Some comments.  Huberdeau is more used to the East, ehich is a lot of open ice.

The Flames tend to play more in traffic, so he has to get more used to it.

There may be some conditioning issues or the altitude is still affecting him.

But he seems to lack energy at times and tries to dangle to make the play.

Gets burned.

Mackey better as game wore on, but he was the odd man out at times.

No Stone so we have some issues.

Lucic didn't play in the 3rd and Backlund didn't play a lot in the 2nd.

Sutter was talking about emotion and playing hard.

Some guys seemed to be soft on pucks and players.

The styles of hoceky may be different but in the end its still hockey. Huberdeau just looks so tenative so nervous right now its startling. With Stone now injuried, its time for Mackey to step up or get shipped out. This is the prime example of being given an oppurtunity. The guys behind him may step up and show they deserve a chance more than he does. Frankly, the whole D has been a bit of a let down this season. Turnovers and really lazies plays with both the forwards and the D this season. For me its the team as a whole not just one guy that sucks right now, which is surprizing. Sutter's belief that the veterans bring the emotion and energy and play the right wat each night had 3 veterans as passangers last night along with a rattled D man that made a crap load of errors for being in this system for this long.

Secondly, we got lucky last season with injuries, that won't be the case this season. With the turnovers and having to play in your own end all the time injuries will start to pile up and as we can see we have ZERO depth.  We ahve limped to victory a few times this season, I am waitign for when this club gains traction and takes off, let shope it happens sooner than later,

Huberdeau and Weagr both mentioned this but Florida last year was a zone team and flames are more of an aggressive man to man team. They are having to play pretty different styles. Leads to thinking and thinking at this level tends to leads to hesitation and errors.

I agree Huberdeau is fighting it snd probably actually trying too hard but this shouldn’t be a shock. It’s a big change for him.
