  1. That should have been called back
  2. Blond behind the bench has big honkers. I mean that she was seen driving a pick up truck.
  3. I think Catton is going before we get to the podium.
  4. That would be my hope. BT always wanted the big name and sacrificed term to get them. We have the cap to do a few higher dollar ones that help the team and could be flipped. Sometimes that is what a players wants.
  5. That may work, but what does Wolf think? He was #3 last year. He only got games when the other NHL goalies were injured. I would prefer that the goalies work out who gets the starts and not leave it to a coach maybe feeling the pressure to bring in the 3 guy. By all means, sign someone to be the AHL goalie that is capable of NHL starts. I'm wondering if the rookie guy there has something to say about that. Ignatjew had a decent season in the #2 league in Sweden.
  6. I think Wolf has risen to every bar he has faced. He will battle to get where he needs.
  7. I was having a heck of a time trying to ling the tweet. I gave up and clicked on the image and just linked the image. It was Connie yelling, BTW, not me.
  8. I probably overvalue Ras, but I think a top 2 RHS D should be worth the #4. He's no Nurse. But I really don't think the #4 would be available for just that or even including Pops.
  9. Regarding Kylington: Connie said this to TSN dude covering the Flames:
  10. What is the difference? Two guys mentioned from other teams are over 30. Ras is like 27. We have two years of him at the reduced price. If he's going to want out, he shuts his mouth and performs. The return should be incredible. If we are moving on from him, a 30 year old isn't the best idea for a replacement. Anyway, I have no idea what we will look like by October. I'm not keen on signing long term deals for 30+ year old D. Or F for that matter.
  11. Of that list I would be interested in: - Liljegren - we chose Valimaki over him and I think he is a good young guy that has some tools - Connor McMichael - would be fun to have the play by play guys doing BOA games to hear that, plus I think he's stuck in that lineup - Kent Johnson - C, what is there to talk about _ Marchenko - bigger RW - Kalyiev - I would do a miinor trade for him, seeing that LA may just want to walk away
  12. That is true, even a TDL deal would be protected. So with the current deal, we are getting either a 2025 11-32 overall or a 2026 1-32 overall. I think they will have a good team this year, so it will be a 2025 pick.
  13. At TDL, the 1st was likely on the table, but NJ soured the deal by not pumping up Holtz (if that was part). It doesn't sound to me like we really wanted Holtz. Maybe ownership killed it or we couldn't get anything else for the salary retention. No idea. So, in some ways the 10th was on the table but it wouldn't have been a 10th if the TDL deal had happened. I know you are talking about the 10th today, not an unknown pick at TDL. Just putting some perspective around the current deal.
  14. I take a different view than the bolded. Our timeline for needing a goalie at the end of a good career is not now. He would have helped a team like EDM in the early part of the season, or Toronto in the playoffs. Or NJ getting there. Win now teams. Door open for a couple years. Had we traded him at TDL, I don't think we would be much different in final ranking. We went 7-13-0 after TDL with Markstrom. NJ would have included a goalie. Would the combo of Vladar, Wolf and said goalie have gotten us a better 1st round draft order? Anyway that is just speculation. I don't see the need to have JM through the next 2 years. At best he would only protect us from the top 10 in drafting. This is the best year for us to drop to bottom 10 teams in the league, as it means we just give them FLA's pick. We end up 11th and we lose the 11th overall pick.
  15. Okay, cool. I am for sure less interested in a LHS LW than others in that range. I want Demidov as the first available C/RW. But I am not deluded. Unless the Russian factor scares of 7 other teams, he ain't falling.
  16. I would be okay in signing such guys to short term deals and flipping them at TDL. I doubt the better of the bunch want short term deals. Unless you know you are trading Ras or Weegard, we shouldn't be signing anyone long term and big bucks. Andersson wanting out is speculation, as he is more the core than he used to be.
  17. I would love to change my first CGY pick to Demidov, but I doubt teams pass over him.
  18. Would we be waiting for Johnny Hockey's kid to start playing? JH was set to beat Iggy in a lot of franchise records, if only he had signed. There are for sure cases when the kid turns out to be better than the dad. But I think a lot of that is due to the kid playing in an easier league. You don't have head hunter D men near as much. A small player can actually score 40 goals. Anyway, I am just not as hung up on the player as a lot of fans. If some of the players ranked top 6 drop to us, I would seriously be looking at them. Iggy seems like the safe pick, and yes I know he's really good. But these are juniors. He is not his father.
  19. And according to the GM, we were trying to get 3rd so we could get Tkachuk. It seems odd that we didn't try to trade with VAN if we wanted Tkachuk. We knew EDM was running to get Pooly. If we didn't know the name, there would be zero pressure to draft Iggy Jr. We never drafted the original. I think the fan expectations would be through the roof and he would have a tough time. This fanbase is like Toronto at times; we pick a player to weard the goat horns. I am quite happy to draft a guy nobody really knows. Hage has quite the story; tough breaks to the kid at a young age. SOunds like a great kid to draft at 28, LOL. Only way he makes it to the Flames is we trade up to get 21 or 10 of the first 15 players are well above their rankings. I could see 5, but not 10. Then again, what do the scouts know. LOL
  20. I don't get the Kylington hate. The guy was off the ice for two seasons and came back looking like he had skated the entire time. I did find his balance a little off, but that's normal. Had no training camp. little actual practice with this team, and still played as a capable 5/6, if not that being just used to partner. I think the Flames are just in the mode of pricing out the D. Hanley was okay. Pachal was good. But they are 6/7 on good teams. They are cheap, but we probably want one of them to be a 7 and the other in the AHL. So that means a 4/5 so that we can align the pairs the best, assuming we sign Kylington. He's due a minor raise but we lost most of two years at current salary. He probably wants stability of a longer term salary but the Flames are nervous about it. You don't want to build out your D a certain way and lose the player to NHL PA again. 2 years may be all they are willing to do right now.
  21. We were a Kadri pair away from one loss to ARI. We were a Kuzmenko hatty away from one loss to ANA. That would be 6th. And a pair from Kadri and Kuz from a loss to SJS. That gets us 5th. If we were drafting 5th, I wouldn't even want to hear Iggy's name. He would get taken 4th, but if he didn't then MTL could have had him at 6. Revisionist history. Like the year we drafted Tkachuk, we missed out on 2 and 3 because of wins or losses. The ild days of three lotto picks.
  22. I don't disagree with your sentiments, however I would say you don't need the champion vets yet. By the time we need them, they will be readily available. And then we bring them on to win in the playoffs. Coleman and Kadri both know what it takes once you get there, but the D isn't hardened yet. And it's fine to instill that do what it takes ideas in the regular season, but we won't have what it takes for a bit of time. Why I am positioning it this way is that right now, to add the vets you mean, it would require 3-5 year deals and they would be needed in year 3-5. And the cost for those winners right now will be high. Pesce is already about to get paid and he is 29 and a RHS D. We have two of those. Skjei is coming off $5.4M and will get paid long term. Brodie is more my speed. He's 34 but has about 2 good years left. Toronto pegged him as the problem for their D, yet he was + 17 during the season. He's capable at LD or RD, so he could fill in. And he won't be making the $7.5M he got as the final year. 2 years @ $3M would probably do it. Or close. I wouldn't go beyond that for the D. For the F, we could look at Duclair if we could get him for 2 years. It's more expensive that way, but you aren't stuck long term. Arvidsson has been cheap but productive. Less than 5M and pots 20+ goals every season. That allows us to move Mangiapane. Plays either wing so could be a fit with Kadri or Huberdeau (or both). I would like to bring in another goalie to the AHL level this summer so we have some options. Vladar is coming off surgery and we can't expose Wolf to 40 games yet. We probably lose Dansk and the only guy we have is somebody named Ignatjew, who has not played in NA.
  23. Mange won't be here in 2025, so no idea why you are lining them up. He probably gets traded this summer or TDL at the latest. if this summer, then we are bringing in a winger. If you want to build a line with Kadri, who is here long term, put him with a finisher like Kuz. It's been forever since we had a guy that could fill the net. He's wiry. Say it with me, wiry. It's fun.
  24. Dubois was the guy that CBJ wanted over Poolparty and Tkachuk. I guess they never talked to him. I guess this trade was the response to CGY trading to NJ. Good thing we didn't bite on PLD being the return. I'm a little miffed that we didn't ask about Ty Dellandrea. Wasn't exactly lighting it up, but Dallas game is weird. Nichushkin never did much there either.
