Depth is building and this will bode well for us down the road. We need to have another great Draft so hopefully BT doesn't go giving picks away. -
All one as to do is look at who PHI's President is and know they will screw up any hiring. I hope Conroy stays where he is, class act and PHI doesn't like these kind of guys.

The two are very much alike regardless of "status". Smith will have to play is way out of this funk, what the formula will be is up to the coach. Also regardless of the attitude on here about Sigalet listening to Burke the other day they value what he does there and recommends.

Did you happen to watch Carey Price play last night or even the highlights ? He is going through what Smith is ad as veterans they have to play their way out of whatever is the problem. Putting him on ice isn't the answer, every other game may or may not be the answer so I think BP has to develop a feel for when best to use both guys.

I guess this is what I am trying to say, if the aspirations for Bennett were tempered by what we are seeing he would be a good fit with Backlund and Frolik on LW. If all 3 of these players were to score 15 to 20 goals on the high side and shutdown the opposition I think we would all be ecstatic.

You know who Bennett reminds me of is Nystrom that played for us. Nystrom was also a goal scorer in Junior but fast changed his game in order to stick in the NHL. We can't and shouldn't wait forever for a scoring touch to return for Bennett.

So your formula would be to ride him until he loses something like 3 games in a row ? then what, you say I told he is no starter. I would rather BP feel it out and stay with a more balance approach to keep Smith's head in the game.

Patience levels are different with everyone. I say take a balanced approach between the 2 into 2019 and reassess.

Like everything else its early but for some worry and panic will always exist. There will be options come next offseason, maybe not great or better options but afew worth trying if there is no faith to go with what we have in the pipe.

NAS does a lot of stupid things and extending Renne could end up being one of them. Right now they have a good solid duo and are closer to a SC than this team. I have said since the offseason that Rittich should be the back up and should get more games this season to advance his progress. Hopefully you are down on Gilles from what is going on in Stockton, that defense is deplorable. You have progress these guys and IMO age, development state and timing line up.

Why ? Why have him block the youth that should be ready by then ? Let's be honest we got what 4 months out of him last season and what we are getting now. I wouldn't keep pinning my team's hope on Smith any longer.

I fear for Alberta and not just Calgary with respect to any further developments including a new Arena. Oil has always made this province work and it is being mothballed by outside and internal national interests. First things first and that is getting rid of this NDP Government. Tough times are ahead.

I disagree about Smith being in the picture past his contract. Gilles and Parsons are hitting the age where they will need to be tried before anything is brought in from outside IMO. There simply isn't anyone good or better to be had so use this time wisely. If BT is going to be hard nosed and Smith's play continues to be bad release him. I like this group of players, our defense is rounding into shape and with a few changes up front our forwards should be good both O and D. This should all be considered when bringing in young Goalies.

I don't believe there is or was any plans of taking Smith past this contract. I think all eyes will be on Gilles and Parsons because there is not much of anything to trade for or hope for coming from FA. We need to iron out the best arrange with our defense and forwards so a young Goalie can come into a good team without tons of pressure. I have every confidence in Rittich as our back up.
