5th Round pick.

He sure has that goal celebration well developed.

But good size.  6'-4" 192 lbs... Maybe grow a bit and bulk up further.  Decent skater for his size from what I can tell.

Based on stats, he was the second highest scorer on his team... A young team that was second worst in the WHL this season.  He will basically be their best player going into next season so that's going to be very exciting to watch.  Lots of potential to shine.  Good value pick for a 5th rounder.

Can never have too many LHS LW's.  LOL

Was that the sound of JJ's head exploding?

BT was saying that those that needed a QO have received them.

He wasn't clear if every player had received them though.

My guess is that Tuulola, Kinnvall, Poolman and Parsons didn’t get QO.

Tuulola and Phillips both eligible for arbitration, as are Pooly nd Kinnvall.

Not that they would get anything great.

I think ET actually is starting to up his game...finally.

Since Kinnvall signed in Europe, they might extend an offer to keep his rights.

Not sure how that part works.

Poolman didn't do much.

Parsons would not surprise me if they let him walk.

As I said though, they didn't really say "all" were qualified.

Was very careful in how he put it.

Tuulola will be playing Finland next year as well.

Oh, I was thinking it was drunk uncle on the coach.

Probably his dad.

Last one to hug, maybe not a big hugger.  LOL

Guessing the last is his mom. Mom always gets the biggest and longest hug.

Best line I heard was, Leafs finally escaped the first round, too bad it was at the draft.

"All those that need to be QOed have been QOed."

Agreed, very diplomatic way to put it.

That sounds like a coy way of saying everyone was.

But he also didn't want to make any announcement at the draft.

So that implies an inpersonal announcement from the Flames

I hate trying to parse what people mean when they say something.

I'm a gonna sit back and wait for BT to make any real statement about the few that are key.

They didn’t have picks so not like my expectations were high but this is a disappointing looking draft from the Flames. I don’t think they got good value with any of their picks.
Could be wrong and their amateur side does have a good track record but I’m not really excited about anyone they took. A disappointing draft

It's kind of exciting to think how completely different our team may look, or not much different at all.

There are options on the table 6 ways from Sunday.

We can get way too caught up in JG/Tkachuk.

At the end of the day, though significant, it's not end of the world doom and gloom. If JG needs $10+ over 8 I'd seriously consider the repercussions of that personally.

There are always a lot more ways to skin a cat, as they say.

My expectations were met. They were extremely low, so they were met.

and to clarify my expectations were too and I really don’t want to make it seem like this is an issue. I do think they deserve the benefit of the doubt.

I just don’t like the profile they went after. Hardly the end of the world though.

And if they're playing it safe, why not take McConnell-Barker? I don't understand. Did they not scout him?

He's been through great programs and is about as sound as a safe C pick as you can get. Went 97oa to NYR.

McKenzie's compendium of scouts had him at 58oa. Because they actually seem to know what they're doing sometimes.

Admittedly underwhelming..but I think we may have found some good value here .. the entire draft was pretty Meh as advertised ..

But Ronni has some size and skill.. could be a Philip Danault type .. has the size and skating already to his credit .. another year in Finland we can bring him over and see how he fits into the NA game ..

Littler is Raw..but heading to college he can shore up his game ..been a good player on a bad team thus far..but again he can score..has some size and skating ability

Size and skating seems to be the theme of our picks this year.. were stocked with smaller skill players ..they're gonna need those mid to bottom 6 players to complement that..

Again , nobody blows me away ..but I'm not seeing misses.. I could see all 3 getting NHL time eventually
