  1. It's funny there hasn't been much word on other candidates for the Jets. This was their guy. There's at least 5 names floating around Detroit. Friedman was on one web blog or other saying he called 1 of Detroit's candidates and dude wouldn't talk to him, saying he wouldn't get the job if he talks. Terrified of Stevie's code of silence.lol There are solid candidates out there, and Chevy's very well-respected in the hockey community. I'm sure he'll come up with a solid Plan B. But it is quite odd that this was like an "all-in" thing with no discussion of other potential candidates. It's kinda weird. I'd have to assume Trotz turned down an extremely lucrative offer. Plus a lifetime supply of beer.lol
  2. There's a huge human factor. Do we really want cameras and AI reffing? I'd rather deal with some mistakes and refs know the tenor of each player. It's a tradeoff maybe. Sometimes a light penalty is due to the player. It's not an easy gig. Like players, they're not robots. They have to read the tenor of the game and who the Hash Rate are. Back to human factor...
  3. It's the norm in the NHL. Many Flames fans feel so hard done by and scream conspiracy.lol The other 31 teams feel the same way. Is what it is. If you don't wanna feel raped by officiating and "game mgmt" and the like, don't put yourself in that position. If you do, oh well. Come-see come-saw. Everyone knows the potential. This isn't new.
  4. Not Quite. Kadri came on too early and had possession of the puck 20' from where the changing player was. It's a valid gripe. But it's still a whole bunch of whatever, this is the NHL. You'd have to be a child to think that it's ever fair. I want the refs to be "hands off" and they pretty much were. Now it's a question of how TBay can play desperate hockey in the thin air of Denver.
  5. Informed the Jets he wants to test FA in 2024. I'd assume that means, "let's trade this frigging guy" to Chevy.
  6. True. They were doing okay until Buff and Trouba pulled the pin. Now they have big trouble on D, they couldn't make up for those losses. Their D is still quite a mess. It'll be interesting if Trotz gets in there and can sort out their fairly bad looking D roster.
  7. I narrowly escaped posting this by about 10 seconds.lol I agree, I was surprised also. Has Maurice coached a high-end O before? He's all about D and structure to me. Not saying Fla can't use some of that, but they're not really built that way.
  8. Problem being if he's not injured you can't use LTIR. I suppose the A for conditioning but even that's dicey if he's at camp. There is medical staff so it's difficult to believe his claims that he hid his injury. It would be a bad look for both him and team.
  9. Kucherov expected to play begs the question...Mr. Toews, did you just elevate the determination of the best player on the planet? He got right up and went after Toews. This is a dangerous game to play. If a player can single-handedly take this series, it's him. All of his injury woes are the only thing keeping him from McDavid's pts titles. Don't poke the giant. The rest of the team points when he's high-octane.
  10. The media being the media yet again. Making a story out of everything whether it's real or imagined. I have a lot of respect for LeBrun but these guys also have to make up airspace. It's the ol' "if you haven't heard a rumour by noon, start one". Nothing to do but wait and see...3 more weeks of the banter only getting louder.
  11. If he has another strong start I think we have to get him some reps in the NHL. My concern is that he can plateau in the AHL and we should keep him pushing. I guess we'll see his readiness at camp. But he's done everything so far, why stop him? Vasilevskiy was 20-21 getting NHL looks and took over. Not saying that's Wolf, I just don't like the potential to stagnate him, rather than drive him harder. We all know goalies are weird. Gilroy, California.lol Who knew that's where you find goalies? Garlic Capital of the World.
  12. Not a concern boss. Thanks for all of the fun you bring! pikey, you're running out of real estate.;) If Kucherov is out, that could be a huge gamechanger.
  13. Which is why I think Detroit should jump on it, if BT's backed into a corner. They can get an asset and a player capable of coming back. He doesn't have to be a top 2C, Detroit has time. He looks good in red.lol
  14. It's a fair assessment, but only insofar as assessing any player in the atrocity that is the 'Yotes. Keller and Chychrun, same draft, still the only decent players they have. I'm bias on Chychrun as he played for the Sarnia Sting. I can speak to his character, which to this day was a very close 2nd to Stamkos. Also, it's a pretty big shift to have him paired with Tanev/Andersson vs AHL-quality. We won't get him regardless, we just don't have the assets to spare.
  15. I'd actually like that! I think Mony could end up prospering in that situation. I doubt he becomes a tdl asset as some are implying, but he needs a new place to try to rejuvenate his career. I think Detroit would be perfect. I think most Flames fans have pretty much turned on him.
  16. This is where I say that proposal falls flat. So basically Hanifin + Valimaki for Chychrun AND they take a $6.375 cap dump? It's not plausible. Guess how they got Chychrun...by taking Datsyuk's 1 yr @ $7mil for Detroit's 1st rd pick (16oa). They can do much better and likely will. If not, why not just keep him?
  17. Monahan is a cap dump, which means he alone + prolly a 2023 2nd to dump cap. Not sure why he's being used as an asset but called a cap dump. You have to pay teams to take a cap dump.
  18. Chicago saying report of hiring Huska is inaccurate, still interviewing candidates. Peter DeBoer sounds on the verge of being named Dallas Stars head coach. That's a solid hire.
  19. Van with promises of Top 6 opportunity. This should be fun to watch.
  20. Nope. Sometimes Vasilevsky has to feel threatened to go god level it would seem. But damn, if Kucherov is out than this could be over.
  21. Same. But also with Wolf's progression.
  22. Happy for him, Hope he does well. The real question is what are we going to do about Wolf? We love prospects exceeding expectations, but are we looking at a traffic jam? How do you balance 3 goalies and you don't want to get rid of any of them? Vladar has exceeded what we paid. Do we turn it into profit in a trade? So many questions. Are we just putting Wolf on the shelf in the A? It's a nice problem to have, but I think it's decision time. Wolf has hit every achievement he can. We have to keep him moving forward imo. Else he stagnates due to availability of an NHL spot. Thoughts?
  23. I'm in total agreement. We, in all likelihood, wouldn't win a Tkachuk trade. His age and style are a huge factor. I'd have considered it for Thomas and a decent pick last year while Army was negotiating the cap, but that window, if it ever existed, is slammed shut. Imagine a world where we took Thomas instead of Valimaki. Ahhh the joys of hindsight. We'd be baaaadasss.lol Thomas plays a hard, hard, honest game. Always liked him and I can't say that about many ex-Knights, including Tkachuk.
  24. I can see what people get aggravated by with some of his play, but he's not replaceable. His style of play definitely doesn't grow on trees and it's needed.
