cross16 Posted December 2, 2019 Report Share Posted December 2, 2019 Teams starting to be named. For the Flames: Jakob Pelletier was named today to Team Canada's Selection Camp. He's expected to make the team. Cool thing here is he's eligible next year as well. Dustin Wolf should be on the roster. Not likely to play a role as Spencer Knight is the guy for Team USA right now. Dimitry Zavgorodniy would have very likely made Team Russia but an injury will take him out of the tournament. Demetrios Koumontzis did attend the US summer camp but was a cut. So on the radar, but would be a surprise if he was on the team. Ilya Nikolaev also could sneak his way in there for Russia. He's having a solid season in Russia's Junior league but Russia is deep and tends to take veteran teams. The rest of the Flames prospect who would be eligible but would be unlikely adds: Lucas Feuk - Sweden Josh Nodler - USA (good potential for next year) Emillo Petterson was eligible to play for Norway in the D1 Championships but has chosen to stay in the NCAA and not participate. Pelletier, Wolf, Nikolaev, Feuk and Nodler are eligible next year as well. Zav and Koumontzis, this is their last chance. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The guys they had ahead of Pelletier on LW was typical of TSN beliefs. Must be able to play all 3 forward spots. Must have a name that resonates with the public or is fun to say - Connor McMichael (actually he's killing it this year). Must be 6' tall or more. It's a shame that both Zav and Pelletier were injured before the final teams were named. They would have been explosive for either team. Maybe they give him a start or two to get the feel of the tournament so he has experience from this year to take with him next year. i think it’s a good sign for next year. IIRC, 930, 931, 930 over his career. I was just saying that when I was looking earlier in the season he was like 913. It's really hard to tell with the college kids. They play once or twice a week and practice the rest of the time. The CHL plays closer to a NHL schedule. Demko looked good at BC, but you can't even say he is a bonafide backup at this piont. Knight has 1st round status, so you never know. Right now, I would say that Wolf is playing against superior talent. I am curious to see who gets the meaningful games in the WJC.
