Great article on the Russian Goalie ..and why he was under the radar

Gone are the days of picking Mason MacDonald.

A Russian goalie is not a bad plan, since we have improved scouting there.

Sigalet also said Yegorov was a guy who played 5 games the year they drafted him, playing behind two other goalies, and it was in his mechanics from what he saw in those 5 games and the discussions with Yegorov's coaches.

that might unsettling for those that believe games is what we need to see, remember Rinne was a backup behind good goalie and was picked on a suggestion of his team coach.

Impressive...thanks for that...feel pretty stoked about him...seems like Sigalet is good at finding hidden gems in Russia like Yegorov last year

Yep..sounds like basically he played for such a horrendous team they probabaly didn't get scouted much .. but yet he still had very impressive stats against very good teams

Ok so looking at Cgy’s D depth players under 25 as of now in no particular order:

L/R

Bahl/Parekh

Grushnikov/Brzustewicz

Kuznetsov/Mews

Poirier/Pachal

jurmo/

Okhotuk/

that’s looking pretty good and not including guys still Under 30

Kylington/Anderson

/Miromanov

looking at the D in this way, it’s pretty clear why RS RD was the priority in the draft, some pretty serious potential for weapons on the RS…and Grushnikov is projected to be Tanve like that’s a solid D core…not including any “touch up young D that could be had by trades”

back stopped by wolf…

it’s pretty obvious, this is a rebuilding, teams generally, not always, but generally build from net out, especially if your not getting any top 5 prospects.  it’s pretty clear what play book Conroy is using now.

Hard to get a read on the Flames goalie drafting.

Wolf was a great pick.

Chechelev struggled in the ECHL, now he's back in Russia.

Sergeev has posted good NCAA numbers, but has only played 35 games in two years,

Hard to get a feel for what  Yegorov is.

Historically, the Flames have been quite poor at finding goalies though
