Hill has been better than Markstrom, just hasn’t been healthy. Vegas just signed Hill to a big extension, they have no need or reason to trade for Markstrom.

Like I said unlikely but you never know…haven’t seen this kinda delay in trades before…something is odd, definitely more to this than meets the eye….

It’s gonna be either a horrible trade for Cgy or it’s gonna be great…hopefully the later.

this 3rd party team has me also wondering, maybe it’s NJD, maybe Tofolli to LVK too he’s a

RW like they are looking for…Marky to NJD and who knows what Cgy gets? This could explain the need to clear roster room for the deal?

So much speculation, so little information...

The Fan thinks Maybe they are negotiating an extension on Hanifin's contract. And it's taking a bit to work it out a bit... Some salary negotiations take awhile...

if true is this effecting the return? And if so why not wait on getting that sorted out first? Not making much sense…the extension unless it’s a sign and trade which effects the return, otherwise it’s a rental

trade and Hanifin and LVK work it out…

My guess is blockbuster 3 team move with LVK, NJD and Cgy with Markstrom going to NJD, Hanifin to

LVK and Cgy??

I hope so.  Since you cannot put trade conditions on re-signing a player.  Maybe the hold up is VGK is negotiating an extension with Hanifin for a few hours.  Then we get the final trade call.

But why? If it’s a rental trade Hanifin and LVK work it out. If it’s a sign and trade they would have had this kinda figured out already and the returns would be pretty much in place…at least there would be an idea of the return outside of the AHL D player we know as part of the return, and why would the roster spot matter so much? Still thinking it’s much more than the extension and retention..

Or Pat Brisson doing Pat Brisson things?

Unrelated, but LA extends Moveare after putting him on the waiver wire.

How does that work?

player/agent wanted more money. Team puts player on waivers to show he has no leverage and no one wants him. Then he signs for LAs offer?

So, the trade was sent to the nhl and they told LVK they need to find a 3rd party to take salary? Maybe they thought Cgy retention was enough with using LTIR but it fell

short So now They are scrambling to

find a 3rds party willing to take salary but maybe it’s a heft price since they need it, maybe LVK is shopping around 3rd party brokers for the best deal?

the thing that doesn’t make

sense here is why then is Hanifin to LVK confirmed but not the final return? Something is not

adding up

It never went to the NHL. My guess is that Calgary and Vegas have agreed to a deal in principle. Vegas is now trying to get a 3rd party broker to take on cap, because Vegas still wants to add another winger and wants to make sure they have room to do it.

This is pretty normal this time of

year.

Pretty bad that we have people still posting the trade with players but not even mentioning the one player that is suppsosedly in the deal.  I doubt that the Russian D is the piece that gets them enough cap space or contract numbers to finalize it.  Would need someone like Hague to make the cap better for them, if they want to make more deals.  That player alone shouldn't be the main piece either.

Intrigued to see the return but as soon as the first domino fell earlier I had a strong feeling Hanifin would be dealt today.

He was put in the 4th pairing with Oesterle in practice, so they "knew" a deal was coming before the game Thursday.
