Adirondack Flames 4 (29-22-4-1) @ Toronto Marlies 1 (26-22-9-0)

1. ADK Arnold, (10) (Acolatse, Kulak), 7:44 (PP)

1. TOR McKegg, (14) (Brown, Nylander), 17:53

2. ADK Cundari, (7) (Agostino, Arnold), 6:24

2. ADK Granlund, (7) (Wotherspoon), 8:33

3. ADK Elson, (14) (Hathaway, Granlund), 19:41 (EN/PP)

Boxscore          Marlies Highlights - March 7, 2015 - Marlies TV [YouTube]

A must-win win to beat back the threat by the Marlies from below.

Bill Arnold gives the Flames some much needed offensive punch (1G/1A) in his 2nd game back after a long layoff.

Markus Granlund the other offensive standout also with a goal & an assist.

David Wolf lives up to the Big Bad rep with 19 mins in penalties. Doug Carr with his 1st win for Adirondack this season.

Next up on Tuesday in Glens Falls is the Hamilton Bulldogs. A few consecutive wins will likely put us into playoff spot.

We better get that self-financed Saddledome replacement built before this starts happening in Calgary.

On an idle day for the entire AHL, here are the cut-off projections for the AHL.

A win tomorrow night will vault the Flames into 7th in the West.

I also included the Eastern Conference since I compile it but never post it. (if anybody cares ;))

A victory is crucial tonight against the Hamilton Bulldogs as it will immediately put us into 7th in the West.

What I see is now is essentially a 6 team race for the last 2 playoff spots barring an massive choke from a team above this pack or exceptional finish from a few below it. Winning our games in hand will keep us well in front of these teams.

Go Flames Go

I finally see the Flames/AHL have retroactively posted the NHL trade deadline paper transactions.

Despite management stating they occurred, no confirmation was evident on the AHL transaction list for days.

I was worried someone made a massive blunder with Poirier & Ferland definitely gone for the year.

The fortunes of the Calgary Flames will determine if & when they play again for Adirondack.

Hamilton Bulldogs 2 (29-23-9-0) @ Adirondack Flames 1 (29-22-5-1) [OT]

2. HAM Hudon, (14) (Andrighetto), 3:46

3. ADK Arnold, (11) (Agostino), 13:16

OT. HAM Tangradi, (10) (Andrighetto, Pateryn), 4:47

Ryan Huska, 3/10 - Adirondack Flames TV [YouTube]
David Wolf, 3/10 - Adirondack Flames TV [YouTube]

Bill Arnold's clutch goal in the 3rd helps send it to OT.

Our old friend, Joey MacDonald, bars the gate for 39/40 shots and Hamilton escapes with the victory.

Despite losing in OT, the "loser pt" moves Adirondack into the 8th playoff spot.

Hamilton remains 3 pts up on the Flames but we have "4" games in hand.

As long as we don't waste them the Bulldogs will be under our heel in the near future.

A huge weekend coming up where we use some of our accumulated games in hand.

3 games in 3 nights with our foes being Syracuse Crunch, Toronto Marlies, and the Binghamton Senators.

We will have a lot clearer picture of the playoff race after the weekend.

The Flames take a couple days off & get bumped from 8th to 10th.

A 3 games in 3 days weekend gives Adirondack the opportunity to easily reverse this trend.

Tonight's foe, Syracuse Crunch, were victims of a 10-0 thrashing by the Flames earlier this season.

A simple victory is all we need this time.

Let it be so! Go Flames Go

The Flames lose 2 of 3 this weekend but escape with 4 of 6 possible points to keep them in the Western wild card race.

A dramatic comeback ala Calgary in the 3rd pushed the game to OT but the Flames fell short.

Garnet Hathaway (3G/1A), Brent Kulak (1G/2A),  Max Reinhart (3A), David Wolf (2G), and Sena Acolatse (2A) the offensive standouts. Both Doug Carr & Brad Thiessen withstood the offensive onslaught with 4 GA each.

Next game on Wednesday when Adirondack visits the Rockford Icehogs.

Anyone hear about this signing with the baby Flames?

Oleg Yevenko

U-Mass-Amherst

6'7" 250 lbs.

Never heard anything about it before you mentioned it, but here's a few links for him:

Sounds like a fairly decent pick-up to me, just based on what I've read in these articles.

He signed an ATO with Addy.  I was expecting to see Morrison do that. Maybe there is some delay in getting to Addy for him (Visa or such).

Wow, he's a monster. The scouting staff is sure earning their pay cheques as of late.

The only knock with Yevenko is his foot speed. But it goes on to say that he uses his reach and size advantage to offset this. He's what we need in the system right now. A big, stay at home, punishing d-man.

The thing that kinda trips off warning/caution flags is that he's been in the NJD, NYI and BOS tryout camps in past 3 years, without sticking around.  I'll happily give the kid a chance on his own merits, but 3 different camps without cracking the AHL roster...just doesn't bolster my confidence.

Those would have been development camps as he was in college, not training camps. He couldn't sign till he was ready to leave college.

Morrison has school commitments that BT insisted he deal with before going to Addy. I think he will be joining the team later this week.

I get your point, but I'd like to think that maybe he wanted to finish his schooling or there just wasn't the opportunity to make those clubs due to depth. Calgary is quickly becoming a place where players want to play because of atmosphere and opportunity.

I'm not saying he's the next great gem the Flames have managed to pluck outside of the draft, but its comforting to know BT is sticking to the plan and is actively searching for d-men. Our defensive cupboards were pretty bare before this and the Morrison signings.

Absolutely, just like we've never seen Gillies, Jankowski and etc at a Flames camp to date.  Hopefully they'll sign after their season.

Morrison and Brett Cameron have been added with ATO's to the baby Flames.  I suspect you wll see a RHS come up on the Flames last recall (Arnold or Poirier?).  But it doesn't seem likely that a rookie would be brought into the CGY playoff push, beyond what we already have.

Adirondack woke up this morning in the 8th playoff spot in the Western Conference.

A Toronto Marlie win over the Oklahoma City Barons this afternoon bumped them down into  9th.

Even more of a must-win now against the Bulldogs as a loss tonight will move them into 10th.
