JTech780
So... You're not going to count the games where the #1 goalie was gone (Ortio) or Granlund for that matter. If you're going to remove 3-5 of the BEST players on the team, the team is going to suffer. Ortio was called up because Ramo was injured, and he got into plenty of games, so his recall was plenty justified. Granlund has played plenty in his recalls as well. You said that if Adirondack misses the playoffs it was because Calgary made unnecessary recalls and sat them on the bench, that is flat out untrue. Granlund has played plenty in his recalls as well. You said that if Adirondack misses the playoffs it was because Calgary made unnecessary recalls and sat them on the bench, that is flat out untrue. Matter of opinion, Ortio was up longer then was needed. The Flames have recalled countless prospects and sat them in favor of Bollig, Diaz, Seto, ect ect. And if you're going to play them do it for longer then 10 minutes. Addy's top guns have been recalled repeatedly, and not utilized the way they should be. You can't argue that. Top players missing from team = less wins = less points = out of playoffs All I have to say is I'm thankful Ferland has seemed to recover from the concussion he got when he was recalled, then injured within the first game. Yes, they should have been able to predict the future to see he was destined to have an off night in Anaheim. They should have sent him down after winning 4 straight, 3 of which against teams we're fighting with. Its a bad message why ride the hot hand at the NHL level when we can be a mediocre team at the AHL level, we need Calder Cup playoffs to hell with going for the Stanley Cup playoffs. I know its easy to look at what happened in January and blame the organization for mishandling things, but the 1-5-1 start didn't help. And of course 9 losses to Utica, can't blame not having Ortio for those as 7 of them were his.

I get the idea of wanting to keep top players with Adirondack, but the big club comes first and with a lengthy 13 day road trip starting today, they need healthy bodies. That's where organizational depth becomes important. Every AHL team goes through the same things where their best players get recalled to play in the NHL, the teams with the best depth survive losing top players. Adirondack is a very young team, they just don't have the veteran depth to handle losing top players as much as other teams.

I guess I am a Calgary Flames fan first & foremost but it's also hard as a ADK fan to see quality players called up. There is good reason why they have "Farm Teams". They are there to supply the depth needed on a daily monthly or seasonally time frame. Yes it is a shame that they are also a playoff race there too, but.....
