  1. Reminds me of the Flames. I guess that you could say that he didn't even get a shot on nets. Or that Bob guarded the net and only the post was available. LOL
  2. Let the Cory (Katie) Perry curse continue.
  3. So, the secret for an Alberta team to make the Cup finals includes a decade of darkness, plus drafting top 10 in 10 of 15 most recent years. We have 3 in the last 15, and the most recent was Tkachuk. Long ways to go.
  4. Well they planned the parade and will have it regardless. The only thing is whether it has the cup and is the Oilers having it, or it's being brought to Alberta by a ex-Alberta native.
  5. You do a better job of explaining it that even Capfriendly does. I think the only thing missing is that we may not get the Panther's 2025 pick. It's lotto protected and would slide to 2026. I know he didn't ask, but it plays into it.
  6. Okay, so we are no obligated to honor his NTC after the trade. Vegas is in a weird spot with the Lehner LTIR situation. They could take advantage by holding off to sign a UFA like Marshmallow. I might make a counter offer that gives then a bit more flexibility for a bit longer. Andersson + prospect (Kuznetsov) for Theodore. We balance out the D a bit more with LHS and RHS.
  7. I think you alluded to it, but they probably have their sites on a few D. Not all the so-called top 10 D that some predict. If it comes down to the Flames 3rd choice of 3 D available and the C's that they have, it comes down to BPA. That's IMHO. I think they do have a couple of OMG picks where they run up to the stage to call the name.
  8. To your point, when it's an Oiler game on SN, I turn the volume off. I watched US feed of the game where Draisaitl hit Barkov, and the rules guys suggested it was a major. My only complaint was that the feed was 30 seconds delayed. The only thing worse than losing game 7 after being up 3-0 would be losing game 7 after forcing a game 7 with 3 spectacular wins.
  9. The only feel good story I care about is we get the absolute best player in the draft. We are not getting Celebrini, so we need the 2nd best. Be it at C or at D. I suppose a LW is something too, but how many times have we had that stud LW and nothing to play them with. Our last two top LW's ended up playing on the same line with a lesser C. Neither Monahan nor Lindholm ever matched the level of the wings. They were complementary. We need that C who is top 3 capable in the NHL. And who can score. If Hanifin is your standard minimum, we likely already have some candidates; Bryz, Morin and Poirier. That's without even talking about Miromanov, who, out of the gate put up 7 in 20. I know he has a long way to go and is already a bit older. Same with Kylington, who skates better than either of them. This year we may bottom out and end up in the bottom 10 again. It's expected and it's not meant to have a feel good story because of a name. Draft some players that turn heads for what they do in D+1.
  10. I would be calling about him just because of the name. Really the description of him sounds interesting. Bull. Cutbacks. He's from Nebraska, a state full of farms. Hmmm, sounds familiar. I wasn't sure, but is he dual citizenship?
  11. I think Mangiapane is gone sooner than later. Ideally they make a deal early so they can audition players in the top 6 to replace him. I don't see the value of him continuing to play with Backlund. Haven't seen him raise his game anywhere else. To me, the return doesn't matter that much. A shame we didn't trade him after the 35 goal season. But if we could trade him to a team lacking wingers, maybe we get a prospect or mid pick for him. Put some conditions to improve the pick, like 25 goals or team wins a playoff round.
  12. They could have taken the crowd out of the game with a single goal. It might have even rattled the Oilers. Three goals on 3 odd man rushes. The first was the D falling when behind the goal scorer. The 2nd was a sleeper and a blind icing pass that left a guy alone. The third was trying to put the puck on net instead of a simple puck to the corner. A simple blown goal on an offside made the 3rd goal inevitable. 2 goals was possible to come back from. But really, the need to score first.
  13. Behind paywall by the looks of it. Any sage advice?
  14. This sets up a very interesting game 7. History is on FLA's side 204-4 (something like that 204 number) where a team has lead a series 3-0 and won/lost. Momentum is on the Oilers side. All of a sudden the Oilers are the team that is expected to win. It's gonna be a heartbreaker for one of these two teams. One result has the world returning to normal. One has the world upside down.
  15. Need a goal with at least 4 mins left or this game is 100% toast.
  16. They need Nurse to step up, LOL.
  17. 4v4 favors the Oilers no doubt. How did Tkachuk get a penalty? I missed what he did, or is this just getting two guys off the ice.
  18. Well it was a good pushback. The Panthers are not guarding against the F that has blown the zone. In the old days that would have been a 2 line offside. But we got rid of that one ages ago.
  19. Oilers looking for the offsode. Think they will get one
  20. Yeah, they haven't really changed the game from the first three that they won. Same plays and the Oilers have adjusted to it. It might be my imagination, but I think the Oilers are getting away with a lot more questionable hits and holds. Sometimes it's hard to tell. The Cats aren't exactly knocking people over in their own zone.
  21. Is it really only one shot for the Panthers? I thought I saw a few to start.
  22. They are a bit too loose when they make passes across the ice. The first goal came off a poor pinch on a nothing play.
  23. Thought it was offside, but at the least it looked like a pick
