  1. I would say let's carry on with building World Class facilities within and around Calgary. We don't necessarily need the IOC to hold a winter games event when we are ready. I agree we keep building our infrastructure and the new Arena theme area. Calgary needs to assemble a Development Committee to brain storm a better plan for the future.
  2. I would say this had more to do with a lack of faith in the current set of politicians than wanting to hold another Winter Olympics here. The 1988 Olympics unified the entire Province while this effort proved to be very divisive due to a lack of trust not only in the numbers but the ability to deliver without a huge debt. Let's get on with what the real needs are for Calgary.

That goal did not define the game that prevailed at all. Our guys responded very well IMO and the difference was Jones in the other net. I would like to put some of these writers in the net just so they know how fast a "snap shot" can be by one of the best goal scorers. Smith played by far is best game of the season and the writers find a way to not let up on the negative story of our season so far. It makes me wanna puke.

Can't disagree with you here. I'm not feeling the magic with this line of Tkachuk, Backlund and Neal, obviously BP wasn't last night either.

Yeah well Jones had something to say about that at the other end and our snipers couldn't bury their chances. It was actually quite the game for both Goalies.

Yeah he needs to quit doing that pass, especially with the ability of our D to move the puck. Maybe e got to use to that in ARZ when there wasn't much to work with there. He gets an A+ for last nights performance and I hope he keeps it up.

Not to mention you just don't treat respected veteran players like this.

What it means is he is showing to be reliable. Now we need Smith to get to the same place.
  9. We need better results from these two Goaltenders. I don't see these games so whether the defense is terrible and giving up way to many quality scoring chances, thigs need to tighten up obviously.

There is always something happening any player when their performance drops off. If this does go back to when he suffered the injury that had him lose a lot of time it is likely he won't ever be the same. Even now everyone is saying he is trying so hard which likely indicates he is trying to overcome a weakness effecting his play. I agree with those saying to work Rittich into more games.

There are no other Goalies available regardless of suggestions being posted here. Your Goalie is struggling to find his game everyone on the team knows it. Everyone has to do a little more to help him relax and get through it. Shut outs are going to be rare in this new era and yes Smith looked bad on the 3 goals in ANA but we also had opportunities to bury more goals and failed. I think the barometer is the standings not each and every game yelling for change. If we start to plummet in the standings BT will have to act and Smith of all people will understand that.

I agree with the increasing of starts for Rittich and have from day1 for this season. They will be trying as a team to see Smith through his struggles but I would only give the situation into the new year and should the struggles remain, you have to make a change.
  13. It is almost impossible to provide an accurate cost estimate. You have in front of you perimeters of cost and who is contributing towards those costs. To vote YES allows them to put in a bid to be awarded the Games, Step 1. To vote NO puts an end to it. I am like yourself wanting to see us old them here one more time before I go in the ground. It is a leap of faith at this stage however I am voting YES.
  14. We don't even know who the working committees will be comprised of yet however it won't be politicians running the show. Like I said you have convinced yourself of the NO side and I'm not here to debate or convince you otherwise.
  15. You are not going to know the costs, its impossible right now. Vote YES to even go to the bid. Bail later if the estimates and contracts get out of hand would be my recommendation.
  16. Some of those places did not have the facilities available to us now either. To position your NO vote based on what there could be as unknown cost over runs doesn't even allow you to find out. First win the bid, then start the estimates of what has to done. Anyways do what you want, the vote is coming up. I'm not here to convince you.
  17. I have been involved with developments I will guess a lot more than you so to answer your question, yes I have. I also understand the concern surrounding cost over runs but asking for information on things that haven't occurred yet is impossible. The position you take is like " I better not leave the house I might get hit by a car". Naysayers will use all the excuses and yasayers will paint the other side. Go with the type you consider yourself to be is all one can do at this stage. I would love to see the winter Olympics held here again.
  18. How can you comment on cost over runs when nothing has even been developed yet ?
  19. Nobody ? I think you are incorrect as many want to see it happen. Right now we know Calgary's commitment is 379M leading into the Opening over 7 years. The City just put 270M into a new Library so I think as a City we CAN afford it. Like all vote related issues there we be the NO and YES sides, that just the way it works.
  20. Cant afford what ? Could you be more specific ?

What I am suggesting is that they will not play head games with their regular starter at this stage of the season. We know Rittich can be good with limited starts and action but let's not think this small sample is going to have them benching Smith.

Last night's game could/should serve as a good rally for team togetherness. I share and see the same concerns with Smith however he is also one of the veteran Leaders of this group which will have him in a favored position to play.
