  1. The hint of attitude and swagger is what we need and he is 18!! My impression was a slight cockiness but happy with that as well. Wish him every success. I also like how upfront he said in a previous interview how he thought he would end up back in Kamploops this season and still had stuff to work on to make the jump to pros. To me that is someone who knows his game and where he needsto be at.
  2. Being the UK I have not the local knowledge to discuss the pros and cons of individual draft picks. So do not comment. But i find the thread informative and appreciate what Crzydrvr does each year.
  3. We didn't gift Fox. He was never going to sign here. Trying to lay the blame for that on Treliving is just daft. Similar to that other D we lost out of college to NYR but he didn't pan out so we are not blaming anyone. It's only because Fox is looking like he is going to be a legit 1st liner that people are complaining that we lost him. Personanly I am glad we got rid of Hamilton. I think we got the best player in the deal with Lindholm.
  4. Yeah but if we had taken him you know his hip injury would come back 😛
  5. Gio - your organisation shows no class if you ship Gio out. A Captain is more than just his on ice presence. In today's world he is an ambasador between the community and club and if you think Gio is going to be moved by the Flames think again. It's not going to happen. Now I also think Gio is a realist. He will know in himself he has not had his best season. I can see him pass the C on to someone else but I actually do not think there is a suitable replacement. Some will say Tkchuk but I would disagree i don't think he needs the C as it would take away from his style of game. And outside of Matty who has the cahunas to take this club out of country club mentality? Nearest for me is Anderson maybe Dube in the futrure but heere is no one on this club that screams make me your Captain. Oh and as much as I have loved watching JH I think it is time to ship him out to the East if we can get a decent return for him which in times of a flat is going to be real hard as his contract looks pretty decent.
  6. I've caught a couple of Montreal games and he looks a lot better than I remember in a Falmes uniform.
  7. Perhaps that guy in Montreal called Kulak could fill a spot. 😜
  8. Good riddance. Glad to see them out of the playoffs we didn't need the BoA BS to side track us with Francis saucing up the Chucky angle.
  9. What an overreaction by Burke. Something that happens once in a blue moon and suddenly the league are looking at mandating a 3rd staffer to be employed by clubs. A feel good story that the league have got lots of good free press out of and they want to ensure it never happens again. Okay for the playoffs, fine allow clubs to have a black ace as a 3rd back up but lets not go over the top on this. Burke is a prat.
  10. Think a lot of you are looking too short term. Expansion draft coming. Hardly want to trade for some players to lose them later especially if we are not contenders. Mind you on current play have we got enough forwards we want to protect!
  11. I signed up the the Athletic last week. Great hockey coverage worth the expense. Mind only annoyance is as my IP is UK based it assumes I am interested in kissball first and always lists those over paid prima donna leagues at the top instead of hockey.
  12. Good to see them get it done early and out of the way. Really pleased to see them put the faith in him.
  13. Why would they shut their fans forum down? Not very fan friendly!! Glad to see you guys got another forum going.
  14. Schnieder probably ends up in the ECHL. Gillies I think is probably gone from the Flames organisation.
  15. Well Lucic is a Flame now. So welcome and good luck!! BoA is going to be so hyped this year.
  16. Amazing that our worrygoing into the playoffs was goaltending. I guess that as this thread fell so far down that everyone is content with Smitty's performances? I just hope he isn't tired out with all the work we have given him.
  17. Haha I think there are a lot of 50ish people around! Was in Alberta for 89. I was a young 25 year old soldier. Paid lots to a tout for game 2 of SCF. Great times. 2004 I was in UK swearing at the TV as we lost game 7. Had to go for a very long walk afterwards to calm down.
  18. Don't want ot be a debbie downer but the West is wide wide open. Any of the teams can beat each other. League is really close nowadays and you only have to look back to 89 to see how close a 1st round series can be! However over 7 games I like our chances especially in our division. Whoever comes out of the central is going to be a hard matchup. I want to see us cement runner up in the league so when TBL get knocked out in the second round we get home ice throughout!!
  19. Hmmm I am not necessarily a Smith fan this season but I will challenge that statement Lost 0-3 - Yes you are correct Won 3-1 - Nope Won 5-1 - Nope Lost 2-1 - Nope again Lost 0-2 - Yes you make it 40% Now I know that is a small sample size. But your statement is just plain silly and how in the hell is it Smiths fault if the team in front of him do not score? In both of those games when we did not score he kept the team in the game. Earlier in the season the team probably had to score 4 to win a game wth him in net but not in the last 2-3 months. And playing the puck? Well the team must be on diplomatic orders to say publically his puck playing helps them! As every interview I've seen on the subject suggests the D like him playing the puck and the coach does too. Now I think I believe the players rather than the fans. As fans he might scare the crap out of us when he does play the puck but we know what you get with him. Last night his puck playing ability sprang JH for an opportunity on goal alone. Did that get applauded? The problem with a puck playing goalie is every time there is a mistake or he gives it straight back to their winger it stands out like a sore thumb. If they were avaialble I wonder if the stats would show that Brodie or Hanifan have more giveaways than Smith in our zone that lead to goals? Rittich .. Smith The Stats would suggest Smith in the last 2 months Smith has been the better goalie. Now of course you could argue he might have got easy starts I do not have the time to delve that far in. I would just like us to get off Smitty's back and start supporting him rather than moaning about him everytime he does something wrong but giving Rittich a free ride every time he mucks up. I'm not having a personal go at you Horseman1, it was just your post that set me off on a rant that has been has been brewing for a while. And yes I know I am defending Smith in this post but I would still like to see someone else with Rittich next season! It would be better for my blood pressure!! Go Flames Go!
  20. Thank you Carty for the post & Pyromancer for the detective work. I was only thinking the other day that FF52 had not posted for a while and missed his inputs. Sad news and a loss to our board. Larry FF52 RIP
  21. Being here in the UK its a bit hard with prospects so I leave it to others. But as an observation This guy is 20 in a couple og months and on a stacked PA Raiders team that is miles better than any other team in the Dub.
  22. interesting take from the article Snowbear....
  23. Best goalie in the AHL right now is Schneider. So surely you bring him up first.
  24. 4 seasons I think, but I take your point. IMHO he did have the pulse of the team and made the right decision at the deadline.
