I think it was a novelty that lost its appeal as the season progressed. Playing the same team 9/10 times got old pretty quickly. I think the league will move back to the more traditional format as soon as they can. Golden Knights Oilers Flames Canucks Kings Ducks Sharks Kraken That is a weak division.

Known versus an unknown. You cannot bank on getting Bedard. Firstly I do not think that the Flames as an organsiation would condone a tanking strategy and we are not that bad a team to be bottom dwellers. We seem to be a perpetual middling team. Secondly you have no guarantee that you end up with that pick due to the lottery so I think that is a very dangerous strategy. However that said I am not convinced that Eichel is the saviour this team needs. Comes across to me as too self serving and not a team player. But I can understand the interest in him. Not one of our players in untouchable as far as I am concerned. The farm looks a bit bare at the moment and we may have to (should) wait on Zary and PelItier. I do not think Phillips will get a fair look. Sutter will not be able to overlook his size. We are pretty small as it is, or play small and I am not sure we can take on another smaller player to play in the top 6. Hope Phillips proves me wrong - the guy deserves ever success he can get.

Sens series did us in the most. We should not have dropped 6 games to them. Loser points was also significant. Mtl had 11 to our 3. Small margins which might have just papered over the cracks.

Did we really invest a ton of time & $ into Fox? And for us to be more desirable to play for? How would you do this if you were GM? A lot of people on here want to abandon a lifelong Flame and captain and trade him for peanuts. That sort of treatment would really be helpful in making us more desirable to play for.

JH sells shirts, and keeps a good chunk of the fan base engaged and excited. Not many businesses would sell/trade away one of their best marketing opportunities. The fan base would have been apoloetic if they had traded him after his 99 point season.

Thanks for your input. I tend to stay out of prospect and draft threads because being in the UK stats is all I really have to go on. I do follow the WHL scores and tables and my concern that you often to see a goalie highly touted but he is on a team that makes his stats look so much better. So yeah chicken and egg stuff. Wolf included in that by the way. Seen it too many times before. Always cautious of taking a goalie too early. Now who was that Kid we took out of Brandon.......

Two things Tkachuk has shown this season that he is not the next natrual Captain choice imo. I would trade him to the East.

Of course we will win the draft lottery this year as there are no clear franchise players. We will then proceed to draft a Griffin Reinhart, Sam Bennett or Trevor Kidd and look back at the stud Dman that weas drafted 3 places later. Glass is way past half empty at the moment with this team and ownership. 😞

My biggest hate about the NHL is the different way regualr season is called compared to the Playoffs. One rule book - be consistent in its use for every game. With the current offciating mindset it is like a GM needs to have to completely different teams for regular and playoff games

Gilmour book arrived this morning. Already finished it! Some good anecdotes of pranks and stunts pulled on teamates. But overall I never felt I really got to know the real Doug Gilmour sort of kept everything at arms length. The accusations that saw him to come to Calgary were glossed over and I was hoping to get a feel of how he dealt with that on a personal level but I guess he jsut wanted to forget it and I can't blame him for that. Overall an enjoyable easy read.

You can keep Julian, Babcock, Gallant and some others. Not keen on Bourdreau but I can see the sense in the hire. i would like to get Green offf the Canucks and rub more salt into their wounds 😄
