  1. I'm not saying he's crap at all. What I am saying is where is the other pieces? If Drysdale is your top player (a Defense not a forward we also need), where is the top prospect? A 2018 drafted guy? Where is the same division premium?
  2. The only thing positive is the top prospect/player. That seems to be well below value compared to the ask and the other suggestions. Even if it included Terry, Drysdale and the 1st, what is the premium for same division? A 2nd? Anaheim didn't want Bennet, wouldn't trade us a decent goalie (chose Toronto). Sorry, but they have to pay big time.
  3. Wow, they really must hate us. Take our best player for nothing. Trade a decent player to another team for a couple of picks.
  4. The complete tweet was that this kid got his first jersey during the playoffs. Between Tkachuk and Johnny, these were two of the most enjoyed players on the team. Easily the most common jerseys in the stands. My son is in his 40's. He's a big STL fan. Went to a couple of games with him and his Tarasenko Blues jersey. If we end up trading with STL, he will be very confused.
  5. Funny how CBJ just re-signed Laine to 4 years at $8.7M. They are over the cap by 6M now
  6. Dallas is a tough choice for me. Have three players there I would be in and one prospect. Hintz Robertson Heiskanen Stankhoven If need be, we could take back Benn with some salary retained. Allows them to retool. So, Heiskanen, Robertson Stankhoven and Benn for Tkachuk and Kylington or Hanifin.
  7. Why does Sutter look so sad. Oh, right. On the other hand that might be him grinning.
  8. My only two avatars have been 13 and 19. Maybe I am bad luck. Bought a Tkachuk jersey to go with my Gaudreau one. It was on sale, so I should have figured it out. My other gear has 23 and Monahan on it. Yikes.
  9. Again, we are helping their cap situation and giving them two NHL players to do it. Not worth it. Trades like this for cap get a 1st back. If you like... Tkachuk + Valimaki for Bratt + Mercer + Severson + Tatar + Holtz + 1st
  10. As much as a cap dump Tank seems to be, he's a big prize in a trade. They can move him as a lateral move and recoup assets for him. Or they can trade Krug. Both are better than dumping him in a Thomas trade. But I digress. If Thomas is truly on the table, then forgo the 1st and get a 2nd prospect. Or take Krug with him and take a 2nd.
  11. I do hope we have some toughness left for the Tiddlywinks of Alberta matches this year. Kane might end up back in SJ this summer and trade Kane somewhere. Draisaitl is still the biggest p*ssy on that team. Nobody left there to fight.
  12. I would do Bratt + Mercer + Holtz + 1st. Wouldn't even give STL the time of day because they seem to be hedging on Kyrou. If need be, we can take Severson to help their cap.
  13. Just to be clear, I am not poo poo'ing offers just due to my opinion. I look at the full trade from both sides. As much as I want player X, I have to be realistic about it. Top player plus top prospect plus a first is pretty reasonable for both sides. The value of the first makes a big difference though. A late one isn't much better than the Iggy trade pick. A lesser top player is fine, but the ceiling needs to be closer to Tkachuk's ceiling. He's just 24. A decade of hockey left in him. May not be HHOF material, but he will impact every game he plays in for some time. Kyrou and Bratt are both fine players in their own rights, but have not done what Tkachuk has done. Whatever the prospect added is, that has to make up for any shortcomings. And because we don't have to trade to any particular team.
  14. Well, I do like that deal for us, but it's not great for STL. We would flip Tank at the TDL just because he would be a pending UFA. If he played really well for us, then sure sign him. I don't know if it makes a lot of sense to have a post 30's player signed long term though. And he would not be cheap to re-sign.
  15. Yikes, that's a pretty bad trade for us. Tatar (31) and Severson (27) and Graves (27) are all pending UFA's. And we pay the cost of Dube and Valimaki to get that crap? Both are RFA's at the end of their current deals.
  16. I was thinking that we should deal him with 1/2 salary retained. Make him more attractive to a team needing a vet. This might make up for having to pay to take him. Or not. I think he was shut down early enough to make it to camp not just coming off rehab like last year. Ther is a decent chance that he could be a productive player. But, the problem is we don't really have the spot for him with playmakers. I would hate to use him with Lucic again. Such a waste. If his shot came back, perhaps a line of Pelletier-Monahan-Toffoli would work. Really don't know until they get the Tkachuk situation ironed out.
  17. Don't get me wrong, NJ is a better pick and prospect (perhaps), but I'm not sure that Bratt is the best option for the #1 part of this deal. The Kyrou deal isn't ideal either and STL has to make a big trade(s) to be able to sign him. They could deal for a LTIR like Weber's and hold off signing until day 1. Or trade Tank to LA or some place he agree to. The longer this goes on (days that is), the more likely a GM is to blink. I think you might see NJ go all in and give up something they didn't want to. Only Hughes is not in play. Being willing to give up the 2OA shows they value Tkachuk more than the future. If Bratt is the main piece they are only willing to offer, then I think they might throw in Sharagovich. It pushes them over STL. It also clears cap they don't have to sign Tkachuk.
  18. 1) Valimaki didn't respond well to Sutter; the reality is that some players don't like that coaching style. He could get better like Kylington did, but it's his problem to get there. Zary was injured (concussion) but he showed being a smart player. Pelletier is a Mangiapane level player that can pass. He is easily our best prospect and just needs the right intro to NHL. Coronato is a player that has a spot waiting for him on the Flames. He's not going to drop out of Harvard to play in the AHL. I don't have concerns with him, as he's not a spoiled player. 2) Canada is Canada. Alberta has a problem with sports writers talking about anything here because they don't stay up late. Nobody wants to go to California now, unless they want that lifestyle (2 hour drive to get milk, land of fake people). 3) The dome does suck. 4) Our best player was constantly complained about when he didn't score. Fans shoveled his driveway. Johnny hate the media and living in the spotlight. He just wants to play hockey. He didn't like being stuck in a place for two years with little contact with his family, and playing in a bubble. He's a family guy. Tkachuk is also big on family. The arena is a big problem. It needs to be resolved. We don't just have one owner like EDM and the city council is not about to just throw cash at the team to get them to build something. EDM is an embarrassment to city councils everywhere.
  19. I seem to recall the same situation in Colorado. 8 game suspension in 20/21 playoffs in the first round.
  20. Tkachuk has player that hate to play against him. STL would just as soon have him play in NY as in STL. I don't know if he's seen as toxic. GM's also look at a player from a line that was the best goal differential in the league. Johnny wasn't the reason they were not getting scored on. I would give the nod to the two other players. And Johnny was known for overpassing in the O-zone or too often too much east west play. We loved and hated it. Long storty short, Tkachuk is a nasty player. He's not the guy you build around, but a guy that makes other teams forget about the weapons out there. He's not fast, just causes mistakes. Drew a lot less penalties than norrmal last year, possibly because the refs were catching on or because he was too noticeable. I think he fits STL very well. They lost Perron. Mr. Sandpaper. They can pivot towards being a Mr. Dressup team like the Oilers, or getting back to what made them great. They had to work on Tarasenko to stop just being a skill guy and start hitting. I don't know what's a fair trade with STL, but if it's not there, it's their loss.
  21. Kadri was always seen as a playoff liability until he wasn't. Neal is an example of a player that hangs like a noose around potential cup winners. Goes to NAS, loses final. Goes to VGK, loses final. Goes to CGY, loses first round. Goes to EDM, loses playin round. If Tkachuk is the top player on a team, then that team better score by committee. If he goes to a stacked team, probably gets to hoist a cup. He wants money and play south of the 49th. Probably doesn't care if it's the Yotes. I don't even think he cares about the cup. But, he likes to engage, so fighting and breaking a hand is part of the game to him. Sure messed up his playoffs. Has he ever been healthy in the post season? Gaudreau went to a team not expected to compete. With him and Laine, they will score a lot of goals though. Need at least another Panarin level player or top C.
  22. While we viewed the AVS as the likely cup winner, the Blues were knocked out in 6 after losing their #1 goalie in game 3. The AVS are a success story, but the Blues have been a contender for years.
