Calgary Flames Drafting and Development: Your Analysis

I predict that JH will be traded to Philadelphia for RW Wayne Simmons and D Shayne Gostisbehere. Phily gets there boy and we get 2 players we could use and not have to pay an arm and a leg. Now before you guys try and shoot me I think we solve a few problems 1 is we need RW the other we need a player that wants to be here not some where else. -

I'm just hoping Talbots success doesn't flow over to the new season that's all we need is a Oiler team with a top 4 pick again and good goal tending. They still lack in the back end but perhaps they will trade a couple of there high first rounder's from seasons past just to get better in the back, hopefully not. There's a lot of talk between dutter and BT. There are 2 very different situations when dutter was in we were drafting high 25th and higher most yrs. We all know what you get usually in that high of a draft pool it is very hard to pick a great player in most cases. Which I think left Dutter in a bad position when it came to drafting and trading. On the other hand BT has higher picks to trade like 12th over all or 6th in this yrs draft that lends to better quality trade partners. As far as Hartley goes I liked how he treated the kids thought he was a great coach for them of course I never saw the inner working of the practices but saw how he talked about them and was very pleased with his demeanour. I will miss his attitude when talking about the kids and I think when they had good goal tending the game he had the team playing was very exciting that I will miss.

So no one thinks we should bring up some one like Nakladal ok maybe not his points in the A isn't anything to write home about but perhaps he can stop a few advances from the bad guys. seems like management are going to stick with what we have in the back end including goal perhaps no one wants what we have or they think they can weather the storm or maybe just maybe were going for first over all. The sad thing is before last yr I was all for it now they teased us gave us a possibility of greatness just to pull the rug out from under us perhaps it's time to look forward to the first over all unless Edmonchuck pays some one off again and gets first overall again. Im all for first as long as Bennett kills it in the scoring race LOL I know doesn't mean every thing but would like to see him show we made the right pick.

What a difference a few months make from a top d core as predicted from so called analysed to a bottom dwelling team because of poor defence and goal tending watching Hamilton right now is like watching a rookie that on most teams would have been sent down by now. The sad thing is Hartley isn't willing to bring up some help we have a KHL top d man sitting down in the AHL I know Hamilton isn't the only problem right now but he isn't the player we traded three top prospects for hopefully he can pull out and make a difference but not happening to this point and we need help desperately lets see what some other players in the A can do what do we have to lose another Game LOL . lets try something different the shots on goal are there the protection of the back end isn't.

Does any one really think Kanzig will ever see the NHL ? If we don't trade him chances are he will end up in the ECHL and probably not resign him. Or bringing him back to Calgary is to help him with the coaches here as much as they can like the defensive coaching staff of the flames not the Hitmen of course the Hitmen staff will for sure. I just don't see a future for him here or in the NHL hope I'm wrong -
Ok I've said it before time to give Gillies a shot what do we have to lose we are capable of bringing him up with out losing him to waivers if we have to shot him back down. At this point perhaps he can do what Ortio did last yr bring the team back from the dead

Well it looks like Ramo cleared waivers no one wants his contract can't blame them he isn't playing NHL calibre hockey. Hope he hones his skills in AHL or we are going to be paying out over 3 mil for an AHL player that sucks. Tell me does it still count towards our Cap ?

It doesn't look like our passion rate went up at all I know this is just the first of many but even Birch was out playing our boys at the end of the game. Sad excuse for a game on the Flames side but on a good note we got beat last yr by the nucks and look how it ended. I guess back to the drawing board. I don't think you can Blame goal tending I put it our defensive side of the game our D shouldn't be playing forward when they can't play defence .

So 1 of the riches management groups in Canada that seems to own every sports meca in Calgary wants the City to produce 200 million out of tax payers pockets Really. I'm sorry but come on the city already helped upgrade the dome not to long ago when dutter was god then through in more money to repair after flood now a few yrs later they want to build something bigger at our expense OUCH

I would think if Rams signs it would have a caveat of some sort meaning he would make it clear that if he signs here he would have a no movement for a year or something like that. I f it was me I sure wouldn't sign just to be traded.

I'm scared when it comes to Draft day the only good Pick he did was Bennett a no brainer the rest well Im not a draft king type of person so will wait and see but the 2 second round picks didn't make me feel warm all over more of a chill down my back side. I have tried to follow the Gens but they don't have much to say about Smith there Goalie and Vancouvers pick are the front of web page. he has good points I think but I hope he is a power forward with defensive qualities Mason got hurt at end but seemed to carry his team. I know when it comes to pick it is a crap shoot for the most part but after the rdiculas pick feaster did for first over all I am worried BT will do something silly like that. You just never know

Bouma has done real well this yr but what happens when we sign him next yr to a 2-3 yr deal @ 3 something and he does a Jokinen plays great his contract yr gets his pound of flesh and goes back to sleep till his next contract yr. Not saying that will happen but all of a sudden BT is on the hook for a bad signing it is a touchy road to travel Richards did the same thing for LA and that hurts.

Does any 1 think that Gillies didn't play to his abilities today or just bad bounces and bad defence in front of him. It seemed to me he really wasn't a game breaker in most games although the coaches must have thought he was the better of the two goalies they had. I know he had to deal with 2 5 on 3's but he really didn't play his best game. I guess you can't win them all

We lost this trade big time I watch some games with Brossoit once I learned we had him in the system I believe he was going to be a big part of our future and was going to be a first star most night with the flames trading him is going to bit use in the u know what. Peaple seem to think he was good only because of who he had in front of him but alot of nights he would stop 35-40 shots and they were tuff ones to stop as well Oiler Management are laughing there faces off at us and who ever desided this was good for the flames should be fired. This was a mistake and we will be hanging over Calgary for yrs to come another st louis trade. And of course just my opinion.
