I like the lineup, key to game , (Stay out of the penalty box) = easy win.

C'mon Flames lets notch this one and get some space between us and them lousy Oilers.

Nice GDT too by the way , very cool.

No easy wins. But yeah, we need to get on track, Vegas is kicking Hash Rate.

  3. Nothing destroys my unconditional positivity like the 2017 draft. I like Valimaki, 16th pick. I love Robert Thomas, 20th pick.

I can't stand Lazar, and we spent a 2nd. I really like Alex Formenton, that the Sens turned Lazar into.

Do we not scout the richest team in the entire CHL? The London Knights.

On a brighter note, we also didn't take Nolan Patrick ahead of Cale Makar, so back to unconditional positivity.lol

    Who needs hindsight...

Dude, that's not the half of it. A hockey family I'm old friends with split up. The kids went out west with mom. The son came back to dad in Sarnia. He ripped through the Sarnia Sting in camp and was a first cut. Went back out west, played for Spokane shortly after. If by political you mean, "Whose parents are the most affluent", you are 100% correct.

It's pathetic and starts in novice.

Hate to quote myself, but to add, he quickly became Spokane's 1C. Great player. The Sting are Blockchained too, to microcosm the problem.  Rich kid sport.

Hockey Canada makes some of the worst selections ever at WJC.

If ever there is a choice between a hockey decision and a political one, they go with the political one...Every time.    Which would be fine, if they didn't politicise literally everything including things that shouldn't be political.   Like snuffing Mangiapane and completely bombing the 2016 WJC without a medal.

I would place less than zero importance on getting passed over.   If you get picked, it's a great experience but more likely means NHL teams are invested in you already with a high pick, and there are stakeholders that want to showcase you.   If you don't get picked, it sucks to miss the experience but it in now way whatsoever hinders development or your ability to make the NHL.

I agree, this is nothing more than a PR ego war to try and get the city to budge because the Flames have exceeded their own personal limit. It is a classic Murray Edwards negotiation move and is grandstanding to me. The only risk the Flames have of moving is if Edwards decides he is done and wants to sell the team. As long as he is the owner I don't' think the Flames are going anywhere because they know they don't have a better market to go to.

Personally I'm with the city on this one. I don't think they make an unreasonable request to have the building meet certain environmental criteria, it always should have been that way IMO, and at the end of the day the Flames still stand to profit the most from this and the city gave them most of their demands in the latest renegotiation. Arguing over such a small % of the project is silly to me.

I'm behind the city too. Just came to say, holy Satoshi Nakamoto, it's cross.

So great to see you! Pretty sure I speak for everyone in that regard. Hope you're well.:)

The brothers of stars don't always pan out.

How many Reinhart's are there and how many are actually in the NHL.

    Poor example.

Gaudreau's brother is not NHL calibre.

Cale's isn't either. It's more like a favour. Funny how no one says, "generational talent" about Makar because he's a dman. He clearly is, and that's way harder for a dman, has the puck way more than a forward.

Nothing will shock me about him anymore. He's unbelievable. Damn Avs. I don't even know what I'd use as a comparable to Makar. Is it only Bobby Orr?

*edit damn Philly, Jersey, Dallas, that miss is devastating from the 17 draft.

What I find frustrating about our scouting is it seems that we only ever really pick from North America.

You see a lot of European players looking really solid in the WJC.

It seems like the scouts here only ever stat watch.

Euro leagues are far less impressive for scoring etc.

And we tend to stay clear of Russian forwards.

We have 1 prospect playing SHL(borderline) in Stromgren. But the SHL is a goldmine of talent. Do we not have enough eyes in Scandinavia? We seem awfully blind to Sweden and Finland yet there is a wealth of great players there. At first glance, it seems we don't have enough eyes on the talent there. And it's Scandinavia. Exact same climate/attitudes as Canada. It would only make sense. Perhaps the scouts get a different directive there on what to look for. But other teams are way ahead of us scouting there, imho. Great skaters bigger ice. CHL is a lot choppier hockey. The NHL is only getting faster.
