  1. I hope Hiller starts the next 8 games in a row, because that will mean we will have won atleast 7 of them.
  2. You don’t make money from building roads, unless it is a toll road. Stoney is not a toll highway and it will never make the city a dime. A city without major, smooth flowing arteries is like an unfit individual with high blood cholesterol. A health city is one that moves traffic.
  3. Unless Higgins requested a trade or pissed off management with words spoken, it makes absolutely no sense to cut a player permanently from the line up, then announce to the world that player is available because he is too old for their team. If Higgins had any value last week, he certainly doesn’t anymore.
  4. Bingo! Our GT is our last line of defense, as a result he plays under a microscope and gets ROASTED whenever the puck enters our net. Mistakes or missed assignments are happening all over the ice with the remaining 20 players yet in most instances they get a pass. The team who makes the fewest mistakes often wins the game and right now Ramo is making very few mistakes and has become a legit #1 GT, let’s hope he stays focused and can keep it up.
  5. If we can launch a vehicle into space, travel 9 months, then land the vehicle safely on another rock not named earth, all the while the vehicle reports back with pictures and numerous scientific study’s for months on end, surely we can organize a few shovels, trucks and pumps to clean up some contaminated soil and water in the heart of a thriving city. When this clean up does start, it will be all or nothing. Obviously what happens under the river stays under the river, there will be no digging going on there. If you want the dream development as described in the Flames proposal, then the entire area south of the river will need cleaned up to make way for unconditional future development. Leaving contamination in the ground outside of the building footprint does not welcome additional commercial and residential development that the city will need to draw tax dollars from. As Kehatch mentioned above, the meat of the negotiations has yet to begin, hopefully the negotiations proceed and conclude in a professional manner (not like up north), because the end result should benefit all.
  6. That should put an end to the Varmonov acquisition conversation. Here’s an update on Ramo’s play as of late.
  7. Ramo was a UFA. He was coming off a rather successful season (0.912 SA%) and was comparing offers from other teams. As to what teams may have been interested nobody knows. Flames may have paid a premium for a short 1 term deal but what was the harm when they had the cap space?
  8. Yes, the chart represents Ramo. I presented it because of his steadily improved play. Rather than plot his SA% for every game played, which would show the extreme highs and lows, I’ve done a 5 game moving average SA% instead. The chart has been extended to include his entire season. The entire team started the season slow. I’m not saying Ramo is our future, just giving him a little support at a time when most are criticizing the position.
  9. Good suggestion Deed's, I'll include that line on any future postings. I'll go slow so even you can follow.
  10. The chart below captures a 5 game moving Save Percentage for one particular NHL goalie that is definitely available via trade. Each point on the chart represents the average of his last 5 games played. The chart only captures his last 15 games played this year. First question is; Would you be interested in acquiring this goalie? Yes or No. If yes, what would you offer in trade to acquire the goalie?
  11. Without a Cap, all the good players would gravitate toward a few teams in the biggest markets, the ones with endless open wallets. A few teams in this league could afford to pay every player on their team $20M dollars annually and still turn a profit, if there was no Cap. That would be less healthy for the league than keeping everyone on a level playing field. The Cap also protects the owners from themselves ensuring they make even more $$$.
  12. Russell was on the ice for 1 GA last evening. Monahan lost the faceoff in our zone, then got picked and failed to make it to the point to disrupt the shot which found the back of the net. The Flames were 29% in the faceoff circle last night, not nearly good enough. I remember Russell preventing a goal as well on the wrap around when Ramo was out of position. Russell may not be the biggest guy but he makes up for it with good stick, positioning and toughness, imo.
  13. Think for a minute where we would be if Ramo had been picked up on waivers. A calculated risk would have gone horribly bad.
  14. Good luck xstrike, see you back soon!
  15. I agree with this as well. Lets make the next goalie really count. BT will be in a great position this spring, clean state, position wide open, he will find the best goalie available to move this team forward. Wonder who it will be?
  16. Top 10 Bryzgaloz Quotes; 10. “Too old? Too Skilled?” 9. “I love it. Sometimes hate it. A few weeks ago they broke my chest protector during the practice, and guys continue start hitting me in the same spot. Why so painful? I don’t want to be goalie now.'” 8. “Siberian Husky. She’s all white. Beautiful blue eyes. That’s basically blonde girl with blue eyes. Your dream, man. My husky, basically, she’s a hot girl, man.” 7. “You know, I have many faces … masks. In home, I have one face. Public, I have other face. Uh … ahhhh, on ice I have different face. Day off I have four face. With you I have fifth face.” 6. “When I signed here, people said, ‘Oh, you know where you’re going? You’re going to hell, you know? They hate … They’ve never had goalies, they go hard on goalies. (Philadelphia) is a miserable market for goalies. 5. “I think like, ‘And we have some problems here on the earth we worry about? Compared to like…nothing. Just be happy. Don’t worry be happy right now” 4. “Can I sit in the office and accept the calls? Like ‘1-800 … let me transfer you to a different department.” 3. “OK, they fire the puck from the blue line. Chief usually yelling ‘block the shot’ at the defensemen. They doesn’t have the goalie gear, but they have to block the shot. So who is more crazy, me or the defensemen? Who is more weird?” 2. “This is tiger and less than 5 like probably 500 species left on earth, yeah. China law, if you kill tiger like this, death penalty. Yeah. If you kill tiger and they find you, your dead, that’s it.” 1. “I’m very into the universe, you know like how was created, you know, like, what is it, you know? Solar system is so humongous big, right? But if you see like our solar system and our galaxy on the side, you know, like, we’re so small you can never see it. Our galaxy is like huge, but if you see the big picture our galaxy (is) like a small tiny-like dot in the universe. “
  17. I’m not adding a GT right now. I’m inclined to ride Romo and Hiller for the remainder of the season. If the playoffs should ever become mathematically unattainable then I’m riding Ortio to see what we got. In the offseason I’ll be inquiring about Bishop. TB needs to free up a few $$’s if they intend on keeping Stamkos and they seem to have a couple of cheaper options in net.
  18. What a bunch of BS. This dude needs to grow a pair……eyebrows that is. If I gotta look at a wall of numbers, then split hairs to fuel my agenda, then something's wrong. Watch the game boys, just watch the darn game and draw your own conclusions. Russell however may become a victim of the salary cap at seasons end due to the contracts the Flames are committed to.
  19. He has a 0.921 SA% in last 8 games with a winning record, he's getting the job done.
  20. I don't see the Flames waiving Ortio unless they're 100% certain he will clear. If the Flames don't start stringing some wins together soon then I could see Ortio getting plenty of starts in the later half of the season. Ortio may not be seeing game action right now but he is seeing and learning a lot in the mean time. Ortio is a Flame and I truly hope he can have a career here.
  21. Ramo and Hiller got us to the second round of playoffs last season, lets not kick them them both to the curb 17 games into this season. Right now this team needs goaltending, to play Ortio and maybe lose would make us a three time loser. Lets play the vets and try to salvage a season and maybe salvage some assets along the way.
  22. TD stretched the truth just a tad. If Lundqvist has a league leading 0.943 GAA how could Ramo’s 0.963 performance last night be average? Minor details, but we’ll take it.
