  1. The rental proce used to be like the Chiarot deal. 1st, 4th and a prospect.
  2. I've always thought Hanifin might be one of the locker room boys, along with Lindholm. Not so much that they are cancer, just that they sometimes play to not get hurt. Can't remember the last time that Hanifin blocked a shot. Lindholm just doesn't always look like his head is in the game. I suspect they may be one or two left. They aren't obvious, so maybe they are gone.
  3. I was trying to come up with something from them that made any sense. He's about the youngest guy, that's a C, that is overpaid but maybe worth close to it. Just goes to show you how bad a trade partner they are. F Tampa. I don't know what his issue is. Not the same as Gaudreau. Just wants to go to the US. He has what 8 teams that he won't go to? Well bud, if you want to go to team 24 on your list, keep the M-NTC firm. We will trade to the team that offers the most. And they might not want you past the playoffs with your somewhat lazy play. And Tampa may not want you when they start looking at their cap. I would be more than happy to send you to NJ or FLA, but ony based on who pays more. A team thinking he wants to go there may not offer as much. A team needing a D may look at the coming playoffs and weigh the risk. Like rentals always used to be. Since when do re-signings play into it?
  4. Okay, so 2026 1st (no lotto protection), Etan Guathier and Cirelli. That would give better value to holding until 2026 to get the 1st.
  5. Haha I was just about to post that. I don't care what they do as long as they make the conference finals to upgrade our pick. Then again, if they don't we get the better of the 4th rounders between theirs and NJ's. a 29th place 3rd or a 12-16th place 4th. Not a huge difference.
  6. He doesn't block Kylington, since he's generally a 12-13 minute guy. He blocks (hopefully) Oesterle. Right now, Oesterle and Gilbert are blocking Kuz and Solo. When Hanifin goes, we can't have Solo and Kuz playing as a pair. Need a vet to show them the ropes. And unfortunately that's likely next season when Oesterle is gone.
  7. Considering our depth, Pachal is actually better suited right now for the top 4. If we get another D in trade, we still have a young bottom pair. Oesterle hasn't done enough to get an extension. For the present, Hanley would be a good idea to pair with Gilbert or Solo. Not a vet with a ton of NHL games, but a vet that played in a good D structure. EDIT - I should have said not a ton in the last 5 years, but still 186 to date.
  8. Phew. That makes sense since they waived him for bigger reasons. LOL
  9. I get the Hanley claim, which just about signals the end of Hanifn here. Phillips, I'm not so sure about. MEP is yet to get a callup. Coronato getting pushed to the AHL for Phillips is odd. As it was we had Duehr and Hunt playing as the 11 & 12 F.
  10. Two different reports of waiver claims: One says Phillips, the opther says Hanley. Could be both. Yikes about the Phillips experiment.
  11. I was mistaken about scratching Holtz. Nemec was skating as an extra D. No way he's even being considered in a deal for Hanifin.
  12. Maybe, but this hot mess doesn't exactly inspire owners does it?
  13. Huska said he needs to learn to play within the rules better, but not contain his edge. Pospisil doesn't want to fight, but he better get ready if he plays over the edge too often. You can be on the edge without going over it. Costly lesson if he gets 5 games.
  14. Tommy boy has a small window to improve the team. If he doesn't make a play for a goalie now, he won't have a job this summer. Underselling a player in front of media is dumb. Sutter type thing to do. Worse for a GM. Almost sounds like he is making excuses for the coach or himself. Blame Holtz and a bunch of unnamed players. So, TF may make a huge "blow the doors off" offer to fix the goalie situation right now. I doubt it's Mercer, but maybe 1st + Holtz + Bahl. Add a conditional if they make the playoffs.
  15. He's one pending UFA that nobody seems to worry about. Good reason I think. The Flames did him right. Yeah, I know they had to but they were classy with him at least. And he has little trade value this year. At least now. Prior to Tanev trade, he was paired with Pachal. Whoops completely forgot about him. I think last night it was Oesterle-Pachal. Pachal is pretty decent IMHO. Not 2nd pairing yet, but could get there as a Tanev type D. I was wondering what the best would be, but was ignoring evaluating the top players.
  16. So, I assume you mean that Weegar-Ras should be the top unit? I was suggesting Kylington-Weegar because I see their styles meshing better, not that Weegar has to carry him. I think Ras has to show he can carry a player, or at least be paired with a guy that can cover his defensive lapses.
  17. The player scratch and these comments don't really suggest a trade, just that he is like a lot of players that aren't player a full ice game. Certainly isn't selling him to Flames fans. LOL
  18. Oesterle has mostly played with 7/8 guys and looked no better than them at times. He distributes and carries well enough, but gets lost or so it seems. We may have to pair him with Ras, since we don't have a lot of choices.
  19. I think he needs the right partner. With Hanifin gone, I'm not sure what you can do with the group. Don't really think Gilbert or Oesterle are the answer (especially after last night). The players in the AHL that maybe should get a longer look; Solo, Kuznetsov and Poirier. Poirier has played all of 4 games this season up to now, so I think you have to wait. The other two need to be paired with the right guy. I think that part of the return for either Markstrom or Hanifin should be a young D. More likely with a Markstrom trade. It may be crazy, but I might line up the current stock this way: Kylington-Weegar Solo-Andersson Poirier-Gilbert Kuznetsov My feelings about Oesterle is that he really only can play with better players. We don't have that luxury.
  20. I really hate how bozos like Frank S. have turned our team into the looky-loo team. Hey everyone, look over there. Owners killing the team. The goalie hates management. Hanifin only wants to go to a team that has few trade assets. Lindholm wants out. Tanev wouldn't sign. Bla bla bla. We used to be quiet about things. Now we seem to be selling clicks.
  21. I think if anything, the pressure is even more immense now. They have just barely enough time to make the playoffs. Trading for Markstrom solidifies their goalie situation for next season as well. If they managed to get in this season, then it's possible they have Markstrom and Dougie in the lineup. Even without him, they are better than today by a long ways. They might just throw in the towel, but that would PO the owners. Another lost year. Wonderful. The lure of a possible playoffs (revenue) vs the loss of a few players that aren't getting it done. You can only blame the players so much, if you have no goalie, but they played a part. Daws wasn't ready for a full season.
  22. If he ever had a chance to make it, here was the best chance I felt. He looked good in a couple shifts here and if we had managed to integrate him it might have been different. I think what bothered people the most was that he was the top scoring F in the league and never really got much of a shot. I am over this though. I cared about it last year when DS was making jokes about Pelletier.
  23. Well they seemed to be ok with buyouts and the Neal for Lucic trade. FS seems to be the only one saying the owners through Maloney nixed it. I'm sure all parties call FS when they are having trade talks. Because he's so trusted to report the truth or keep things quiet.
  24. I'm not in the room or at practice, so I can't comment on how the young guys play vs the vets, but it seems that if there is guy sitting out, it's the young call up. Duehr hasn't been that good this year, but Rooney has done what he was advertized to do. He kills penalties, he checks, he hits. He sometimes gets good chances. Hunt has taken the reins from Dube as the guy trusted by the coach.
  25. Wennberg not playing tonight for trade related reasons. Too bad we didn't do that. I guess the last home game before TDL we want to be nice. I don't get the risk taking myself. No trade may be imminent, but we only have 2 games before TDL.
