Mid elliott stopped the few goals he let in that he did see, the series might have been different. Maybe we do only win win two games. Hopefully a few of those losses were a learning experience NOT to take the foot off of the gas.
  2. Thats the drawbacks of not having a farm team close to home. Maybe, being only a couple of years in, they have to build up a fan base and in time they can stay. It is hard to build the fans when we move the team every few years. They should move them to Saskatoon or Regina or something like that, then they at least build something close to Alberta to create loyalty.

Right now I would take the Chris Osgood that won a few cups. You can say goalies like him or Crawford are just average goalies and win due to their circumstances, well, in our circumstance, if we had league average tending with saves made when needed (when cold), then we could've had a different fate. I am with you on chances. It is annoying. They did the same in the Fleury deal.

I finally put blame on the goalies because we did outplay Anaheim in all games. A few were closer and one should have been a blowout. the team made mental mistakes in them yes. But when the goalie can't make a fundamental save in the most critical times, that is troubling. I don't want to give the team a pass as there were bad changes; the team taking the foot off the pedal; and other problems as well. i am not usually one to blame goalies but I don't like it when we have a great lead and a goalie can't make a save to save his life.
  5. I am torn between giving the guy the starts because he is the future, but some believe you gotta earn it by your play. As much as I want someone to earn it, you also don't get the experience by riding the pine.
  6. Yup! everything that made Hartley successful the year before, he did opposite in the year of the three. We still need a goalie. A better one than Elliott. How can a team be outplaying the other and then your goalie loses simple goaltending fundamentals? That can't happen in the playoffs.
  7. Then isn't that a condemnation of our scouts? If we can't credit Feaster for good draft picks, then we can't give any other GMs credit either. I give credit to Feaster, but others wouldn't. I agree, the talent isn't there, while I still wonder about some as they're still developing. How long does it take to develop though?
  8. If you mean the team that beat a crappy Canucks team in the playoffs, sure. But, the luck of the year allowed us to win a round. That was just a weird year all around. I hate when anyone quotes that year, because it's just not sustainable and will never happen again (for us).

I think he looked a bit awkward. But at the same time, I could see his upside. It just said to me that he needs more minutes than what he has gotten.

I am not saying we dominate all the time, but I just want a goalie who can make a save when we have carried most of the play. When Elliott got cold he couldn't make a save.

One of Elliott's biggest problems this year has been between the ears when he doesn't get any action. He looked bad last night because he didn't see enough pucks. We we need someone who can play in all situations. I get it's tough when you're not warm, but come on, just make some saves!
  12. Thats not how it works though. How many spills go on the province and not the company? Here in BC they had a huge mine run off into a well to contain it. That well broke and they just let it run into the fresh water lake, no repercussions to the company. Just before it happened, BC lowered their regulations on such matters as well. Drinking water and animlal life does not matter to big business or government... i definitely do not like this and believe government has to hold them accountable. But when the government gets kickbacks and donations from these companies, they're going to be lenient. The system isnt isn't a true democracy when corporations run the government.
  13. I guess if you're able to sell it off for the price of the cleanup, bit by bit and then get land taxes off of them, then that could be better off for the city?
  14. I don't know Calgary at all. Is it a central location? A place where they'd like to bring new business and opportunity?
  15. Calgary Next put it into the proposal, if I remember correctly? That could also be what kills that project, business trying to tell govt how to do their job?
  16. Maybe the city just didn't like the really ugly stadiums they proposed. IT would look horrible in the landscape.
  17. How often are those assessments accurate as well. Although, a lot of the time, it's the contractors hired to do the job that don't get things done in time as planned.
  18. I think from the limited time we saw Jokipakka last and this year, he took a step backwards. But then, we were not in a playoff race when we got him and other teams didn't take us seriously then, so it is hard to judge. but to me, he took a step backwards. I liked what I saw last season, this year he looked bad most of the time.
  19. They signed him for the Vegas draft I think. I think he is ok. We can't expect that much more for third pair. At home he is fine because we get to line match, whereas I think he gets beat up on the road because the home team gets last change.
  20. I agree. But neither has Brodie and Stone for the past few games. Brodie seems to be back to making a lot of mental mistakes. I think those stand out more to me only because I don't expect that from him and what we know of his ability. So I probably scrutinize him a bit more because of it. Engelland has started to look a bit slower too. And that is probably fatigue. They're now playing every other night, which, even though not back to backs, is still tiresome. Not to give them excuses. But I think you're right, it would be a good idea to give some guys a game off for maintenance and Andersson's new energy could be what the team needs.
  21. In the grand scheme of things, he is realistically/probably better anyone else in our system. So depth isn't quite there. Is Kulak better? Maybe at times he has shown signs. They signed him so that they'd have someone to expose for the expansion draft. Overall, I think the D has looked better with both Stone and Bartkowski. I don't think he is the long term answer. Our D is far from its final look...
  22. http://www.tsn.ca/talent/hamilton-and-giordano-are-the-best-pairing-in-hockey-1.704373 We have the best pair in the league according to Travis Yost. I wonder how the Brodie/Stone pair rank in the last few weeks, as it might be a small sample size to work from.
  23. He hasn't put up very many points. Does that mean a stay at home?
  24. Wouldn't there be a greenhouse effect on sunny days during Winter? Or are Calgary winters cold enough that it won't effect it?
  25. What do you think of that design? Is the see through dome a good idea? Why orange? Should use red as a base colour.
