Sounds good.  Where are the other two rosters?    Also, are all games streamed on Calgary Flames, or just our games and the rest on the other team's sites?

Flames and Oilers haven't officially released a full roster yet... I assume any hr/day now..

I believe canucks.com has all of them..

In the oilers release they mentioned : "All 2015 Young Stars Classic games will be streamed live on edmontonoilers.com."

So fair to assume the same for the flames website... if not you guys have options.

Here are the invitees for the Flames and Oilers... excluding their own prospects...

DL, here is a list of the prospect camp invite list (and the list to the original article):

http://flamesnation.ca/2015/9/8/flames-unveil-2015-prospect-camp-roster

THE ROSTER

The Flames will be bringing 30 individuals with them to Penticton.

Goalies (3)

  • Jon Gillies (2012 3rd rounder): back-stopped Providence College to NCAA Title, named championship MVP, now he's going pro.
  • Mason McDonald (2014 2nd rounder): a year removed from being drafted, McDonald is signed to an entry-level deal and thought to be a contender for the starting job at the World Juniors. He'll be headed back to Charlottetown this season.
  • Nick Schneider (try-out): an 18-year-old Leduc native who suited up for Medicine Hat last year. Had decent numbers, but seems like an invite to pad the camp's numbers a bit.

Defensemen (11)

  • Rasmus Andersson (2015 2nd rounder): Swedish import really impressed with Barrie last season. Right-handed shot, good mobility.
  • Jason Bell (try-out): big bodied 18-year-old from the Saint John Sea Dogs. Decent numbers in the Q.
  • Riley Bruce (2015 7th rounder): really tall kid is youngest person at the camp (he turned 18 in July). Mobility isn't amazing and he's a work in progress.
  • Ryan Culkin (2012 5th rounder): second year pro, was very good last season in Adirondack before gnarly wrist injury eliminated chance of late-season NHL appearance.
  • Jason Fram (try-out): invited for seemingly the umpteenth year, Fram had very good numbers for Spokane. He's 20 now and can be signed, but the Flames do have a lot of deals on the books for blueliners already.
  • Keegan Kanzig (2013 3rd rounder): gigantic human being and Calgary Hitmen blueliner. Has a contract and is likely turning pro, though he can also return to the WHL as an overager.
  • Brett Kulak (2012 4th rounder): solid all-around defender, was good enough in Adirondack as a first year pro to get a game in the NHL. Good shot, good skater, good passer. Just not great at anything.
  • Oliver Kylington (2015 2nd rounder): impressive talent who free-fell in the 2015 Draft, falling to Calgary. Very good skater. Has a contract and can play in NHL, AHL or WHL this season.
  • Kenney Morrison (college UFA signing): Western Michigan product signed with Flames in the spring and was impressive in short AHL stint. Good shot, strong instincts.
  • Eric Roy (try-out): originally a Flames pick in 2013, he went unsigned and now hopes to get a deal somewhere in the organization. Offensive smart, defensively iffy.
  • Patrick Sieloff (2012 2nd round pick): technically going into third pro season, but has only played 50 pro games. Physical energy player who's had durability problems (and horrible injury luck).

Forwards (17)

  • Kenny Agostino (trade with Penguins): second year pro. Speedy winger who's logged some NHL games. A dark horse to get NHL time this season.
  • Bill Arnold (2010 4th rounder): another second-year pro, former NCAA champion, Johnny Gaudreau's center in college. Strong 200-foot player and developing.
  • Tyson Baillie (try-out): speedy, talented Kelowna Rockets winger. Struggled with consistency.
  • Sam Bennett (2014 1st rounder): highest draft pick in Calgary Flames history. Was good in playoffs.
  • Taylor Burke (try-out): big body from the QMJHL, teammates with Emile Poirier two seasons ago in Gatineau.
  • Austin Carroll (2014 7th rounder): WHL power forward was able to physically over-match junior defenders, but will need to be more strategic at higher level. Has a contact, turning pro this season.
  • Pavel Karnaukhov (2015 5th rounder): project pick from Belarus is pretty decent at everything and improving, but needs to work on his consistency.
  • Morgan Klimchuk (2013 1st rounder): smart 200-foot player. Isn't huge, so he may have problems with bigger bodies in pro. Has a contract; can return to WHL as overager but probably going pro.
  • Ryan Lomberg (AHL deal): another interesting development path, bouncing from USHL to NCAA and back, lacks size but has some skill.
  • Andrew Mangiapane (2015 6th rounder): Small, speedy and very talented OHLer. Teammates with Andersson in Barrie.
  • Mason Marchment (try-out): Bryan Marchment's son. Solid hand, but doesn't seem to be overly strong in any areas.
  • Louick Marcotte (AHL deal): another Gatineau/QMJHL connection. Excellent offensive numbers at that level, but perhaps a product of teammates.
  • Emile Poirier (2013 1st rounder): second year pro, had strong rookie campaign in AHL and spent a couple weeks in NHL.
  • Julien Proulx (try-out): can play wing or defense, listed here since I think they're heavy on natural blueliners. He's big.
  • Hunter Smith (2014 2nd rounder): late-blooming big man was very good in OHL playoffs and Memorial Cup. Mobility isn't amazing, but he seems to have good instincts on the ice. Has a contract, most likely going pro.
  • Tomas Soustal (try-out): another Kelowna Rockets import. This one's a toolsy Czech import who somehow didn't have great offensive numbers on a strong offensive team.
  • Bryce van Brabant (college UFA signing): second year pro, this big-bodied Alberta native is below the games-played cap for this event. And his inclusion gives him a few more reps. Still a project.

I like Calgary's chances. Decent at forward, but strong in D and in net. That said, this tournament is about evaluation not winning. Lines will be mixed up and players will be put in different roles.

It's useless to try and predict lines for these things. But it's also fun. So here it goes:

Mangiapane-Bennett-Poirier

Klimchuk-Arnold-Carroll

Agostino-Karnakhov-Smith

Van Brabant-Burke-Baille

Culkin-Morrison

Kylington-Fram

Anderson-Bruce

Gilles

McDonald

A couple of pairings that would be interesting to see.

Kanzig-Bruce = Ouch

Kylington-Anderson = Great speed / comparison

Bennett-Poirier = Future?

Klimchuk-Arnold = Shut DOWN

Yeah, good matches.  I'd split the D pairings, going Kylington-Kanzig and Andersson-Bruce, plus I'm interested if the invite D make an impression.  Having Roy back is a bit strange, we'll see what he brings.

I'd also like to add Baillie/Mangiapanne as LW on the Bennett-Poirier pairing and Smith/Proulx with Arnold and Klimchuk.

Finally, going to be interesting to see if Carroll and Agostino are ready to make a serious case for the NHL and the competition between the two goalies.

I imagine they will save Smith for McJesus.  Mangiapane or Baillie may be a decent compromise, though those 2 Jets are likely NHL-ready now.

I was just thinking about the sizes & remembering when Crosby looked ready to take a swing @ Chara. Chara kind of squatted down the way you do talking to a child & I can imagine him saying "You don't want to do that little boy".

I still like that memory.

I'm not worried Ehlers will get hurt as like Gaudreau he seems to have an instinct of self preservation so can avoid hits.

The Jets have Blomqvist @ 6'7, 217 themselves & I doubt Brendan Lemieux will be shy about introducing himself.

It'll be an interesting tourney as all prospects try to make a good impression.

I was thinking less about size.  Smith played against McDavid and his line contained the "chosen one".  I think there are two teams that have some really good prospects, some lesser lights that performed well in junior, and some guys that TSN never heard of.

Then there is a team that has one player that will win every major award (according to their fans and MSM).  They also have a big German that scored a bunch against teenagers.  Nurse may be the real deal, but is yet to play well in the NHL.

Then there is VAN, who has Jake (bit of a puckhog), and Hunter S and some guys I never heard of.  Maybe they are good and I just don't follow enough minor hockey.

I wouldn't sleep on the Canucks. Canucks don't have alot of the names or "flashy" players but they've got a lot of solid two way players especiallyd own the middle. They are probably the deepest down the middle in the trounament with Cassels, Gaunce and McCann.

If i had to handicapp it on paper I would suggest

1. Winnipeg

2. Calgary

3. Vancouver

4. Edmonton (becuse i'm assuming McDavid will probably only play a game or two and if you remove McDavid, Edmonton doesn't look great)

Game over.
Solid puck movement from our guys and Gillies was excellent.

Other players I was impressed with:
Rasmus Andersson - A workhorse in this game, as It seemed like he was always on the ice. Solid defensively.
Andrew Mangiapane - Very tenacious with the puck.
Morgan Klimchuk - Impressed with his defensive play.

One thing I noticed from another of our D-Men. Kanzig. Not the fastest (we knew that though) but I can't really recall a single time when he made the pass, where it didn't end up on the stick of another Flame. A lot of these young  guys make passes and they bounce a lot, just miss the target or are too hard to handle properly, but every one of his (that I recall) seemed to hit the stick of another Flame, and didn't seem to be too hard for them to receive easily.

Mangiapane was great. Was even amused to see him parking himself in front of the net a couple times too. Very impressed with him, and could definitely be one of the steals of the draft.

Top Prospect Line:
Agostino/Bennett/Poirier looked really dangerous out there. Rather consistent with the offensive pressure no matter who was lined up against them, all 3 had amazing chances and played a rather deadly combination of energy and speed, with a willingness to play physical as well. Bennett/Poirier are actually looking like a really deadly combination. Agostino actually is showing some promise and making a case for himself. He is proving he was the best prospect/player (not the picks) that came to us in the trades that kick-started our rebuild (Agostino, Berra, Cundari, Hanowski).

Klimchuk is definitely going to be a younger version of Glencross. I don't think anyone really expects top line play out of him. But a solid 2 way game, a bit on the physical edge and can score some timely goals while playing Middle Six is what he does. And I am perfectly happy with that. And Arnold was really good as well defensively, showing that he is definitely ready to push for his spot in the NHL, and was consistently one of the best players on the PK.

Gillies is definitely showing what he has against some higher end skill. And showing that we may have found a gem in net for us. Really excited to see his first pro season.

All in all I am quite happy with the Flames play tonight. Just sad that the most noticeable non-Goaltender in the game was not a Flame. Brendan Lemieux was possibly the best player not named Gillies on the ice. Took a cross checking penalty, but it worked to his advantage as he started agitating everyone. Scored the Jets only goal, was physical, walked the edge real well, and definitely got under peoples skins. Kinda wish he had fallen to 34th for us to take.

And Wreckening, 3-1 Calgary. I missed the third goal, but Van Brabant got the first, one of our invites got the second, Mangiapane had 2 assists (again, missed the third goal so not sure if he was in on that too). Lemieux had the Jets goal.

A few thoughts after tonight's game:

Forwards:

Poirier: played well, seems to have improved his skating, seems quicker.

Van Brabant: was very noticeable.

Mangiapane: very tenacious on the puck and battled hard.

Bennett: seemed like he was trying to do too much, but not anything I would worry about.

Defense:

Culkin: great stick in the defensive zone.

Kulak: great skater.

Andersson: played well, but I came away unimpressed with his skating, very average to below average.

Gillies: was the best player on the ice for either team, still seemed to fight the puck a bit, but I'll give a pass on the first game of the year with shottty defensive zone play in front of him.
