Finding a true backup is paramount for them if they plan to keep playing Talbot like a workhorse. They're actually quite reasonably priced at the D position aside from Sekeras overpayment, but it looks like they have a pretty decent group of young D men on the rise. I agree with those pegging Leon to come in just under $7 mill, McDavids extension will be one to watch. They might be able to surprise us and keep his cap just under $10 mill, Chia would be smart to extend him before the regular season ends...if he puts up back to back 100 pts seasons then he's over $10mill and closer to the 20% max he can be offered without question. If if they'll be able to accommodate Nurse,Kassian, Maroon and PoolParty remains to be seen and like many have pointed out, resigning/replacing Russell won't come cheap. You also have guys like Letestu playing above their weight so if that continues they'll have little choice but to trade some assets. RNH and Ebs are just too expensive to trade without taking a loss. RNH might fetch u a decent D man in return but Ebs really wont get u much. As much as cap space will be an issue for the Oilers...it's already a bit of an issue for the Flames. Atleast the Oil have a true #1 goalie on their roster so I'll give them that. BT will be on full display this off season to get the best bang for the few dollars he has at his disposal considering the needs to be filled.
