Also, the Oil Kings game will be on SHAW tonight (6:00 I believe). The WHL site says channel 299 but I am not sure if that applies to the Calgary market or not. Reminded me of Pekka Rinne, somewhat: not quite as big (only 6'3") but looks similar, very good technically, and always square to the puck. Moves very efficiently, and as a result, makes it look easy. Controls rebounds like he has marshmallow pads. Even though he wasn't real busy, he looked very solid and very intimidating. Sven Baertschi and Tyler Wotherspoon, are having a slow series against the Tri-City Americans, Sven hasnt been his usual self getting the points he has in the previous series, but his team has been able to pick up a little slack as the series is 3-0 for the Portland Winterhawks If everything goes right in the next couple days, we will have a prospect winning the Ed Chynoweth Cup, Ive always been cheering for Sven, But with Laurent Brossoit dominating in the net for the first 3 series for edmonton, it's hard to choose who to cheer for. I know what you mean. I am kind of hoping Brossoit gets to the Memorial Cup because I want him to get the recognition so that he has a good shot at the WJC next year. As per all prospects, a larger sample size will tell us a better story. If we continues at this pace next season, I think we'll have a good prospect. I think it's still too early to start projecting him though it's his first real season as a starter and he needs to continue to build but is he a legtimate prospect absolutely. definitely too early, but it is encouraging to see such a significant improvement in his numbers. for those too lazy to look up his stats, in 34 games last year Laurent had a 3.32gaa and .887sv% this season (reg season & playoffs combined) he has a 2.31gaa and .920sv% in 74 games i think nearly doubling his work load and his numbers still improving so much says alot about his physical and mental conditioning Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Reinhart: 3 Games - 0 Goals - 2 Assists - 2 Points - 6 PIM - Even +/- (Eliminated 1st Round) OIL KINGS TAKE GAME ONE OF CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – The Edmonton Oil Kings edged the visiting Portland Winterhawks 3-2 in Game 1 of the 2012 WHL Championship series on Thursday night in Edmonton, AB. Jordan Peddle’s shorthanded marker 14:30 into the second period gave the Oil Kings a 3-0 lead and proved to be the game-winner. Rhett Rachinski had a goal and an assist and Martin Gernat also scored for the Oil Kings, who went 0-for-5 on the power play but scored the shorthanded marker. Marcel Noebels and Sven Baertschi scored less than two minutes apart shortly after Peddle’s goal to make it 3-2 before the end of the second period. But, that’s as close as the Winterhawks would get in the Game 1 loss. Laurent Brossoit made 24 saves on 26 shots to record his 13th victory of the playoffs for the Oil Kings. Mac Carruth turned aside 26 shots in a losing cause for the Hawks. The Oil Kings will host the Winterhawks for Game 2 of the 2012 WHL Championship series on Friday, May 4th in Edmonton. Brendan Leipsic scored 2:57 into the first period and again 9:20 into the second period to put the Winterhawks up 2-0 en route to evening up the best-of-seven set at 1-1. Sven Bartschi also scored twice and Taylor Peters got his first of the playoffs as the Hawks posted their sixth road win of the playoffs. Kristians Pelss scored the only goal for the Oil Kings, who outshot the visiting Winterhawks 39-27 in the contest as they suffer their first loss on home ice in the post-season. Mac Carruth turned in a 38-save effort for the Winterhawks to post his 31st career playoff win. Laurent Brossoit made 22 saves in a losing cause for the Oil Kings.
