  1. I'm not touching that one.
  2. As good as Elliott has been on this run, he is now finally just reaching CJ’s game starts. Elliott has lower SA% and higher GAA, but identical W’s and L’s. Got to be happy with what this tandem has done thus far. It’s some nice knowing both are capable of getting us wins.
  3. I’d lean towards the later, lock that man up and throw away the key. I think if Burke had his way this would be done already. I think the owners have been holding this one up. This is Burke’s 5th year as POH, that is probably the window he was given to turn this team around. The way this season started, heads were sure to roll. Now that we are seeing growth, progress, and likely playoffs, I can see extensions handed out soon. Edit: This is BB's 4th year
  4. Where would our season be without CJ?
  5. Thats good information, thanks for sharing. Reinforces what we've been seeing. We need more from Elliott.
  6. I would hope its just pants. Cant imagine changing pads across the league Feb 4. Now that would be comical and PVR material on the first night.
  7. Trust me, I watch the games, usually in a live setting at the dome. You don't see me dragging stats out here like some, other than W, L and SA%. No I don’t think the defense made either goalie shine. What I’m saying is there is presently one goaltender that gives us the best chance at winning. What we need is for the other to raise his game so that we have 2 goaltenders getting us wins, not just one.
  8. There’s no question the team was playing awful the first 20 games, but Elliott was not giving this team a chance to win then or now. First 20 games; Elliott, 11 games, 3W, 8L, SA% 0.879 Johnson, 9 games, 5W, 4L, SA% 0.908 Blaming the team for Elliott having league worst SA% is weak.
  9. Elliott has 10 losses this season. Only 2 losses came when he had a SA% > 0.900 (WSH & NYI). Where exactly do you think the Flames let him down early in the season?
  10. Johnson keeps us in the game last night and gave us an opportunity to win, but his performance is wasted by a poor performance from the entire group in front of him.
  11. Wow! Just WOW! Johnson stops 3 straight breakaways in the 3rd to preserve the win and not one comment here from the peanut gallery. He has a 0.923 SA% while playing mostly contenders yet some still want the other guy. Others would sooner talk about how poorly we drafted down center recently, our weakest position at the time and would rather seen some far fetched dmen choices instead. The Benny Hill show was funny but this stuff here above………
  12. I agree with this. We are now mid season and Johnson has proved he gives us the best chance to win. I see Johnson getting the bulk of the games moving forward. We can use the excuse of bad bounces for Elliott but good goaltenders stop bad bounces too. Looking at the schedule I could see Elliott playing NJD and TOR and maybe 1-2 more in Jan, Johnson gets the rest. Having said that, you are only as good as your last game in the goaltending business, anything can happen. Elliott needs to be ready for when he’s called on next because we need both.
  13. Ramo’s fate was sealed with the injury, Flames had to look elsewhere. I think Ortio was much weaker than Elliott up high. Interesting comparison with similar games played though.
  14. Rogers Place in Edm was $600M, plan B in Calgary would be no cheaper. CalgaryNext is estimated to be $1.13B which is double the cost but accomplishes 4 areas of need, not just one. West Village as it sits is dead, no development will ever occur there, CalgaryNext would kick start endless development there. The cost savings if all done together would be $330M not $100M.
  15. Plan B accomplishes ¼ of the Calgary Next proposal at 1/2 the cost. The other ¾ (football, fieldhouse, contamination cleanup) still needs to be done and it wont be cheaper if all done separate.
  16. Boy, its some quiet in here. Johnson is giving us arguably the best goaltending in the league yet no one is talking about it. Here's some food for thought.
  17. Chad Johnson is saving our bacon. He is 4-1 in his last 5 games with a 0.948 SA%. He’d be 5-0 if CHI never stole one in the last 2 minutes of the game. He is clearly our #1 moving forward.
  18. Just tired of the Engelland bashing, that's all. In 60 minutes, mistakes happen at times in every area of the ice, but you focus mainly on Engelland (Bouma, Bolilg). Most others get passes it would appear. Nice win!
  19. There's a fine line between winning and losing these days. Nice Win! We finally looked good tonight! Leave it to you to single out Engelland in a negative way in a must have Win!
  20. I agree as well. His skating is fine and he plays the position well enough. With the true enforcer gone from the game Engelland’s role on this team is even more important. He is the only player on this team (minus Bolig) that keeps the opposition tough guy/ahole honest. See game 1 vs Lucic.
  21. Your right, its all speculation. Both sides have kept the details quiet, eliminating outside interference. The longer this goes though, the higher the risk of it turning nasty with irreversible damage. I think we can safely say that JG is looking for something north of SM’s $6.375 otherwise he would’ve been signed by now. After watching TNA at the Worlds, particularly Nathon McKinnon who is a #1 center and power forward, why would JG think he is more valuable than NM? JG is the smallest hockey player in the NHL and a LW’er who is immensely talented, but is he worth more than NM? How many people here would swap JG for NM right now? IMO, JG should be making < Gio but > SM long term. So we wait.
  22. This might have more to do with BB than BT. Burke is on record as saying he has negotiated more difficult contracts in his time and he is not about to let this one………. The Irishman appears to have drawn a line in the sand and BT’s hands are somewhat tied, which may not be a bad thing.
  23. If a player reaches his performance bonus, then everyone usually benefits. Now that Smid announced he will not play this year, does BT have access to those $’s now or at a later date?
  24. I’m not sure how $0.63 against the Cap is a non issue? Many here thought Bouma’s extra $0.5 was the end of the world, but anyways……… I’m curious to see what BT has in mind for Smid’s available $3.5.
  25. A 1A, 1B goaltending duo sounds great, and it happens, but its not sustainable. The only time it ever happens is when both compete relatively even by SA% measurement resulting in similar ice time or games played. You ride the goaltender with the hot hand, if both are hot then you try to play them both. If both are cold……….well then you have to play somebody. Last season, we had two goaltenders that never rose to the occasion, that’s why they are both gone. Ramo looked to be improving as the season went on, then the unfortunate injury. Do we wait to see how Ramo heels come Sept and miss the boat on other available goaltenders or do we cut bait and move on? The later is the less risk. A 1A, 1B is an ideal situation, but in the end both are worthy and both want paid. In a Cap world you can’t pay everyone and there’s only one net to tend. This season we are lined up perfectly for a 1A, 1B, and they both might play great and equally, but I’ll guarantee you one will be gone next season.
