  1. The fact they're under contract for multiple years and don't really have a say in the matter 😎 I get you thinking ..I really do.. but age isn it always a factor .. Anderson strikes me as a guy who keeps getting better and should still be good well Into his 30s.. just because he's gonna be 28 in a few years doesn't automatically make him a move candidate .. I agree nobody is untouchable, but he's not even on my radar as a move candidate.. This pipe dream that's been floated on social media about cale makar coming home in 2027 won't go away.. but he'll be 28.. are we gonna say no if he actually does come knocking ?
  2. Didn't know where else to put this ...but I find this funny...and not so much here but all over social media .. I get we all want wolf to progress.. but too many think the future is now .. Vladar had had numerous great games for us.. but he has one dud and people want him moved for a bag of pucks or given the old yeller treatment .. and he still doesnt have a ton of NHL experience... Wolf has yet to have a wow game at this level (and to be clear I believe he will at some point ) but people hand him every excuse in the world .. but he's just not ready for the future to be now Looking more and more like Markstrom is eventually going to get moved , I'd be perfectly ok and even recommend we give the net to Vladar, have Wolf as a backup and give enough room to grow into and take the job.. To me , regardless of where we are at, at some point wolf needs to "steal" a game before I start to think he's fully ready for this level
  3. Ya..do we claim him.to appease the holders of pitchforks when he didn't pan out here ...or just accept that Sutter was right and he's the next Austin Czarnik? My guy says we claim.him just to write the chapter ..to be fair we did offer him a 2 year contract..but one year was 2 way..he got a 2 yr one way deal in Washington
  4. Yep.. they have until before game time to take him off the IR... But it makes for good speculation fodder...
  5. I know it's been been to death but tanking is a crapshoot ... You can win the lottery and end up up with Yakupov.. or be totally brutal and lose out on McDavid ..so much is out of a teams control.. but building the right culture is controllable.. Players like Getzlaf and others were mid to late round picks .. it comes down to drafting and scouting .. The very fact they even are entertaining the idea of moving Markstrom shows the mentality has shifted away from the one that saw us hold an Iggy for way too long.. BT likey would have given Lindholm the extra mill or whatever it is he wanted to get him to stay here .. Conroy values the desire to be here over the paycheck .. Culture shift... He has the right idea
  6. Good article ..sums up what we all figured ..no tank happening , retool.on the fly. Make sense the bigger deals he wants a player that plays now ...a prospect or 2 and futures ...
  7. Ryan Miller who was only a rental got a haul.. Luongo to Vancouver ... Roy to Colorado... All were substantial returns..there's been a few more .. We're taking a guy who had one down year in three. Is playing Vezina quality in this one too .. again it's up to those teams to comvince us to part with him.. either way,he leaves for a haul or we keep him, we win.. Schneider also got a top 5 pick in a deep draft .nj doesn't have that
  8. My take is nobody is ever off the table ..the very fact we are having markstrom conversations shows that.. it comes down to how bad does a team want or need what you have .. if it's not uncomfortable, it's likely an underpay.. they're getting over 2 years of control for a difference maker goaltender .. you're not getting that for a pick and a B prospect ..or a 4th liner .. Trading markstrom should be a guarantee that wolf is up next year ..we don't need Vanacek..he can platoon with Vladar..but if it had to happen then vladar has to go
  9. And that's exactly it.. they don't. Blow us away or move on..that is their position . They are perfectly resdy and content to have him here or at least the next 2 years
  10. I don't think that at all... Tanev hes got his offers..he's simply trying to drive up the price .. I know people are concerned he keeps playing but that to me only drives it harder ..someone is gonna blink and panic every time he blocks a shot or goes up the the tunnel.. Hanifin.. it's all on him..I suspect his "deadline" is the end of the roadtrip.. come home and sign the deal or he already has a handful of offers on speed dial.. I suspect Tampa is on that list now and if he'd pulled the trigger a week ago they wouldn't be in play to drive it up even more
  11. I would think they're not reluctant to do it ..it just has to make sense .. they've never been shy to buy out a player and that's probabaly been way higher $ overall.. last time they retained was David Rittich to Toronto .. but they only have 3 spots and this would tie one up for 2 more years .. I'd suspect the return and the retain go hand in hand .. NJ wants us to retain the return just went up.. id be wanting a significant roster player on top of the pick and prospects.. at the very least a Dawson Mercer or similar And also ..Calgary is in the driver's seat on this one.. they're not actively trying to move him.. but they're open if the offer is right.. there's no deadline, so meet our price or no deal
  12. I think Conroy is doing it right . I'm on record as saying I wouldn't trade him at all , but hes right .. if you want to blow me away with an offer I'll listen to anything.. This would be different if they were trying to move him.. or wanted to unload him.. I'd agree that if a Team wants him be prepared to pay.. from what Freidman stated it never got past the return phase ..I suspect Connie wants a significant roster player in the deal I'd be against any conditions , as historically , trades for star goalies at the deadline have blown up in the teams face(Ryan Miller for example in st Louis ) ..mainly because a goalie needs time to have chemistry with the team and the D .. so to have conditions based on the playoff results I think is too much of a gamble
  13. So just checking.. Weegar with 2 goals today. and leading all NHL dmen in goals on the season... What the over / under on the time to the first post saying we need to trade him ? 😁
  14. I can see there being some .. especially on the first 5 years or so ..he is giving up UFA and somebody will overpay for him... So I'm ok with that.. what I don't want is too many bonuses that make him un-buy-out-able
  15. Agreed..but ya never know... He could be like Johnny..wants to play in the us and be out of the spotlight..who knows .. But the point was in reference to someone asking how hard it is to get back back the potential of what you're giving up..young for older etc.. To be honest ..personally I think he's signing.. probabaly just ironing out details , Bonuses clauses etc.. you don't play a trade chip over 25 min in back to back games and risk Injury just to showcase .. I think he's made up his mind and bought in..he's been a beast in all zones since ASB
  16. Totally..but a player like Hanfin might make them willing to move him
  17. I'm more saying think back to the goalie carousel we went thru .. finding the guy isn't easy . Think Carter Hart (except the sleazeball part).. bursts on the scene .. flyers go all in and he crumbles under the pressure... He wasn't ready .. I think Wolf is the future ..but he isn't ready.. he's ready to be up here..be the backup and be given every opportunity to take Markys job... But that's how you make them grow .. Then on the flipside ..what can you reasonably except to get for him.. and to be serious ..he's playing at a top 3 veZina caliber level.. even tho his regular numbers are not what you look at..his underlying numbers say it's so... We were once on the verge of getting Ben bishop ..for a top 10 pick... Not bad ... but Tampa also had vasikevsky ready to be the man.. Who needs Marky most right now .. NJ? Are they gonna give us Hughes ? .. or likely late first and a B prospect .. is Marky gonna agree to leave this team for a tire fire like Columbus, cuz they might give up enough to make us listen .. I just feel you have a guy that wants to be here ..he's not stupid ..he sees what we're doing.. unlikely to win a cup in the last 2 years of his deal..but he want to be here.. that breeds leadership.. that rubs off on the kids .. he's effectively our biggest interval retooling chip just by being here
  18. Couldn't remember his name at the time ... David Jiricek .. can't seem to get in the lineup but tons of upside and only 20
  19. Columbia has that kid that wants out now ...
  20. When you have a stud goaltender ..you keep him until someone takes his job. He said in the interview he's not asking to be traded ..so he's happy here .. I get everybody is hungry to get Wolf in there but fact is until he's able to steal markys job he ain't ready . I 💯 agree he should be the permanent backup asap and no later than the start of next season tho . Everyone talks about what a bust Trevor kdd was ..truth is we ruined him..we rushed him into full time starting (there were other factors ..mostly the fault of Pierre Page but thats an article in itself ) Fact is ... A stud goalie allows your kids to develop by hiding mistakes .. bailing out erors they are going to make To me.,unless a team is offering their top line center a first and an A prospect ...he stays
  21. I think you mistook... I didnt mean he HAS to waive .. you asked how it's possible, I mean it's like a normal trade IF he agrees.. being in the program doesn't preclude a trade being allowed to happen .same as being on IR..
  22. It comes in waves... The oilers are a hard no ..always will be .. Hate the Canucks but they don't have as many hateable players as they used to...I could pull for them over the oilers ..and god forbid they make the finals against the Leafs I'd have to go Vancouver . My worst nightmare is an oilers Leafs final.. I have so many oilers and cancuck fans friends I tell myself I could bear it by focussing on being happy for them .. while still hating the team . Lol
  23. He would just have to agree to the trade...would not change his being in the program at all and the flames would just have to treat him as such
  24. Ahh ok my bad ..that's what I get for watching highlights on my little phone screen lol
  25. He can be traded.. just like an ltir player can..he just brings his designation with him
