Agreed... He has put up some pretty good numbers, but there are still good reasons to question if he has what it takes to be a starter... There is too much risk involved to gamble the assets it would take to get him...

Happy 65th to one of my all time favorite Flames...

A former Flame once explained to me that McDonald came off the ice in a game and told everyone on the bench that a certain enforcer from the Wings was seriously coked up. "Stay away from him", he warned. Lanny then nailed said enforcer with a hard check. Apparently, he skated after Lanny around and around the ice to fight him, but he couldn't catch up. Hilarious!

.930 SV% over 13 games when Murray started out with the Pens 2 seasons ago... .923 SV% over 49 games last season... and so far in 31 games this season his SV% has dropped to .903... Last I looked Fleury was leading the league with a .945 SV%...

As far as I know, North Hill is still has been doing good steady business... If Cadillac Fairview was to consider selling it, the cost would be huge... Is paid parking a new thing?, I thought it was a +/- 3hr limit, that was put in place a while back because too many people were parking there for the whole day to take the LRT... Just can't see that location working for an arena, as Crowchild and 16th Ave. are already bumper to bumper for a few hours every day... 24th Ave and 19th st. aren't great either... Northland was supposed to be demolished (postponed for now) for residential towers, all their tenants leases couldn't be renewed when they ended ended... But that location would also have challenges with the traffic generated...

Nenshi promised a field house some time ago... But decided an Arts Commons that would benefit less people was a priority...

Nenshi and co. have spent a lot of money on so called "art" and megabucks on the Arts Commons, all 6 levels and over 400,00 square feet of it in the same economic downturn for which he claims economic hardship for not being able to put money towards building a new arena... Most of the "art" is way overpriced, and butt ugly, and has been produced by "artists" from outside the Province and out of the country... Add to that the fact he is serious about making a bid to host the Olympics which only last a short period of time, for a lot more money than an arena, without an arena...

Me too... and he can be a cheap bastard... But my point was more that the Sens could be a team that is a candidate to move to Houston, Seattle or Quebec, etc... More so than the Flames... At least at this point... If Nenshi wants to make a serious bid to host the Olympics, he is going to have to be more flexible... He wants it for a legacy, and he is not going to get anywhere with a bid by telling the Olympic comity his plan is to host hockey, etc elsewhere in a different city... The taxpayers of Calgary would also poop bricks if they learned that they were going to be footing a huge bill so that the most lucrative events that would be a major factor to recoup the money involved would be going elsewhere rather than helping to pay the bills... On the Flames side, they need to have a different person(s) negotiating on their side... I have my doubts if King should remain involved at the forefront...

Constructed in the same economic downturn for which he claims economic hardship for being able to put money towards building a new arena... , The Arts Commons benefits a relatively small handful of people as a badly needed Arena and other sports facilities... Don't forget that construction of the Arts Commons was also done while Nenshi and co. put the field house he promised a few years back so far back on the agenda that you need binoculars to see it... and then he tossed a few $ towards sports and recreation to use this as part of his re-election campaign http://www.nenshi.ca/policy-recreation instead of keeping his promise...
