Exactly, BT needs to figure out is Bennett an asset or not, if he is then Ward is out of not then trade him and let him realize his potential... my hope is Ward gets the boot...sooon!!!!!!

Well he’s on TSN saying they need Tom find the “answers” well it’s pretty obvious he’s in over his head... never has the same line combos even if he finds some that click he changes then the next night, that’s one of the issues how do you expect player to find consistency when he never has any...then there is the very questionable ice time, plays etc...list goes on and on, clearly what he’s showing so far it’s that he doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing... it’s well over due to say oops! Made a mistake on this one time to find a real coach with some credentials

I’d be more inclined to spread that over 2 years and get a top 5-10 prospect in 2022 michelle deeper draft...use this year and next to move out as best you can older core players to make cap room: Gio Ryan Lucic Backlund and pending on the return maybe: Gaudreau monahan though the latter two I would be carful moving for the right return they are not really the biggest issue

Your not being negative your being a realist, cause this is exactly what they say and do for years now and the fan base is quite frankly sick and tired of the predictable disappointment. it’s why many of us are calling for some changes to the core and coaching staff as the room culture is and has been this for far too long! with nay luck BT can manage some changes, but it’s a bad year with a flat cap and restricted player movement across boarders...

I agree but would not mind if we could move Dube and Backlund too...if memory serves both Zary and Pelletier are LW’s? that’s still an extremely deep LW side: Tachuck Manji Zary Pelletier on the D side we should be good for 4 more years with having: Hanifin/Tanev Valimaki/Anderson Kylington/Mackey the bottom pairing could stand some upgrading maybe, and also will need to keep in mind in 4 years Tanev would also need to be replaced but otherwise strong here and in net too. it really boils down to needing 3 quality Ctrs and 4 quality RW’s (which we need now as it is) I guess what I’m saying is, moving out most of those players really won’t change much of anything other than getting younger, maybe a culture change and freeing up cap space, so it’s a win, win, win 👍😊

I totally agree...if he shakes this off, hopefully it’s a learning experience for him that regardless of how and what his teammates are...bring it every night... oh and on that note I think Manji should have an A on his jersey...he may be young but he’s been around long enough and plays the game the right way...reward him?

I think at this point...5 years of foolishness and building and saying give them time to learn is more than enough..he’ll Edm started a year or two after us and we are still “growing?” Unacceptable period and every fan has a right to be pissed right off at this point.

Ok just watched the Ward pregame video, how the heck is this team “not there yet”???? This core has been playing together (and much better than since he’s been the coach) for 5 years now... it’s these comments that scream Ward has no f@$&ing clue!!!!

Ok so first of all, I know we have what’s best for Mathew Tachuck thread but it’s super old and not really fitting for a general player thread as if memory serves it was built for when he was a rookie for the most part so I decided to start this thread for him as an established player... MODs please feel free to modify this/merge it or whatever you feel is best, but there is a general discussion regarding Mathew Tachuck I would like to get going: So question for all, why the heck is Mathew Tachuck putting all the pressure and taking responsibility for the team’s play? I get it but the irony is he’s too small for a PWR forward, which is not good it will shorten his career...he’s a bit of a Theo Fleury (probably not quite as good, but similar in many ways) point is we need a few big strong but also skilled forwards...like seriously why the hell is Lucic not doing that...plans his Hash Rate in front of the opposition’s net? Makes no sense!

That’s fine but I really wish they would give him like 7 games with Tachuck and either Manji or Dube...probably Dube as he’s played RW for a Gio part of this season and also he has some chemistry with Bennett. Gaudreau/Monahan/Lindholm Tachuck/Bennett/Dube Manji/Backlund/ Levino Lucic/Gaudwin or Ryan/Simon I just can’t shake the feeling moving Bennett to line 2 Ctr would give this team the better part of three solid lines that would be troublesome...not that there are many options for 3 line RW but maybe one of Levino or Simon may connect/hell with Backlund and Manji Come on Ward it’s time to put your foolish pride aside and use the assets you have in a proper manner...also while your at it can you please adjust the defence to: Hanifin/Tanev Valimaki/Andersson Gio/ Nesterov

I know, it’s like they have copied the old Mlt template of building a team...skilled and fast little guys...which clearly won’t win... I mean I’m not a huge dude myself but even I know, a hockey team of guys under 6’ is only gonna get pushed around and banged up... 1-2 skilled fast gritty guys is fine but we have a ton of them...let me ask this, who is the power forward on their team? I guess Lucic is but he’s a depth guy, we need at least 1 if not 3 skilled fast, agile power forwards in the top 3 lines, we have none which is the majors issue up front I think...that and RHS RW’s as a whole

Yup it’s clear there’s something wrong in the locker room, and I think it’s Ward, time for him to go! this team should be the one of the most tight knit teams in the NHL as the majority of them (core) have been together for 5 years but their play looks like a bunch of first year midget players.

Ok it’s time for Ward to go, it’s pretty clear from how the team plays he’s lost the players....forget what they all say about it being a tight room, it’s clearly not the case based on their play. I like BT’s mind set, now if he practices what he preaches I’m definitely happy with that...it’s good he took the time to address things, definitely builds confidence in a shaky fan base. also very encouraging about Bennett, he’s definitely not gonna give him away, if at all 😊👍

While I do agree I think one very key player was available that most of us think he didn’t even try for...Toffoil at 4x4.25 was doable, instead we got: levino Simon Nordstrom Rinaldo Stone Froese Robinson all these guys have been absolutely useless and equal Toffoil’s salary. it’s stuff like this when we badly needed at top 6 RW, probably more than his work on the D... which honestly wasn’t that bad. our top 3 lines could have looked like this...and I will add in a minor adjustment to account for my personal take on Bennett and Backlund: Gaudreau/Monahan/Lindholm Tachuck/Bennett/Toffoil Manji/Backlund/Dube Lucic/Ryan/Godwin now because of that one contract we have a mishmash of hole fillers that can’t fill the holes...and quite honestly facing a huge overhaul to the core... having said that, I’m not so sure if BT may be a mad genius, maybe he knew the core needed to go but did this to help ensure the core fails and then he’s fully justified in moving some core guys out without serious fan backlash? I doubt it but it is kinda possible...he may be setting things up starting with the back end which looks kind good if they move out Nester (who is not that bad as of late but) and Gio Markstrom Rittich Valimaki/Anderson Hanifin/Tanev Kylington/Makey up front we could be looking at a few interesting things...maybe he’s trying to line up an Eichel deal?

Sorry to see you go, but I get it, been a flames fan since they last won the cup...and I honestly have been thinking how long can one support this stuff, I’m gonna wait this out and see if BT is true to his words and make real hard decisions if the team Fails this year to get past the 1st round...he promised all the fans that the core would change if they fail to do that...well ok let’s see if it’s one of the core or if it’s gonna be a full scale core rebuild which is clearly needed...I mean really what has BT managed since the infamous Lindholm and Hanifin acquisition? Ok sure he did sign Markstrom but a 30 y/o to 6 years? And Tanev...4 years at what 4.5 I think...I mean for now theses are good but I can’t help but feel in 2 years this is gonna turn out to be 2 more bad contracts...god I hope I’m wrong but as flames fan we kinda expect bad things now...and this is why I question my dedication to this team sometimes... never thought I would but there comes a time when you need to stop banging your head against a wall... hope post like these may wake up the Mgt of this team and they start to take action, cause they are starting to loose their fan base and if I may say...that’s lost revenue so maybe mgt may start to care and start lighting a fire under this team?
