I've found they are complete opposites. Hiller is very much a square to the shooter kind of goalie, with a Swiss windmill as his glove hand. Ramo, I believe has a better reaction time, but tends to be the one to overcompensate when pushing off left to right. Some are super high on Ortio. I'd like to see him get a shot as part of the tandem for the year, however, I still don't know if he's quite ready yet. There are some games I think he's got traces of Kipper in him (he does train with Kip in the offseason), and others where he still looks like a complete rook.

I agree, HIller has been a great stop gap, but I fail to see how he's a part of this team within 2 years. His signing was mere positioning for the future to allow some of the kids to develop. Now that we see Gillies signed and in the system, and Ortio on a one way, I'd suspect Hiller is going to be the one shipped out, regardless of the fact that his contract is bigger than Ramo's. All of this still hinges on record and play of course. Realistically, if the Flames top 6 D can remain healthy, the 'tending duties should be much easier this season in comparison, and the D last year were already pretty damn good.

Well, it seems we got our wish. We are deep on D and we have quite the lineup outside the men's room for the last spots. As for the goaltenders, who would you say is going to be the Flames A/B and the Stockton A/B? Also, do the Flames bring up Ortio and how long till they trade Hiller/Ramo? Still nothing solidified. It'll be interesting to see what training camp brings.

Eh what? ********************************************************* I'm surprised the Flames never took a goalie in this draft. The goalie prospect pool is looking a little light these days. I sure hope next draft they take one in the third or 4th round. Maybe with the conditional 4th we acquired from NSH for Max Power.

OP updated. Theissen is currently a UFA. Things looking very promising for both Gilles and McDonald.

Getting to the 2nd round playoffs in year 2 of a rebuild, AND we get the 15th overall pick? Barring the loss of a potential Stanley Cup....in the words of Charlie Sheen....."Winning!"

Great idea. If you are up for maintaining it, this would be quite the insightful addition to these boards. Why not inspect the work of the GM's hands going forward? Feaster had his many blunders, and his praises. He's one of the most controversial GM's the Flames have had to date and many discussions and arguments have sprouted from his tenure. It'll be good to see the progression of Treliving with clearer eyes. +1 from me.

The cap being kept at a minimum was all for good intention and reason. I'm sure we'll see some bump in pay, but we'll also expect to see a few players being shipped in and out too. It's all positioning for the benefit of the rebuild, and for the best development of our young players/prospects.
