    That's the truth he could take up until the new year, if he continues to play like recently it's going to look better and better. I don't think he's made mistakes as much recently and the 5th goal wasent his fault last night, I've heard some people say that. If granlund gets his stick on that we have a goal, and everyone is commending him on a great play.

    And if hamilton continues to get better as he has been the contract could end up like a steal, just like the ekman-larsen contract is really a steal, so is the brodie contract.

    This is the truth, and honestly how many players dont want to play games. Especially a 24 year old goaltender, why would he want to sit in the press box. Im sure he wants to get better, and prove to someone, this organization or another, that he is ready to play in the NHL.

    Hamilton is probably overpaid for how he is playing right now, but as he gets better I have a feeling his contract will look like a huge steal. Backlunds contract is tradeable, and personally if he was the 3rd line centre( like I think he should be), I dont mind the contract or player. Bouma wasent playing all that badly before the injury this year, tbh I still thought he was one of our best forwards thorugh the first 3 games. But I guess it all depends on point of view.

    I actually thought smid played well the games he played, which was sheltered minutes but I would rather see smid playing sheltered minutes then russell playing top 4. I actually dont mind the combination of gio-wideman in our top 4, and the combination of brodie-hamilton. I think its much better for our top 4 but thats just me.

    I could think of many reasons. Maybe BH will stop playing him like a top 4 dman. Maybe hamilton will get more icetime. I mean obviously the negatives are he cant increase his trade stock or block 10 shots a game.

    If russell is down for an extended period its a blesssing in disguise.

    I was happy to see Ramo have a good game tonight, but im still baffled by their treatment of ortio through all of this. Hopefully Ramo runs with this and gains confidence. On a side note they need to figure out what they are doing ortio.

    The problem really is that neither wideman or russell is a top 4 D man, but BH plays them like they are, like I said earlier Russell was top on the team in minutes till the end of the 2nd. Its almost as weird as ortio not getting a start on a back to back night. First pp of the game in washington and russell/wideman are out together. ffs.

    Im more wondering if the flames are making a trade and looking for some help in the AHL since neither ramo or hiller will be going back down.

    Have you stood in the net before? Regardless if someone said that those goals were weak, there has been plenty of weak goals, and D zone coverage is never going to be perfect doesnt mean your goalie doesnt make the save.

    I agree with you but at the same time he hasent played alot of hockey since last january, so its not so easy to say he should be ready. Im kinda getting tired of this whole win and your in thing BH does, yes ortio had a bad game but id like to see him start another same with hiller or ramo.

    That's true. I don't see any deal where they give up a 1st round pick for Raymond and hiller, that doesn't make sense for them. Im sure we could work a deal where we got rid of Raymond with hiller but the return would be less. I wanna see how Raymond does tonight before I suggest trading him

    http://flamesnation.ca/2015/8/26/how-giordano-s-extension-creates-possibilities As much as I dont like some of the deals, this is great article highlighting how much cap space is possible to have going into the 2016-17 season at this point and then further on down the line. I do agree that some players have to go, but I think in terms of BTs long term plan he is winning there. If he can clear out even one or two of these contracts we want to go this season, it will be a win in my opinion.

    You could say that about alot of projects around town to be quite honest. Ring roads are going to out live there life, overpasses will need repairs, schools might need improvements etc.

    That is for sure one of the most frustrating parts of going to a flames game or stamps game, standing in line for 30 minutes to go to the bathroom or get something from a canteen. I would like to see new buildings where people have a great experience, even now people dont enjoy going to stamps games becuase it is generally cold and miserable. Also bringing in new concerts and events will help make the city money, it wont hinder it. Redoing the west end of downtown would help the city as a whole, not hinder it either. I really cant believe people are arguing against spending money on something like this, when your tax dollars wont be that much different per individual person, as I mentioned in a previous post you might only be looking at 20-30 dollars per person per month. I would love to see a new arena to be proud of, and be able to see concerts without going somewhere else because our facilitys are not good enough.

    Both the arena and mcmahon are outdated, and the clean up of the area would help the city. They are going to make money regardless of building a new arena or not, also the field house was already slated for construction, they are just suggesting building it there instead of where was orginally proposed. Also 3/4 is not being paid for by the city, as 250$ million is being paid for by ticket tax, 200$ million put up by the flames, 240$ milion for community revitilization, and 200$ for the field house( that was already planned money), so I dont know where you got 3/4 of the funding. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/flames-announce-plans-for-900m-arena-and-stadium/ The saddledome is outdated and we could use a new stadium especially with the new one going up in edmonton. In Calgary its already a problem that certain shows wont come to the saddledome, Id like to see that changed.

    Really the tax increase shouldnt be that noticeable as I said before, theres 1.1 million people in calgary, and if half of those are taxed it shouldnt really be that noticeable. Also as you said this could be key to future devolpment which I would be happy about.

    Actually 200 million dollars really wouldnt be that much from the average taxpayer, population is 1.097 million people. If 650k are working adults thats 307$ in taxes for the year or 25 bucks a month if my math is right. I mean that might be alot of money to some people but considering this figures to be a pretty expensive project, and they are redoing most of the west end I wouldnt be too upset.

    I wonder if the fact raymond played top 6 minutes in vancouver and toronto could interest ottawa. If we packaged him and our 2nd would that be enough? I mean he had a rough season with us but I think his game is better suited for the eastern conference.

    Does anyone think its possible Ramo might be looking for to much money and BT is just not interested in signing him at that cap hit? Is it possible we see him go before the draft for a pick for the rights to negotiate early with him?

    This way of having 3 goalies battle for spots actually works out better. IF ortio comes in and steals the show you can always make a trade going into the season of Hiller or Ramo, theres always teams looking for a goaltender. I really think they would want Gilles starting in Stockton next year.

    Am I the only one who could be excited if we went into next season with the additions of Nakladal, Morrison. With the other D prospects we have such as Wotherspoon, Kulak, Culkin etc. If we were to sign a player like cody franson or make a trade for a luke schenn our D depth going into camp would look really good!

    Honestly I think you are gunna overpay on the free agent market for beachumin and jackman. A trade for a player like luke schenn or mark pysyk who have some potential next season and for a few years down the road fits the rebuild more in my opinion then a 35 year old player.
