conundrumed
A bright spot on the roster. A top 6 on an ELC. Sutter doesn't hate young players after all, they just have to be worthy. First of many, just keep looking for him Kadri!! He created a step on the defender. Sweet goal.

But lets hope he can cement that position in the top 6. Early days and I am going to keep my expectations realsitic. Would save us mture picks at the trade deadline. Also Eric Francis go eat your hat.

The body shape is though. Anyway, it funny that we don't even have a recent thread about the kid. Top prospect and all. Kid earned his looks in the top 6. That pass from Kadri was pretty smart. Not on the stick until Pelts had beat the other player. More of that please. That was a NHL shot to finish. Be more selfish, the goals will come. Two games where Pelletier has a partial breakaway. Previous version was end of a shift so no afterburner. Both were scoring chances.

Well, unless he's made of rubber. Pelletier seems to have a good understanding of avoiding being left vulnerable. Gaudreau was good at avoiding contact for the most part. Used escape velocity and seeing the ice. He did get nailed by a DET player some years ago, but wasn't often hit. I would expect that one of the 5 guys on the ice would stick up for him after a dirty shot.

I do believe that it was none other than Pavel Datsyuk that knew where to catch him. Love.

travel_dude
Just doing my due diligence here, sorry that's it a little off topic. Pelletier got rewarded for strong play after his first 2 games. Started on the 4th line and was obvious he was too good for that. 7 games before he collects his first NHL point, after playing the last 3 or so at 13 minutes +, and some PP time. Contrast to Phillips. Two games at 10 minutes or less in the top nine. Was there enough to even consider trying him for a longer stint. Took a questionable penalty. One chance that resulted in a shot on goal. Timing may have been everything. Lucic benched, Phillips and Zohorna recalled. Losing games at the time. I'd've played him in Columbus, and then played him all the way up to Christmas. In both games he played, they got a point (and lost). They had a favorable schedule during that time, and only achieved 9/18 possible points - which is the same with or without him in the lineup. I don't think it cost them anything to keep him in, and there were plenty of teaching opportunities during that span. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work, but he didn't look more out of place on the second line than Lucic. Love.

Love. Damn I miss him. Last year of his $7mil traded on the draft floor to ARI by none other than Holland. 16th pick, none other than Jakob Chychrun. That hurt, being Chychrun was a Sting player. I liked Keller too. Both to ARI. It was kind of a nightmare. If Van took Tkachuk, I wanted either. Didn't know McAvoy well enough. That was a good draft. Thebrewcrew
Pelletier was comp'd to Jaden Schwartz on his draft year. Seems pretty accurate. He's gonna be a fan favourite.
travel_dude
So, bioth Pelletier and Duehr papered down to the AHL. Believe that this is to allow them to be eligible for the AHL playoffs. Staying in CGY during the season is fiine. When the season ends, at least they can have a Calder Cup run.

sak22
Jakob Pelletier opens up about 2023-24 season struggles - FlamesNation A good piece on the difficult year for Pelletier both on and off the ice. I know some want to write him off and move on, I'd like to see him have a good off season, start the season healthy and hopefully his dad can get through his cancer battle. He may not be the offensive star people want, but his character is top notch.

He may not be the offensive star people want, but his character is top notch. For me it was never about writing him off. His attitude and compete level is tops. It was more about trying to fit him into a role the way the team was set up. We have a couple of guys that need more than a passing look.
420since1974
One thing I really like about Pelletier is that unlike many players his size, he does not need to play in the Top 6 to be effective. His enthusiasm and competitiveness certainly help out in the locker room as well as on the ice. Every team in the NHL needs "rah, rah" guys like him. My only concerns are his obvious lack of size and propensity for injuries. He has never played a full season of hockey since Bantam AAA, though he was really close in his first AHL season (66 of 68 games). That said, I can't think of any reason why the Flames would not at the very least tender a qualifying offer ($874,125 - two way).
