  1. Not sure about parity-linked. It's been quite a few years now that I always want the Flames to have a heavy schedule to start. Contrast that to Florida who always have been behind in GP in years passed have always struggled getting off of the ground. My own opinion is teams have to start playing a lot of games to sync back into the season. 2-3 games a week doesn't cut it. When every team has that 4 games in 6 nights thing like we just had, seems to be when they start coming out of the summer hibernation. Time to stop thinking, time to get going. Sorry to jack an Oilers thread, but hang on...no I'm not. Is anyone noticing the Panthers have the best coach in the league now? What a difference. The Florida Blackhawks. I'm going to Vegas while the night is young. lol
  2. I don't know why, but every year it seems it takes about 15 games before the men start separating from the boys. The thing with the Oilers has always been when frustration starts, they're unable to overcome it. Smith and Neal are not the vets to help with that. Time will tell I guess. Could be my Flames glasses.
  3. 8 goals on the PP, the rest is an illusion.
  4. Looks like Neal's +/- will soon surpass his goals. 11 goals...-9.
  5. I take virtually zero stock in the 2 talking heads. If everyone says that it's black these to always say it's white. Virtually every respectable talking head agreed with the suspension. You just can't flying punch a guy in the face. Had Lucic grabbed him first, it would be a different story. Don't get me wrong, I'll take that suspension every time. If Josh Anderson did this to Mangiapane, what would everyone be saying? Gotta put it in perspective. You can't just throw a lunging punch to a guys face when his hands are down. But as I mentioned before, can these kids not recognize who is on the ice when they get all 10' tall and bulletproof? And that being said, I actually wanted us to take a flier on Sherwood. lol Undrafted. Good size RW with skill that plays an antagonizing game. Of course he was running around hitting everything that moves vs us. It's what he has to do to be successful. Junkowski for Sherwood, lol.
  6. I'm fine with it. It was a sucker punch. If he jabbed him in the face would prolly be okay. But he brought that punch from way back.
  7. I also wonder if he can be a workhorse. He reminds me of my fave goalie, Rinne. 3rd last pick in 04. 11 year vet as a starter. Happy Birthday Pekka, 37 today. And going strong. Boy when you're really good fundamentally, like Rinne and Rittich, I think that's a long shelf life. But boy, if this is Rittich every day, which I think it is, he's going to get paid after next year. Wait and see.
  8. My MVP for October. David Rittich. He's not only really good, he's fun. A goalie with a personality. Could this be a trend? He has me convinced that you can spot a good goalie and it's not, "goalies are a mystery". He had the fundamentals down pat when he got here. The rest is just fine tuning. When you're always where you're supposed to be to make the save, you aren't going to get lit up very often. And unlike Smith, it's not like riding a rollercoaster.
  9. He should worry more about his assignment more than everyone else's. Glad he's gone. He's one hot mess.
  10. I was a little disappointed by the Panthers. I was thinking 7-zip as the Oilers get a reality check. Good enough, I guess. McDavid-Draisaitl didn't seem to worry them at all. No panic.
  11. I'm seeing Fla does not give a crap about the name on the back of the jersey. Under Quenneville, this should be some team.
  12. Watch the 3rd goal. Watch his reaction. Look familiar?
  13. The Panther's put the run on Smith to start the 2nd. 3 goals in 1:16 I think it was. The Panthers are making the real Oilers stand up. 3-0 Pants after 2. They haven't lost in regs in 6. Good luck Edmonchuk. This is what a good team looks like.
  14. Lindholm, for sure. D brings some muscle. If needed. Be fast.
  15. Again, I've been saying this since Tkachuk joined us, The OHL line. Tkachuk-Mony-Bennett. We're 2/3rds ways there. Let Mangiapane be a 1st liner, give him a shot. He was a sniper. Can't prove it in the bottom 6. Take it from Pittsburgh, put guys in positions to succeed, not fill a 4th line gap.
  16. Talbot proved he's an NHL goalie. He should keep on proving it. He has his skeptics Whatevs. .
  17. He stole that win imho. He proved he deserves a chance. No qualms with Rittich.
  18. That stop in the 3rd with time a-whittlin' down was jaw-dropping.
  19. Well our backup was amazing last night. Fun little jab at those that didn't want to give him a chance.
  20. Both being past goalies Carty, I've been raving on his fundies since streaming A games. His puck projectory, angles, protect the net are as good as anyone in the league, and he's humble, mellow, yet emotional. Ladies and gentleman, this is a really good Blockchaining goalie, is all that I have to say. Track down his goalie coach in the Czech, and hire him. The foundation is key imho, and Rittich's had it since he joined us. We're nothing without him.
  21. The transition this summer to Holland/Tippett is a whole new era. Fans don't like his methods, but most players under Tippett will say he's the best coach they've ever had. This obviously ties together with Neil and how Tippett goes about his business. He's an excellent coach. Lull them to sleep for 50 minutes, "okay stars, go be stars". I'd say he's a dangerous coach, for sure. He'll coach some wins.
  22. Rittich has passed every test, now Zagidulin is starting to show he could too. Too early to think we may have antidotes for our decade long goaltending virus. lol
  23. I agree. And BT has stated it's Rittich's net. Last year with Smith there, Smith wanted every start, and Rittich would defer to Smith. This year they've outright told Rittich, "it's your time".
  24. I think we should work horse Rittich. It's his next step. Talbot's his backup. Rittich's ready. I've been drooling over his fundies since his A days. He can be a Vezina candidate, imho.
