. Bernie Parent was the first to really master the incorporation of angles..made him dominant . Nearly every goalie had some form of cheat code.. I recall Marc D'amour had a cheat web on his catcher .. rules started coming in regarding cheats like that ..and soon they regulated size and dimensions of equipment . An important note is Roman Turek, due to his "size " had to get special league permission to wear what was classified as illegal due to the fact he was the tallest goalie the NHL had ever seen ...he was 6'4.. nowadays 6'4 is passable .. Wolf is 6' and has heard the knock on his size his entire career.. hed have been a big goalie in the old days .. probabaly a first rounder . Goalies were getting so big they practically just had to stand there and let pucks hit them.. so changes were made to not let them get even bigger due to their equipment... Now goalies are not just big but they are getting athletic again. A reason markstrom is so good
  7. So the season of overreacting to players exit comments has now begun.. first one to the podium is Yegor . When asked he sees himself here long term ..was pretty non committal.. Personally I take that as he's young, just had a break out season and wants to be paid ..if that's all it is I don't have much concern that will be done .in fact it should be a priority .. Playing devil's advocate..maybe he doesn't see himself here .. west coast, big market..all the usual.. how long do we give Conny to translate that into the sign or you're being traded ultimatum? I think it's important not to have distractions next seasons like we did this year ..players like yegor and mangiapane need to be dealt with before the season starts . Again personally I think he will be Priority signing for Conny ..but if has to be traded then he's a player you should be able to get a haul for
  8. Barring a lotto win Into the top 5, and fully ignoring who his dad is .. the more I see of Tij the more I think taking him in the top 10 isn't a reach.. none of the regular players I see consistently In the 6-10 range wow me as much as the potential he's showing
  9. Hard no for me .. it's like returning to the scene of the crime..he pushed the first domino ..Johnny had more down years than up and the truth is we no longer have the supporting cast to maximize his skillset .. Huberdeau is finally getting chemistry with some players ..second half of this season he's looked more like the guy we traded for .. no think passes.. his linemates expect them now and capitalize .. i think it would set us back at least 2-3 yeare.. Tbh.. i see a lot of Johnny in Zary.. the zone entries, the iq.. until he got hurt he was legitimately in the Calder finalist conversation
  10. Absolutely.. that's part of the runway required . 60 games in the A where you're relatively not breaking a sweat is about the same grind as 20 in the NHL.. play him with a guy who knows what it takes ..has done the grind ..Marky was on waivers a few times in his career before he locked in Talbot never fails to give his time with the King in NY as invaluable to his career now ..didn't play a ton but saw first hand what a player like that does ..prep, mental attitude.. it's more than just competition
  11. I figured somebody would bring that up.. just purely professionally he hit the skids long before that stuff hit the fan. He was garbage a soon as they handed him the ball his second season .. wasn't ready . The list is way longer ... Martin Jones..and I'll go to my grave saying Kidd was Mishandled ..but with him it was more than just being given too much too early.. In a perfect world , Markstrom with 2 years left is the ideal runway for Wolf.. in reality they likely will trade Marky.. I just pray they bring in a solid #1 to pace him in.. looking at the UFA market the only one that fits the bill is Talbot
  12. Agreed .. I don't think many of the pro wolf fanatics realize , that if he is to be brought along properly. He's about 3 seasons away.. You look at the top goalies in the league.. the vasilevskys, the hellybucks, the Gibson's ..the Saros's.. they got to where they are by following the proper path . year of pure backup . Maybe 20 games? Then more of a split where they start showing they are the next man up.. 3rd season they displace the master .. The flip side of the coin you have the Harts , the Knights.. the ones who burst on the scene and get too much too soon.. they get ruined
  13. I still don't think it was botched .. we had a price and it wasnt met ..simple . But., playing devil's advocate ..if the reports are true that NJ is still hot for markstrom.. theyre sliding quite nicely Into that high pick range with their slide . Cory Schneider fetched a 5th overall... Now we're wading into fair return category
  14. Slight administrative error there . They'll have to redo his contract ..but this year was a pto so that isn't affected for him to join the wranglers Apparently the age is based on Sept 15 not actual age at signing . 25 is too old for an ELC...
  15. Honest question .. when did he go off on the owners? He was seen yelling and slamming doors . But that ties right in with the notion he needed to find Murray and lost the deal because he couldn't
