  1. Reach for the stars, end up on the moon. Buchnevich a bit of a stretch of course. If it's Kyrou and Tarasenko, then it has to be sweetened. I know they might be able to trade Tank separately, but it's a tough trade for a pending UFA. Only so many places he signs next year.
  2. For sure it has to be a young player. Buchnevich is a 27 year old and seems to be a bit of a playmaker. Also scoring pretty well. Not instead of Kyrou. As an additional piece. That would be my add if they "stuck" us with Tarasenko's contract. We might have to include Dube to have positional spaces free. Not that I like sending Dube out.
  3. Didn't say I liked it. This was the worst of a couple of suggestions I have seen, but I couldn't find the other one. It still included Bertuzzi, which makes no sense at all.
  4. For sure, if you can use the cap space to make the deal better, do it. STL has to move a player like Tarasenko just to make it work. As you say, that doesn't become part of the return only, it involves them paying for it in the trade. STL is not ideal unless we get the players we want. The shorter term cap dumps would be easier. They allow a team to do thing, not just make the trade. Benn would be strategic. They are stuck with a couple of big ones lasting too long. Khudobin is a complete waste, though I guess they could play him. He was just okay a few years back. FLA doesn't exactly have cap dumps other than Hornqvist. He has a 8 team list. We have never weaponized the cap. We need to be open to expiring contracts that could be flipped at TDL to get a decent pick. Should be able to make the trades to get those players now and not cost anything significant.
  5. Here you go. https://thehockeywriters.com/red-wings-could-add-matthew-tkachuk-massive-trade/ Not sure how it even makes sense. Bertuzzi's vax status would be an issue would it not? The funny thing is they say $10M per year. Yikes.
  6. I think the list was a mistake. Sure there are teams he might not want to sign long term with. Other Canadian team for instance. He might consider Toronto, but it's still the same Canadian issues. He would get to play his brother more though. I just don't think his list is as short as the one circulated. It was hauled back as being a mistake. It may have been a ploy by BT to drive some offers. So let me say differently, I think there are about 16 teams he would sign with. Maybe there is just a couple of US teams he wouldn't. Playoffs don't seem to be his thing.
  7. I would go you one better. 1st plus an NHL ready prospect. Even a sophomore player. Lundell + 1st for instance. Just for starters. They would need to send a player our way to make it work, so we also charge for that.
  8. Honestly, STL is not worth trading with unless we totally bend them over. I don't care what they are saying. You want a 100 point player? Pay for it. We don't need you.
  9. I don't think most fans would be okay with a pick or prospect. Has to be more than what ends up being a bunch of people looking up a player on HockeyDB. You know, our draft results. Has to be a Kozens or Zegras or Lundell or Robertson or Thomas or Kyrou or Raymond. That kind of level. The lesser names include other pieces. No crap unless it absolutely comes with a payoff. And it can't be multi year crap.
  10. Buchnevich, Barbachev, Tarasenko, that's about it. The Russian trio. Tarasenko is a pending UFA so yikes. Only for a cap dump. Barbachev is anothe pending UFA, so double yikes.
  11. You still seem to believe we are doing a rebuild. If the only offers are for picks and pospects, you might get part of your wish. 17th overall. Just enough to not get anything better than 5th overall in a lotto win. And make no mistake, we sign Kadri as a result.
  12. I should point out that the 1st is an add on piece, not the principal piece. We have to come out of this no worse than Buffalo got for Eichel. In fact, it has to be better. Tkachuk doesn;t have a broken neck. And he is not signed long term for $10M. He's getting closer to what Brady got.
  13. Why do we need another D? Is he that good and if so, why would NAS trade him. We barely have 9 forwards. I like that we can bring in Pelletier and Rozie, but we are missing 2/3 of a top line. No offence but this is a rebuild trade. It doesn't bear fruit for some time and only makes sense if we are trading everyone over 27. Somebody please wow me with a trade for a player that has a ton of skill and that team needs a pest. It could be a rookie from a team that has loads of talent. It might be a similar age player but that team is missing the grit. No, I don't mean Nylander. LOL
  14. As a Flames fan, this is exactly like predicting players we can draft and then we go and pick a Janko or Mason MacDonald. I dread reading twitter for "insiders" saying we were offered X or Y. Servalli is the only one really left that hasn't gone on vacation. EF is a hack that predicted the time once today. Don't get me wrong, I love putting together trade scenarios. It far more fun than seeing what we actually get. Up to this past couple of days, our odds to win the cup had only dropped to 1 in 20. I almost get the sense we will get a good player haul but have to give up our best prospects and Mangiapane to get it done. So much like the Dougie trade happening and we all went WTF? Please prove me wrong.
  15. The Positivity thread has just crashed. I am not ready for the heartache of a rebuild. We should consider any trade of Tkachuk to a team that could fall apart with a slight push. Make any 1st rounder top 10 guaranteed or we can defer to following draft. The exact opposite of lotto protected. A team like NJ for instance. Strip them of a few good players plus the pick. They make the playoffs, we decide when the draft rolls around. They don't and we still have the option to defer. Only a desperate GM doesn this, but that's kinda what we are hoping for.
  16. That's kind of the point. If they want a 100 points player, it's not going to be cheap. Make no mistake, he is a 100 point player on a top line. FLA - Lundell and Reinhart is the least I would expect from them, and if they needed to send Gudas, so be it. Vegas - no interest there. STL - it's gotta include Kyrou and Parayko to make it work. Or it's Tarasenko instead of Parayko, but needs something sweeter added. Or Buchnevich in place of Kyrou. I don't know if there is a deal I will be 100% happy with, but we likely are losing the best player in the deal. The return has to make up for that fact.
  17. Fox was a funny one. I think we have to stick to teams that could sign him. We may or may not hear until it's too late. Whatever comes back has to be at least a current or future star. Lundell Thomas Stutzle Pastrnak Svechnikov Mercer Hischier Maybe those are out to lunch, but why settle.
  18. Okay, I take back my approval. Giving up Tkachuk and taking on that extra $9M. No way Jose. I was fine with the player for player swap. And they would love him. He matches what their team identity is. To give them also the tools to sign him and Otter, that's gonna cost them.
  19. You missed the entire trade. Robertson + Faksa + Gurianov + Khudobin + Wyatt Johnson + 1st + 2nd, possibly Stankoven (high scoring C in the WHL) for Tkachuk You never see deals like that. Robertson alone was a 40 goal scorer. On a team not known for scoring.
  20. You are as crazy as me. I was also thinking about Gurianov or Khudobin. Definitely star for a star (JR for MT). Heck, I would take that package you detailed in a heartbeat.
  21. I think we need to be patient. With this trade that is. I know that the arbitration date is looming, but it should only impact the teams he hasn't really identified as being interested in. If some team blows the doors off, then make the trade and "start the car". Let me explain this thought process. If the offers haven't come by the date of arbitration, the interested teams are not going to back off. Then can't re-sign him right away, but can as soon as January 1st. They only make a trade pitch knowing he is interested. They get him for 8 UFA years instead of 7 + 1 RFA year. If the offers are there before, then no worries. Pick the best one and start the pivot. If you are bound and determined to get to the playoffs, sign Kadri. If you want to take the time, look for hockey trades. Anyway, don't listen to me. I have been 100% wrong on locking up the team. We lost Guddy and JH on Day 1. We are losing Tkachuk unless he signs a short term deal (5 years or less). I actually think a short term deal would be more painful than a trade, but anyway.
  22. That was a tweet of a tweet from a nobody. Of course you are going to see crazy stuff. The most logical thing I have seen is Kyrou + Krug + 1st, and I don't even think that was worth it.
  23. So, chalk that up to the Flames for not signing him last year. They could have said that they needed a decision, but they didn't want to pressure him into a deal. They chose to keep the offer lower. Takes two to tango. I felt it was a mistake to come in low this summer. It didn't work last summer.
  24. The first part is what I am really starting to think is a problem. You hired the darn GM to run the club. If you can't trust him, then fire him or get a POHO. Somebody where the buck stops. They can spend up the cap if they see fit. Structure of deals and when they are paid do not matter. This may not be the case, but perhaps Edwards meddled too much in the final hours of the Gaudreau dealings. If this in any way inched JH out the door, then they should stick to owning and not running.
  25. No way we could do man for man. Thomas still a bargain this year. STL doesn't have the cap. We would need to take Krug and send back Mackie. Even that doesn't fly. As you say, it was a last year deal. If they want to do Kyrou + Parayko + Barbashev, I would forgo the 1st rounder. LOL. The reason I added Barbashev was that he's a pending UFA and they can't afford him. They kinda need to re-sign ROR and Tank. Still in the mix with them, without them they drop a few pegs.
