I wouldn’t be opposed to an extension either, but he was pretty bad for the first few months so I’d definitely have no interest in giving him more but absolutely an extension for 1-2 makes sense, he’s recently been playing well enough to earn his current salary...but I’d say we need to save some bucks for a Rittich raise too...
  2. Well we know he use to score but can’t now after too much time in Edmonton and getting a huge contract, Thales things happen to lots of guys...we also know he is big and tough which is the main reason he’s here now so...be big and tough and not just for protecting Gaudreau, Tachuck is as much or more important, he needs to be an enforcer for the whole team and let’s be honest we really don’t care if they poke him it’s not like he’s as valuable as the likes of Lindholm, Tachuck, Monahan etc...teams know this about him that he’s not coming off the boards next shift if he cheap shots someone, they instead behave while he’s on the ice...that’s not helping we need teams to behave even when he’s on the beach but I sure as heck wouldn’t especially now after that stand point he made cause I know if I take a shot at someone while he’s on the bench he’s not coming after me...all I need to do is behave while he’s on the ice for what 5-7 mins of a game...that’s easy and then own the rest of the Flames for the rest of the game...that’s one of the reasons we get pushed around
  3. Ok I have been patient and a lot of benefit of doubt about Lucic, was ok with his lack of scoring on the premise he would be kinda an enforcer and agitator...all be it an expensive one...however, if he won’t fight and get into it when needed then what the **** is the point of him...I’m at a point I can confident in saying he’s a complete waist of both cap and roster space...hopefully we can burry him in the A or trade him for a bag of pucks or something???
  4. I’m definitely linking how he thinks, the new look lines are well thought out and he’s gonna roll lines according to who’s clicking... id love to see all the lines click and just explode tonight and every night especially Looch he was such a great FWD in BOS and has all the ingredients to be a solid power forward would be great to see him get it back

Talbot is money that has been waisted, it would have been better spent on signing Chucky...3mil waisted period!
  6. Funny you say that, cause Lombardi is exactly who I was thinking of..him and Martian St. Louis in his early years here in Cgy, the latter of those two obviously figured it all out and became a star the former had a decent career and showed signs of brilliance. I’m of the thought Oats could help Bennett’s career become like St. Louis otherwise he may be a high first round Draft pick Lombardi...not a horrible thing but I’d rather see him more like St. Louis then Lombardi...two players I also really liked here😊
  7. Mmm this Oats thing seems to have some merit, I’m thinking Bennett could and probably should become a client of oats😊

Lehner would be my #1 target right now all be it it will cost some coin but we’ll worth it...only thing is if it were done we would have to let Ritich go he’s getting to a point of 3mil+ per season very soon if he keeps developing this way...and I’d also consider Remier in Fla as my second choice (I think you could squeeze either a good prospect or decent draft pick from them)...Tabilot is my distant 3rd option all be it cheaper option over Rimier there is less squeeze they and both kinda rebound projects. all and all I think it’s a smart move to let Ritich have the chance to be our go to, he earned it 😊
  9. You know what, I’m super disappointed out of the gate with the coaching...why in the hell are they not rolling 4 lines equally, they actually can do this but they really need to mix things up. I have always agreed Backlund should anchor the 3rd line. He’s been super as no. 2 and like Bennett he took a few years to get to where he’s at, and he was very quite about his climb. in any event I’d like to see a few experiments this year...say 3-5 games Bennett and Tachuck Bennett and Jankowski I would also like to see Tachuck on the RW on the top line for a bit with JH and Mony...this is something I think could really pan out and would also really make a difference in the other lines but the only way this happens is if they are willing to roll 4 lines pretty much evenly.... JH-Mony-Tachuck Bennett -Jankowski-Lindholm/Neil Dube-Backlund-Lindholm/Neil Carik (sp)-Ryan-Lazar or whoever the 4 th nine may not be able to roll evenly but the first three could all, be rather dangerous and fairly even, granted this is not quite even spread of talent but fairly close and the 2nd and 3rd lines are about as close to even as you could get... all and all I think this type of division of skills and more equality of ice time across the lines would generate trouble night in night out for many teams. And yes I do expect JH and Monahan’s points to go down a bit with less ice time but I’m really good with that if other produce more then normal because of it, I’d rather they drop 10 Pts each and see the other forwards pick up 10 each...that’s a loss of 20 Pts from two guys and a pick up of 100pts between 10 others that would be huge and quite reasonable if done the right way balance is the key to this team, they are not balanced lines just yet but If they do i think the team will excel to the next level...we don’t have a generational superstar, heck our 2 super star guys are barely that, I’d say they are actually more top level star players, but this year we have more star players so play to that strength and balance out the lines in both skill and ice time!!!!! They have yet to really try this and seem crazy focused on top line to bottom line talent and division of ice time
  10. I have to agree with most of the comments about BT, but would like to add, he seems to have a sensible and realistic approach which is new and very much needed here. I do agree, on paper even last year the results were far below the paper projections.... having said that, for the most part BT is doing well, and in fairness he’s not had the best of luck with on ice results, hopefully he can’t be unlucky all the time in that area, players have to also produce to expectations especially proven players you bring in by FA, Brewer is a prime example of this horrible season for him for whatever reason, But at the time BT made the move cause it was the best option and deal available and should have had better results by far my faforate and probably the best GM in recent years here
  11. Well I hope BT actually pays attention to his own words...Some times change can be within and it can be something simple as a change in mind set. This comment speaks volumes, I have been saying this off and on all year. In my opinion, there is some change needed on the roster, we are all mostly in agreement, the old Vets need to go. That said, my opinion, a vet on this team should be Backlund, anyone older then him should be on the chopping block to clear room. now I say this because this is a young and impressionable core that needs to find their own identity and grow together, that’s what we refer to as building team chemistry. Older then backlund guys are able to influence the mind set of the younger guys, it’s just human nature for younger tonfollow the lead of older, so when we speak of defeated attitudes and mind sets Stajain comes to mind every time and is a guy who’d the younger players respect and follow...so they are following a defeated mindset as a leader figure? Mmmm seems to me moving Stajain that’s internal mindset change right there.... this brings me to my unpopular point, captain change, is leadership change, and although Gio has been awesome and I advocated the flames sign him back the year he went to Russia to play, this is an Iggy situation all over again. Take the C off his chest he is an above adverse D which is good considering his age, All things considered, he’d fetch a good return still if for no other reason then his leadership and above adverage play. Time is now before we can only get a Iggu type return. this leads to the changing mentality thing, and although Many would say Mony, I disagree, he’s and awesome A but not C material (side note for those who have said he is not an elite Center, see how poor the team was, without him, that’s an elite Center, I did not Johnny Hockey pick this team up so many people have said Johnny was making Mony better I have and can now say with confidence it was Mony making Johnny better which again is an elite Center) now back on track, who should captain this team it should be a guy with a win win mentality and not a at or reserved fella (this would be only reason why I’m not in favor of Mony) so this this said, there is only ONE guy on this team that embodies a win win mentality and disputes his age and inexperience he has proven to have leadership abuiities and that Matt Tachuck (sp?) guys will follow him to the end of the earth, even our defeated vets follow his lead and there are many amazing examples of young untested leaders Just look at Crosby and before anyone says yeah but he had Lemiux mentoring him, so too has Matt from Gio and I’m good with that. also the final point which everyone knows, we need a decent tandem in G, and with any luck under 30 to keep with the core age. Proof of this is LVK, take Flurry from them I doubt they are where they are today. just my 2 cents on things that would be fairly easy to change the mind set in the team and also also open not only roster spots but provide us with some trading chips to possibly use for trade bait or if nothing else help move out tougher vet contracts (yes Brewer is the obvious one, may be able to move him with Gio but the return would suck but at least Brewer would be gone and that’s a huge gain)
  12. This, is mostly true...but what BT failed to do is see the lack of chemistry on the team. It’s not about 1 super line but being able to roll out 4 lines look at LVK new team that rolls 4 solid lines no super stars or one amazing line but 4 solid and dangerous lines because they click together and can be interchanged from lines 1-4 all because of chemistry...that’s on the coach to build. althouh they are now finally bringing in some AHLers they should have done that about 10 games ago... all we can hope for now is that they manage to move out some guys that don’t fit in here and as many over 30 guys as they can he older vets seem to not fit with our younger core 27 and under guys
