  1. Some call it stalking, I call it love.lol
  2. His skating is a little slower. He was a little behind on the play.
  3. I think that it was the cool name.lol
  4. Probably a good time to point out, "Gaudreau's wife doesn't have anyone here". There is literally a show called "Hockey Wives". They'll do tonnnns of charity work. Tons. She won't be unbusy.lol I'll go on record to say, "if he doesn't sign here, wow, are you ever dumb". First off. Where are you going, nicer than Calgary? I've been to the US East Coast. Yeah whatever. 2nd, what do you think about the massive weight of expectation awaiting you there? He's signing with us, I just won't understand if he doesn't. The, "closer to home" thing is old. Go home, miss playoffs. Now how welcomed do you feel?
  5. Think of the picks.lol Could put you in a higher bracket for lottery contention.
  6. Everyone has a comparable until, god willing and the creek don't rise, you become the comparison. It's never really accurate.
  7. Age, I think. RIP Willie. You were awesome. May you be be playing the grandest pipe organ you've ever dreamed.
  8. I'd start balking at $10x8. Anything over will quickly be too much. If it hits $19 between him and Tkachuk, I'd say we're overpaying. @sak22 has brought this up a number of times, and sak is right, it's been a volatile league for 3 years due to coronavirus. It really has. Last year's mess alone kicked A LOT of players into career highs. Not just Flames players. Don't expect it again in a normal season. When every team is going without shutdown and lost time, don't expect a repeat season by anyone. Hopefully the NHL is normal again. JG at much over 10, I'd probably say no and use my money elsewhere. That's my last leverage is cash, can't let it be exploited. There's gotta be a tipping point.
  9. People are seriously reaching with this one.
  10. And if they're playing it safe, why not take McConnell-Barker? I don't understand. Did they not scout him? He's been through great programs and is about as sound as a safe C pick as you can get. Went 97oa to NYR. McKenzie's compendium of scouts had him at 58oa. Because they actually seem to know what they're doing sometimes.
  11. I'd love to have seen their priority list and ridicule it to death...
  12. My expectations were met. They were extremely low, so they were met.
  13. It's kind of exciting to think how completely different our team may look, or not much different at all. There are options on the table 6 ways from Sunday. We can get way too caught up in JG/Tkachuk. At the end of the day, though significant, it's not end of the world doom and gloom. If JG needs $10+ over 8 I'd seriously consider the repercussions of that personally. There are always a lot more ways to skin a cat, as they say.
  14. So who won the draft in your opinion? I'll go with Buffalo. When your Director of Scouting literally cried at the post-draft interview, you just know they let them do their jobs like you're supposed to. Gives the feeling Adams is a very good GM. MTL got a lot of accolades, but I'm not buying it. I think Slafkovsky got the hype-train just for the sake of being alternative. He won't be in the NHL particularly soon. And I'm not a Dach fan. Just not feeling it. Then NJ should have flipped their pick for a solid NHL dman right now, if that option was there. Arizona's a mess, so whatever. Then Seattle got the massive win. Now they have Beniers and were literally gifted the best player in the draft in Wright down the middle. I had hoped Ottawa would flip their pick, it's time. To get DeBrincat is a stellar flip. Chicago is a disaster. My honourable mentions are Minny, and of course, Detroit is sneaky good at drafting. They really target and do their own thing. Just filling that pipeline up, it's gotta be the league's best.
  15. When things get stagnated, you can always follow the Red Wings.lol It's kinda fun to watch a rebuild, plus it becomes clearly evident that they don't draft by anyone's consensus but their own. The way it's supposed to be. They were panned for drafting Seider so high. Well, guess who has a 1RD with 2 more seasons on an ELC... A little bit of moaning about a 3rd rder to get ahead of Husso's ufa rights. Yzerman: There are more teams that need goalies than there are goalies, so we used a pick to get ahead of it. Dude just breathes hockey. So if you don't like them but like to watch a team rebuild, it's wildly entertaining to follow. Especially when the whiskey turns to tears. It's a fun distraction. 9 picks even after trading their 3rd to the Blues. And still the potential for 2 rookies to chase the Calder this year: Edvinsson(LD)/Berggren(C/W). I think Berggren will be the favourite. Came to NA last year. Very slow start in the A, then went hot butter, finishing at 21-43-64pts in 70 games. 2018 2nd rd pick. Have I convinced you yet?lol They should have everything in their pipeline now, have a look. You can say they should have taken Wallstedt over Cossa, but their scouting is god-level, so there were reasons, without question. They have a leg up in Russia/Sweden due to their past stars from there. Players want to play for them. I dream of a Wings vs Flames Cup final.
  16. Things are never as bad as they seem. As sak said, really couldn't expect much of anything from the draft with picks at 59, 155 & 219.
  17. Guessing the last is his mom. Mom always gets the biggest and longest hug. Best line I heard was, Leafs finally escaped the first round, too bad it was at the draft.
  18. Tidy work getting Ville Husso for a 3rd. Ned and Husso's not a bad tandem.
  19. I thought Yzerman was the highlight of the night. Makes his pick in 3 seconds, talking heads are speechless, then this gem: Emily Kaplan: So where are you with the Red Wings in your rebuild? Stevie Y: Well, this is my 3rd year as GM so I'd say 3 years in. lol I love that. The Wings are using the SEL like a farm team. Damn. They won't have anyone to play for Grand Rapids.
  20. Welcome to Speculation Central. Where you can fantasize your days away. None of it is really true, but we can speculate and pretend it could be...
  21. Fair. He's a 3rd pair. I don't want $4-4.5per on 3rd pair. So we reach the same conclusion.
  22. That's dated, from when we signed him. But it is noteworthy that Sutter scratched him a lot to start the season. "My way or the highway", I'd guess. He was still 5th toi with us 5x5. He's a 3rd pair at best, if you can keep him focused. If you can't, he's an adventure. He's a $3mil, maybe $3.5mil per guy, tops. Someone will go beyond that and I wish them and him the best.
  23. It's valid. What else enters in is legacy. Every player wants to be THAT guy, with THAT team, that made Satoshi Nakamoto happen. It puts you in Sakic and Yzerman conversations. They never left for more $$$ when things were looking rough. Stamkos is in that conversation. Tavares isn't. Do you you want to be remembered as a leader of one team? It's not like there isn't enough money for your grandkids to live comfortably or market value is out of whack. If you want to maximize your value, you have to expect that your legacy will decrease. There is a whole world of things for him to consider. I'm betting that he re-signs still. I just can't see why he wouldn't. "honey, I'm wide open to what you wanna do after, we'll only be 37". Calgary isn't a Satoshi Nakamotohole, by any stretch of the imagination.
  24. Tkachuk-Dvorak-Marner yes. Dvorak was always the D-first center that would trail in and find the soft spots in the slot, like Lindholm does. I'm quite taken aback by Dvorak's lack of success. I had to watch those annoying ****s in jr too often. I've prolly never come to terms with liking Tkachuk.lol Always thought Dvorak would be a solid 2C. Just hasn't found his way though. Constantly getting injured if I remember correctly. Will Christian Kyrou be there for us in rd 2? If so, that's likely my choice. RSD. I'd be interested in Janni Nyman too, but I guess we'll see what's there. edit Bryce McConnell-Barker would be a good pick too. He can keep chasing Kerins.lol
  25. If someone else signs him for 10.5 x 7, they better hope beyond hope that they don't get the constantly whining version. There has only been 1 year of that, and likely because his coach read him the riot act about that stuff. There's no saying he won't get targeted and revert back. Said team will need some quality face-punchers.
