  1. They have been playing better but it seems like they’re just trying to stay afloat this year. That record is pretty good but far from that of a dominant team. I’m happy when they win games I just have yet to feel convinced as I mentioned. They aren’t a bad team but they also aren’t very good either, that’s what’s been frustrating to watch this year. They may be keeping pace with the division but realistically I don’t see this team having more success than last year unfortunately. Regarding trades…are we just 1 player or trade away from getting over the hump? Or does the DNA of this team/organization need a complete refresh?
  2. Everybody dropped some very valid points. The Flames still lack the depth and the internal development required to be a true contender. We don’t have enough players with the talent to consistently play at high levels. We work hard and take a ton of shots but that’s about it. We still struggle to score with consistency, with Marky in net we can’t even hold a lead. The depth and talent amongst our prospects is dwindling again, no true saviours in sight. We’re trending to be another rendition of the middling Flames, not bad but not great. We don’t have the right mix of players as many of you have stated. I think LouCifer hit the nail on it’s head, overall this team isn’t entertaining. It’s just not as fun to watch them, when they win it’s fine but I’ve yet to feel fully convinced by this team this season. We aren’t even THAT far behind in the standings but my belief just isn’t there this year. The flux of our coaches, players just doesn’t feel right at the moment. It was a tough off season but the team has definitely regressed. It’s not all doom and gloom there have been a few bright spots, such as Vladar stepping up most nights. Who the Flames are still remains to be seen, both now and moving forward. So far though, this team just ain’t it this year.
  3. Why not “blow it up?”…atleast try something different. This thread keeps getting bumped for a reason. This team isn’t the one and we all know that by now. We’ve become so complacent with the mediocrity of this team over the years. It is not working here, that has to be clear by now.
  4. It’s so hard to trust this team. Marky still hasn’t shown #1 goalie consistency this season, it’s drained a lot of momentum out of this team so far
  5. Everything about this team looks predictable at the moment
  6. Yeah this is legit a very bad trend of this team. Haven’t put together a complete game yet, we’ve just been behind the ball of late. Tanev being injured isn’t going to help things. Trailing early…perfect recipe for a comeback!
  7. I’d have to do a deeper dive but I’d be curious to know what our prospect pool would rate as. We have maybe 2 high end prospects in corronato and Wolf but things fall off a cliff from there. There’s not much too look forward to when looking at our pipeline as is. At face value we likely aren’t any higher than a C - right now.
  8. A generational player is definitely what this organization has been lacking. Tough blow losing talents like Gaudreau and Tkachuk but we don’t have any elite players at the moment. Huberdeau has the skill set it just hasn’t come together for him here yet. The Flames have been a fairly average team for years now. Not saying we adopt a tank philosophy but our pipeline needs some fresh and preferably elite talent. Of course, it’s easier said than done!
  9. Hard earned point and Marky played well…but we’re still pilling up losses
  10. Lots of turnover this off season, over a quarter of the way thru this season and this team is still in the process of finding itself. I can’t say any of the new additions have firmly solidified a role just yet. Let’s hope Sutter gets this team firing on all cylinders and establishes a winning identity before it’s too late!
  11. Been a long road for Matthew Phillips! Hoping the kid gets a good look with his recent call up. He’s by far one of most skilled players in the organization, he could bring something we lost with Gaudreau’s departure
  12. Already down 2-0 against the hapless Bluejackets…I’m still trying to decide what the heck this Flames team is this year. I can’t say they’ve been very entertaining to watch this season. We’ll see if they can put together another comeback win
  13. 23 games in and Flames still searching for their game, need to get things figured out here sooner than later, missing the playoffs could be a thing this year
  14. No more feet to even shoot at…Flames blew them off a while back. Self inflicted of course!
  15. How bad is it that I already trust Vladar over Marky this early in the season ?
  16. Of course we gift the opponent a momentum killing tying goal!
  17. It’ll be years before we can fully judge the trade. Right now as it stands, we don’t appear to be a better team than last seasons iteration. I think Huberdeau and Weegar will eventually find they footing. Trelivings hands were tied this off-season and he still did remarkably well considering the challenges. I’d love to have known the full details of the other offers so we can compare “what if” scenarios. I’m thinking if Markstrom continues to struggle he could be one of the bigger chips to be considered for the trade block…don’t think it’ll happen this year but he’s has been labouring off late, u could argue he has cost us a number of games already this season.
  18. Huberdeau 13 pts Weegar 6pts Tkachuk 32 pts We’ll it looks like Treliving may have got fleeced afterall! Tkachuk has been a major win for Florida, has more points than both Hubbie and Weegs combined. It’s still a young season but so far the returns haven’t yielded great results for the Flames. Not to mention Tkachuk is almost 6 years younger than Hubbie just to add to the sting. Ultimately the players need to show up so can’t peg this all on Treliving, but so far we look no better than mediocre as a team. Markstroms struggles are only making things worse, at what point do you consider moving Markstrom …while he still has high value?
  19. This has the makings of a nice Revenge game. Flames will need their legs early against this years improved Devils squad. Flames have been playing well just haven’t been getting the end result, besidesTuesdays are great days for tacos and beating the Devils! Let’s go Flames!!! And now I actually want some tacos…
  20. So..we’re 10 games in and are pretty much a .500 team riding a losing streak at the moment. 10 games in seems like a really good time to panic lol…how are we feeling about the 2022-2023 Flames thus far?
  21. Smart pickup by ARZ especially if their still shopping Chychrun. Sadly a wasted investment by the Flames.
  22. 1. Playoffs YES 2. Pacific Division 1 -Coilers 2 -LA Kings 3 -Vegas 4 -Flames 5 -Canucks 6 -Kraken 7 -Ducks 8 -Sharks 3 - GOALS 1 -Lindholm 2 -Mangiapiane 3 -Toffoli 4 - ASSISTS 1 -Huberdeau 2 -Kadri 3 -Lindholm Think it’ll take the first 20 games for the Flames to really start gelling. Scoring will likely be harder to come by this season, think a slow start will have us lower in the standings but still playoff worthy. Thanks to RocketDoctor for the thread!
  23. Congrats to Sutter for getting the extension, this makes sense on many levels. I personally would have preferred waiting until the end of this season to extend him just to get a better pulse on what we have as a team after all these moves. He did manage to turn things around for the franchise however I still feel as if he was out coached during that embarrassing playoff exit loss to the Coilers. He’s very good at implementing the structure and discipline necessary to build a strong foundation, no arguments there. I’m just not completely sold on his ability as an X’s and O’s tactician to outsmart opponents, and adjust on the fly. IMO he might be bit a over reliant on his teams being hardworking, it’s almost like a “work harder not smarter” approach. So far it’s been enough to get us into the playoffs which is great but have we seen all Sutter can bring or is there yet another level and gear to this team he can unlock?
  24. Hey Peeps! Got the message, you know I’m in!
  25. What’s your point exactly ? Just list any player who’s had a concussion??…Like 95% of the ppl u list started playing before any serious concussion protocols were introduced in sport. Your examples are weak, clearly your missing the point entirely. With the advent of CTE in todays day and age, not to mention the elimination of any contact to the head in todays game, your point is moot. In hindsight, knowing what we know today do you think Bobby Orr would keep just shrugging it off as headaches. Let alone be allowed to re-enter the game? Damn Man U missed the point so bad you’d think you’ve been concussed yourself
