  1. Playoffs? - Yes. 1. Edm 2. Vegas 3. Cgy 4. LA 5. Van 6. Sea 7. Ana 8. SJ Goals: Lindy Kahdri Mangi Assists: Hubie Backlund Weegar
  2. How they lose would be more telling I think. +4 losses where Marky did his part but has no support would be easier to swallow than a bunch of "shoulda stopped those" losses. Considering the D are going from one on one to a zone coverage, I'm not putting alot behind the results of the first dozen or so games.
  3. Theres alot of Jet faithful just as surprised. Considering the word was they didnt want to re sign is making people around here think this is more to facilitate a move(s) before TDL.
  4. Lets not pretend there isnt reason for concern, this season hant started so I'm not pulling out the pitchfork on anyone yet. As much as last season may have been an anomaly so may have been the season before. What stands out to me the most is during the Vezina caliber season is there were alot of times where Marky was left out to dry but still came up with a big save. There were more than a few times where you could say he stole the game. Last year I would say there were more games where the opposite happened. Numerous mis-plays behind the net, a noticeable amount of first shot in occurrences, the overall sense that something wasnt right. These are hard to ignore even for the most flame colored glasses fan. Even though there will always those who will never be satisfied with his performance I'm hoping for "average" this year, dare I say even "above average"?
  5. The team has dodged the injury bug for so long its bound to catch up at some point.
  6. The torches and pitchforks will be out by game 6 if history tells us anything.
  7. In alot of instances I dont think that gets called. Chalk it up as part of the learning curve.
  8. I dont know what to expect. Just hoping for entertaining hockey this year, anything different from the snooze fest that was last year.
  9. Back to the D isnt a bad option if utilized properly. Guys like Ras and Z have heavy shots that never get used enough or never get screened/tipped properly. Thats partially why 2nd and 3rd string goalies look like veznia candidates against the team.
  10. Dont worry, I know alot of old school Habs fans (my old man is one) and the shine of Caufeild and Suzuki wont be enough withstand the tarnish of the Anderson and Gallagher contracts more than this season.
  11. I just hope someone else besides Rogers or Scotiabank win the naming rights. And not something pious like "save the whales" arena.
  12. No one really knows whos been approached and who has approached concerning player availability but there would be more reason for criticism if he made an underwhelming trade for the sake of trading the player. Again its a no win situation for him so may as well get the best return possible. If that means waiting for TDL then so be it.
  13. If history has taught us anything the blow it up season will resume 7 games in if theyre not 7-0-0.
  14. Bakes was never a point producer pre NHL and was most likely not drafted for that reason. Trying to make him into one may have lessened his effectiveness and shortened his time with the team.
  15. Not likely, a newer expansion team from the south winning was a selling point for the league. Wouldnt matter if it was the oil or flames. /adjusts tinfoil hat
  16. Conroy: Trades Toff for a younger upgrade. Internet fanbase: WHAT ARE YOU DOING? YOU GOT HOSED!!!!! Conroy: Makes no trades for 2 weeks. Internet fanbase: OMG DO SOMETHING!!!!!! No win situation.
  17. Given the popular opinion of many on the boards seemed only right to bump this thread.
  18. The first point sounds like guesswork The second I kinda agree with No interest in Duclair. I'd rather retain Zad. He seems like someone who wants to stay. Was it a particular issue/player and has that already been resolved? It's the time of year where everyone becomes an analyst and has all the answers (this board included). I'll wait until the dust settles before I worry or celebrate the upcoming season(s).
  19. I dont know if I would call it unhealthy but my main concern is the fact that the news of a players non extension makes it out to the media. This makes things alot more difficult for the team to get the best possible return when the player gets moved which in my mind is a bit of an a**hole move, wether its the player or agent that does it, it causes undo difficulties for the team. This would mostly affect small market Canadian teams the most.
  20. One of Conroys first statements was "if you dont want to be here then you're gone", well even if you're not voicing your non comittal to the team, sitting on the fence till the 11th hour speaks volumes. I dont know if retaining some of the previous coaching/mgmt personell from last year is part of the players issue but the line need to be drawn or else whats to stop any player on an expiring contract from doing the same? Unofficially I would ship them all to Arizona. It's already the leagues dumping ground for bad contracts so it may as well be the dumping ground for bad attitudes.
  21. The idea that Lindy is in the drivers seat should be quashed. Yes he may have had a down year but value wise its still one of the best contracts out there. He has no no movement clauses and can get shipped anywhere, I believe that puts Conroy in the drivers seat. I'm not against paying him his value in todays market and hes still one of the most complete players out there but cap it at 5 year max. Be up front about it and see what happens, like others have said theres no shortage of teams that would do a deal and worry about the $$ and term later.
  22. There seemed to be alot of that last year. I dont know enough about Graves since COL either but as others said a proper D first defenceman for Hanifin would be a move forward.
  23. So taking into consideration the supposed new direction of the team, like others I would like to not draft the safe pick this year. This seems like the most opportune time to draft a dynamic boom or bust player. I'm not sure if someone like that is available at 16 but you can sign or trade for safe players anyday. Try highest ceiling regardless of floor.
