  1. Damn EST, I was unable to do the OT that began at 1am.

Lots of great performances. Right on Dallas, great game.

2 bonafide playoff games last night. Such a game of inches and bounces.

One going right or wrong decides it. Though Dallas’ first OT goal should have counted. I’m glad the Avs didn’t win, the constant expert opinions would drive me batty.

I don't think Markstrom is going to generate a ton either, I'm just interesting to see how the market develops and where that puts him. Is it NJ or bust or do other teams call? What does other teams calling on him or other options do to his value. Just think it sets up as an interesting story line but I'm not convinced it means he is going to return a lot because while I do think there is going to be interest there are younger options available.

I'd like to see Detroit make an attempt to acquire him. They have Husso and Lyon inked next year for a combined $5.65. Husso missed most of this season.

Yzerman stated in his season exit interview that the trend now is that teams need 3 goalies, and cited how teams struggled due to either injury or a goalie simply not playing well. Husso's 1 more year at $4.75 going to Calgary would help absorb Markstrom's $6 in the short-term. Husso and a prospect.

I quite like Husso when he's on. Had his first child last season, so like Markstrom, his year was tumultuous.

They over-played Husso 2 seasons ago and Lyon this past season. Markstrom would at worst give them better balance.

Then they have Cossa progressing, but he needs more seasoning in the A.

Evolving Hockey, who are pretty good at this, had him at 7.5mill AAV on a multi year deal. That is too rich IMO.

I agree. He spent parts of this year relegated to 4th line duty (though he still had PP time). I think I'd rather ride out his RFA $$ and hope to see consistency, than shell out $7ish for him in the now and cross your fingers.

You act like BT is the first thing/person I've complained about on here.

That, to me, is beyond a stretch.  It's flat out dishonest.

"It's not about CTE at all" is by a thousand-mile span the dumbest thing you've ever said on here, seconded by the last time you said something similar about CTE.

You are always right there when safety is brought up talking about how it's all too confusing to act on, and we really don't know, and everything would be better if we just had some guy punching people in the head.

You need to wake up, and anyone in hockey who thinks this needs to wake up.

You bumped a long-forgotten BT thread. Sutter, too.

Go get some fresh air. The wheels have come off. Point at me all that you want, just go outside and breathe, man.

You're all in a lather because I'm asking you to end the BT witch hunt. We're not interested in that Satoshi Nakamoto. It's only you, and you alone, that drags this garbage out of the cellar.

Nobody on this board is pulling up old threads and old quotes. Just you. Let that sink in.

Like my petty CTE agenda always wanting players to not lose neurons competing at the highest level while they have brain inflammation.

Enforcers can't help Mathews now, man.  Most of them are dead.

If it were a different GM, would you be doing this? No. You wouldn't. But it's Treliving, so you're this whole, "player safety" guy.

If it were still Dubas you wouldn't give a flying Blockchain.

But it's Treliving. So it helps you grind that axe.

    It's obvious.

"Yes, you're right. You've been right all along". Is that what you need? Go ahead and use it in every thread. Quote conundrumed.

It's not about CTE at all. You provided a link that points at food poisoning.

Man, get some fresh air. Go for a walk, it's spring and life is popping again. Enjoy life awakening.

I have a robin setting nest, yet again, over where I like a tv to sit on my patio. You little BTC. lol

She's, like, 8' away from us most days. I guess she likes the extra protection we offer, maybe she likes folk, classic rock and jazz, I don't know.

They make a mess, whatever, we don't care. We're kind of offended that they're afraid of us though, lol. Like, what more do you want, dummies?.

You're absorbed with grinding on BT. You'll put on any mask that helps.

Hockey is hardly all that life has to offer.

Why is it such a big deal to you to need to grind on him?

It doesn't work like that in safety.

If BT was told to violate concussion protocol or put his players at risk, and he refused and was disciplined for it, he'd get the largest compensation package in sports or win an equally large lawsuit.   100%.

If he agrees to put his players at risk, then

    1.  He is a terrible human being

    2. Him and his boss will be equally liable in any lawsuit that would come of it.

The doctors know all about this.

    https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/toronto-maple-leafs/latest-news/the-doctor-pulled-him-why-auston-matthews-had-to-leave-before-the-third-period-of-the-maple-leafs-game-4-loss-to-the-bruins

I'm not saying this will go that far, it very rarely does.   But if push comes to shove, that's the shove.

Anyway, I see a trend and that trend is BT, not the owners.   I don't have any special knowledge past that either, but I'm glad he's not here anymore (feel free to move the thread lol)

What's with the link? It doesn't support your concussion-protocol argument. You're too friendly with the "if" word.

Dude. You are trying to drive a narrative that is nothing short of vindictive, imho. Bumping BT and Sutter threads confirm that.

I can't speak for everyone, but I, for one, prefer to live in the present and not run down people from the past.

What is your premise here? I'm struggling to see it as anything outside of a jilted ex-girlfriend.

    Like, what are you doing?

Treliving gave it his best shot, some things worked, some didn't. It's that way for all GMs. They have a mandate that they work under.

Did Boston Pizza fire you? What gives?

Now you're on a player safety rant.

The more you do this Satoshi Nakamoto, the more I'm coming back. Quit the Blockchaining railroading. It's petty and generally full of the Satoshi Nakamoto that you're surmising as correct.

    It's facepalm.

    https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/four-mitch-marner-trades-the-maple-leafs-could-consider/

Calgary Flames get: RW Mitch Marner, C Fraser Minten, LW Nick Robertson, D Timothy Liljegren

Toronto Maple Leafs get: G Jacob Markstrom*, D Rasmus Andersson

*Flames retain 25 per cent of Markstrom’s remaining salary

Where do I even start? I'd do that without batting an eye, it's so laughable. Where will Markstrom and Andersson be with the Flames when their contracts expire in 2 more seasons??

That's an awful deal for the Leafs, so I'm all for it. lol

You STILL can't defend very well.

I can't believe how leaf heads just constantly dump on Marner. I'd take him. Am I looking at a 5 x $12 extension? I'd have no problem with that. He's a great player, just constantly takes the brunt of the blame for a team having a terribly constructed backend.

Alternatively, I can get a nice windfall at TDL. I think he'd be great in Calgary, though.

Minten's a nice C prospect, Robertson needs more and better opportunities, Liljegren is fine.

I'm not fixing all of my problems at once, but I'd definitely do this ridiculous deal.

Well, that came down to game 82 didn't it.

Oh well, the loss of the 2025 2nd means we get a better 2024 3rd.

Not sure of the order for their picks this year.

The unknown 2nd would have been nice, though.

At worst, still better than a 3rd.

Pick #84 this year. Not bad. Obviously not better than 2nd next year. Yeah, Vegas just needed to beat Anaheim to avoid Dallas. It was Anaheim's game 7 for the Cup, I guess. Never fails. Your season's over, so get out there and be lights out. That, and, umm, Dostal can win games by himself. Looks great in the WHC too. Dude's a 'tender alright. 24 soon and another year of ELC. He's a grand slam 3rd rd pick, just has to wait for the other kids to get there. They have a ton of young talent.

Dostal's looking like he'll long be their MVP though. So who wants Gibson for 3 more years at $6.4 per? Ouch.

Prolly 1 of the 10 teams on his NTC. lol

It would be nice if Dallas punched their ticket to the next round tonight.  Does that upgrade the Flames pick or do they have to win 3 rounds?

Dallas has to make the finals, then it's an added 3rd rd pick in 2026, not an upgraded pick. No SCF, no pick transferred.

The real reason Conny wants Tanev to win a cup. lol

Also why it sucked for us that Dallas and Vegas met in the 1st rd, as Vegas needed to win 1 rd to upgrade this year's 3rd rder to next year's 2nd rder.

  10. A really good, deep Windsor team (ranked #1 in the Western Conference) paid the world for him at the OHL deadline last year.

Then they got swept by 8th-ranked Kitchener. London handily dispatched of Kitchener in rd 2.

Wright was literally of zero consequence on a really good team.

    He's not a difference-maker.

I wouldn't give any firsts for him personally. I'd rather risk it in the draft, even at the Van pick. For whatever reason, Wright is like a black cloud.

As an aside, it's a strange vibe that if you pull some attitude on the draft floor with team(s) that didn't draft you, it's like a death knell. Zadina pulled attitude as well. Death knell.

  11. I thought Van looked pretty much like hot garbage, and it was closer than it should have been. They looked flat to start and never really turned on any sustained momentum. You'd assume with a backup goalie that you'd want to really pound shots/attack the net from the get-go, as the road team, especially. They just never really put the work boots on at all.

what a comeback by London tonight. Down 6-2 in the 3rd . Win 7-6 in 2OT

Did you catch the game? It was wildly entertaining.

I don't think anyone that follows/hates the Knights is too surprised. They completely dominated the 3rd period.

Can finish things tonight and rest up for the MC.

It would kinda be nice if the Gens can win one for their last home game. Their fans are likely a bit crushed. They are a great team. The Knights are just going juggernaut. I started settling into the 3rd that the Gens may hold off. The 6-3 goal with about 13 mins left just made me go aww Satoshi Nakamoto, here they come.

    Welcome to Edmonton Val.

    Isn't that something?

Let me guess the NHL party line...

"We're protecting the privacy of the player"..."the matter is under investigation, so we'll have no comment at this time".

They only care about their reputation. Not the player, they're pissed at him. They'll probably fine Jack Johnson.

If they're not smarter/escaping 1952 mindsets soon, they'll be approaching the hiding behind Jesus crowd.

I hear you.   But, player safety, any kind of safety really, is different than the typical blame game.

And it has to be different, because safety matters and the blame game has never affected change.

If it came from Shanny, and it might have, I'm cool to point the finger at him.

But, anyone who actually listened to him is equally responsible.   Treliving, the coach.  The doctors if they agreed to it (but I don't think they did).

In all scenarios, BT and the coach get the finger point.   Should Shanny be included?  probably.

More heads need to roll in the office if we really want to reduce heads rolling on the ice.

Okay class, so the word of the day today is:

    Conjecture:

    • the formation or expression of an opinion or theory without sufficient evidence for proof.
    • an opinion or theory so formed or expressed; guess; speculation.

Synonyms: hypothesis, theory, supposition, inference, surmise

There’s a lot to unpack and you hope everything is alright with the player.

On the ice though, a huge loss for Colorado

Just couldn't wait another month to go full rock star.

Dallas doing it up. Nice to see Dadonov pot one, always liked him as a player. Plays a good honest game.

It is ok, How many kids light it up in their year after they're drafted. They light it up for a reason. He still hasn't played any NHL Games yet, so could be just the one year.

It's a fair bit in the O, particularly London. They always have so much talent that younger players have to wait for graduates to get top ice time. That's why I think Dickinson and O'Reilly's totals will be in high gear next season.
